I don't think there will BE an event (like this one) for new pro Macs. They may just appear.Temujin said:When is the next event?

"The Current PowerBook/PowerMac line will remain as our sole offering for the holiday season. Stay tuned for more in the PowerPc Pipeline for 2006.'
Yeah, "Year of the HD" -- hopeless dolts.

kenstee said:I'm with digitalbiker. For all those waiting for the first Intel PBs - personally I'd hold off. Why? Yonah which will be the first Intel chipset employed isn't so great. BTW, read yesterday that Intel is having "issues" with this chip consuming more power than they wanted. So, it may be a longer wait and not as great as a performer - battery lifewise - than anticipated. In addition, more to the point, Yonah is going to be VERY seriously obsolete within 6-9 months after it is released. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=26879
I'm going to sit this transition out until there is software optimized for the Intel chips - at which point we'll all be spending big $ for software upgrades. And I really don't think that Rosetta is going to be the magical fairy dust that some people expect. It is emulation. And better than nothing. My expectations are limited for this stopgap measure.
Me? If new PPC PBs come out soon I'm seriously considering getting one to last me the 1 1/2 - 2 years until this transition is complete and the Merom is at Rev 2.
I am sure you are right, but that doesn't change the fact that the proline right now is lagging. Assuming Apple aren't able to beef up the current proline before the PPC->x86 transition, I think they will see a serious dip in the sales of the proline. Just imagine how these specs are going to look like one year from now, or worse, just before the transition early 2007.SiliconAddict said:GOD [bleep] it people!?!?!?! *has a heart attack as he gnaws off his arm in frustration*
THERE . . . IS . . . NOTHING . . . TO . . . UPDATE . . . WITH . . . UNTIL . . . 2006!!!!!ONE!ONE!!ELEVENTY!!

Steve Jobs: Let me piss all over my "pro" line, more like **** line. Powerbooks and Powermacs are no-existent anymore. I was gona buy ALL options on the new 15" PB, well... too bad apple, maybe i'll find a better way to spend my 3G's. and powermac, well, i was even thinking about one of those... nope. sorry. Apple: we hate ppl who want to spend good money on our "pro" line. Holy crap i'm venting like i've never vented before. I'm sure i'll come to regret what i have just said, but in the meantime, i'm sticking too it.
P.S. I dont see updates coming to PB and PM, why would they quietly introduce them?? and next event is MWSF. ihate apple right now.![]()

the pro line will be next in a few weeks with the dual core 970mp chips. so reason to be angry now. be angry when the pro line gets a lame or no update till mid november. but then be really really angry.......![]()
Not at all. The Pentium M is already faster than the G4. Yonah will be faster still--AND dual core. That makes for a GREAT upgrade, with an increasing number of Intel-native apps.digitalbiker said:The only problem with that scenario is that particular Intel PB will be a lame duck.

If the fact that something EVEN better (Merom) is coming in late 2006 makes it a lame duck... then every computer is always a lame duck. There's always something even better in half a year.
