and me.com wasnt they could of tried to buy it,
but then I dont think @mm.com would work as much as @me.com

never mind the MM is a little close to M&M which more likely than not would cause some problems. (M&M's use m-ms.com and mymms.com)

To me some of the people complaining about me.com sounding egotistical are hypocritical in that some of them want .mac to brag that they are using a mac. But thats JMO.

YESSSSSSS! :D

Just sent a message to my Mobile Me address from my Gmail and it worked!

EDIT
Definitely works, just changed my Facebook contact email to my Mobile Me email.

EDIT 2
Just sent a message from Mobile Me to Gmail and it works too!!!

Mine is not working yet. I hope they turn this on soon: I want to try it, and also, they should have it up for at least a week to get the kinks out before all the iPhone 2.0s start using it.

I could care less, as long as i can get and send my messages. Hopefully Apple will just keep this service working 24/7 unlike the .Mac accounts of yore.

ANd hopefully we get that sweet simple web based app experience so that I can cancel my other services that complement and work better than my current .Mac counterparts.

I couldn't agree more!

.Macs biggest short comings are inconsistency, poor performance, and clunky operation. Hopefully after all these years, Apple's mobileme will finally fix this problem. Although I will believe it when I see it.

.mac as it stands right now is unreliable. Something always seems to go wrong with my sync operations between my desktop and my laptop. idisk is pathetically s-l-o-w and has poor progress reporting. My email connections are refused 5% of the time due to problems with the service. This just doesn't cut it anymore Apple, mobileme better be good or windows users and iphone users are going to be angry. mac users will probably bend over and continue to take it, just because its from Apple.

Mine's working and it's a UK based account so it's not just the US based based accounts that are being switched first

what if I pay for the .mac mail service only (about $10 for now),
will I get the me.com full services later in July..?

thanks.

Back to Me

I don't know why but I have a bad feeling about the @me email. It's like déjà vu of some kind of Millennium Edition of something. And if I recall correctly, that was utter crap.

tried a few times in the last few hours and no go for me yet (pun intended)...

With this automatic switching, does this mean that when MobileMe will launch, only crappy @me.com will be left?

And this is why I don't like .mac and other email addresses. I hate it when the company up and decides to change the address. Verizon customers are going through that right now in our area. This is very disruptive for people.

The solution is to own your own domain name. $9/yr. Cheaper than .Mac by far. Add a web host shared account on that for another few dollars a year and you have far more power and stability. Then you don't have Apple all of a sudden changing your email address which means notifying all your friends and customers, printing new brochures, new business cards, updating logins, etc.

Apple is doing their .Mac customers a huge disservice.

How is it disruptive when they have said you can continue to use the @mac.com email addresses? If you don't want to use the @me.com then there is no impact to a user at all. Get your facts right before you start the accusations and **** stirring!
