No one, I mean no one saw that live. if it wasn't for Mac Rumors neither of we would noticed that either. That channel has an specific TV viewers and it about specific business things. Thanx God that we all know now that the tablet is coming. It wasn't a leak it was a comment of how the new tablet will work with his plans. So, enjoy tomorrow the specs, the features, and the brand new breed of Macs that will come in the future. This is a step by step learning that Apple is teaching us on how we need to interact with the new Macs in the Future. We play on iPod touch (and learn how to use it) we use the iPhone (and learned how to work with) now the tablet will teach us how to use a computer without a keyboard. in five years we all going to be using touch iMacs in a new revolutionary way thanx to all this gadgets that teach us how to be prepared.;)

Exactly, the face of computing is changing gradually, right before our eyes. Too many are still stuck on this e-book thing. Think out of the box people . . for instance, how will we interact with the device, and what features will it have?

Horrible example.

People had personal music players before the iPod and before the rio. People has cell phones before the iPhone and the Treo. The subsequent innovations replaced something that - at the core - was the same. This tablet doesn't replace anything in a cost effective manner.

If you think this is an alternative to magazines and newspapers, you must be one of the 35 people who signed up for Newsday in the three months since its online news went pay-only.

you must be old... no offense, but the tablet has the very real possibility of replacing magazines, newspapers, and books.

cost effective? The same could have been said for the $600 iPhone when it was released. People will be willing to pay for the elegance and connivence to have all their publications at their finger tips.

Apple Tabloid?

The only part of that interview that didn't strike me as prepared was when he calls the device the Tabloid twice and then corrects himself and says Tablet. Was this a genuine slip and is it going to be called the Apple Tabloid?

also, I mean REALLY would it be necessary to by a tablet if you just subscribe to one newspaper.

I mean how many of us on here REALLY read magazines/books like that, WITH subscriptions, and how many subscriptions do you have. I myself check news on CNN and thats good enough for me, local news paper online OCCASIONALLY.

how my of you guys actually want to read anything extra aside from what you may see on your television broadcasts.

i mean the device has to have features that appeal to a LARGE MAJORITY of people that REGULARLY and OFTEN use the features.

Just having an tablet thats an iTouch + your subscription to local paper + wall street journal and maybe even 1 + 2 boooks is REALLY a retarded reason to purchase this thing.

my friend, you seem to be suffering an anxiety attack :)

relax, breathe, maybe something completely different will be announced tomorrow,

and many people subscribe to papers and journals and require more info about the world than just CNN. science, sport, music, cooking, home decorating, gardening, train spotting... :)

BASED on iPhone OS, not the same OS. Remember iPhone OS is based off Mac OS X, meaning the tablet is based off of OS X. Chill people.

So you're saying they created another bad spin-off of Mac OS X for the tablet? Not using iphone OS 4, huh, not even rename it and use it? So we will have Mac OS X, iPhone OS 4, iPad OS 1? Just trying to straighten it out. And I am chill.

Not a reader here, but if it has hybrid books that you can read, listen to, watch clips of critical scenes, links to wikapedia for more info, then I would read more. Plus, this tablet would lend more than just a reader. I would like to take notes, play games, etc.

E-book readers still totally suck for long reading. LED simply doesn't cut it for that purpose.

I understand it can be great for magazines, newspaper, quick researches and so on, but do hope that it's something much more than a glorified e-book reader.

Why is it aiming low?
Just because this might not be on your wish list it doesn't mean is not important.
While I do expect many other things from the device, for work and leisure, this is one I would like to have foremost.

Have an open mind man.

no offense intended, i was actually inviting you to have an open mind, to allow yourself dream of a wonderful, revolutionary device, rather than a glorified remote control.
again, no offense intended, sorry if it sounded harsh

Who is with me for starting a company to make bathroom mounts for this thing.

There will be so much usage of these in toilets, that making mounts will be a gold mine!

The more news that is leaking out, the more I am starting to become disappointed.

The Apple Tablet sounds like a glorified e-book with multimedia capabilities.

That sounds awesome.

For people that read. I understand how people who don't read, might not like the idea.

Yep. Makes it totally viable especially for the college crowd. If Apple creates iWork for the Tablet/iPhone, it would be even better (that is unless M$ makes an Office app). Only real way I can see Apple totally messing up my somewhat low expectations for the Tablet is if they do not allow multitasking.

You simply don't do any serious reading and haven't used an e-book reader if you actually think any of the e-book readers that the current technology can offer are even remotely close to replacing actual books. Trying to read a novel on it is a painful experience all around.

No worries man,
I am expecting more than a remote. The possibilities are endless. Tomorrow could be a revolutionary day. Let's hope.

Doesn't have to be as good as a book to replace a book. mp3's suck compared to CDs...

well those would be some reasons to get one, but then you'd have to SHARE IT, i dont know bout you, but id like my tabby all for myself, ha.

I AM HOPING that it takes notes too. i really am thinking this tablet thing is also a purpose to try to eliminate nintendo...maybe? and the wii. hopefully something MOTION is involved.

Sound's about right 'cept for the MBP part; more like MP here.

arent they in time for updates? i was thinking about getting a Mac Pro, until I was at the apple store and officially fell in love with what my girlfriend calls, "mini mac" - mac mini.

Agreed. Plus, if you were to have all your college textbooks on the Tablet, one could easily be screwed by their Tablet going out while studying for a test. Book's have to be the most reliable things out there really.

pffft ... everyone knows this is all part of Jobs personal agenda to compete for news channel coverage over the president's sotu address.

Seriously , this isn't a light matter and it isn't part of some elaborate scheme to dupe publishers who are on the fence to jump on board.

controlled leak!? Do you realize how much money and effort, on a global scale, is put into keeping product details under wraps until the very last second? Believe you me, Mr Jobs is on his iphone right now pacing back and forth with his face as red as punch over this leak.

If McGraw is shown any mercy it's strictly because Apple has an obligation to maintain pleasant public behavior in working with it's partners on the eve of a major product announcement.

The last time a major partner disagreed with Apple's policies on this subject they were cut off completely and replaced. A few years back ATI was set to debut in hardware yet to be announced and ATI carelessly blew the lid.
