I'm getting the 38mm silver steel but really want the blue classic buckle not black.

I actually think that would be a really nice combo, fortunately the sport bands are much cheaper than the rest. I never really have cared for steel/link bands, but that milanese loop looks awesome.

No, I want the blue leather for 38mm.
I find the apple watch store awful.
No pricing or availability for the straps so I have no idea what will be available for my size of watch.
I think I can now see why releasing the watch in different metals is a mistake. They should have had alu or steel and nothing else.
The whole launch is coming off as a cluster but I'll see what happens come the 10th.

Go to Apple Store. Look up Apple Watch series. Scroll through all band options with 38mm SS Watch.

It's quite simple. They are not offering the classic in blue. Just black.

The Edition has its own set of buckles and none of them are offered separately. That's the only version of a classic buckle that comes in blue. If it were offered separately, it would not match your SS phone because it has 18k yellow gold hardware is would likely be so expensive that it would just give people something new to be shocked over.

I just noticed on Apple's site that the sport band actually weighs more than the milanese loop. I'm surprised by that.

33 vs 47 grams for the 38mm.

All the bands available separately are listed on the online Apple store (and the Apple Store app). Prices and colors and sizes are all listed.

It will be fun to see any changes in the choices after April 10. I am on the fence until I actually try them on.

Definitely 42, for me.

Definitely 42, for me. Not only because it's a bit bigger screen but it looks more correctly sized when I compare both the 38mm and 42mm on my wrist from the Apple website. I would say I have rather small wrists too but I've always preferred a larger watch face. I really like that the :apple: watch has a choice of two sizes though.

I have 170mm wrists, I was wearing the LG G watch for a while which was way too big for my wrists (length wise).

This initially made me lean towards the 38mm model of the Apple Watch.

However I had a look at the size dimensions for the LG G watch and its considerably bigger than the 42mm Apple watch.

LG G watch
height - 46.5mm
width - 37.9mm

Apple Watch 42mm
height - 42mm
width - 35.9mm

It's basically the same step up in size from the 38mm Apple Watch to the 42mm Apple Watch. This makes me think that the 42mm watch will actually be ok on my wrists, and I'll be purchasing the 42mm.

If it's still too big, I'll return and swap for the 38mm, but I'd rather try the bigger size first.

Surprising how many people are referring to their wrist sizes but not actually providing the measurements - "small" is open to interpretation.

My wrist is about 180-185mm and while my gut says go 38mm (because I'm not a fan of 'big' watches), I think the 42mm will provide better usability.

I'm going to pre-order both sizes (black sports), try them both in-store before the 24th then cancel the one I don't want (assuming I can make up my mind in the short appointment slot which is not likely!)

I'm having an extremely hard time deciding between the 38mm and 42mm models. I go to the gym daily, but prefer the scratch durability of sapphire, so SS w/milanese loop + black sports band. I currently wear a small Fitbit Force, and my wrist measures in between 155-160mm. I cannot decide for the life of me, which size looks like it will fit better on top of my wrist.

To be honest, I'm in the same boat. I think they both look fine and it's really personal preference. I think I'm going 42mm

I'd say the 38mm looks better. I have a 155mm wrist and I'm going with the 38mm.

Definitely the 38

I currently wear a Pebble Steel which measures 46mm L × 34mm W × 10.5mm T so I will be getting the 42mm Apple Watch.

remember the pebble includes the prongs at the top and bottom.

I'm a really petite woman. 5'1" and just measured my wrist to find it is 148 mm below the wrist bone. I'm a watch nut and I have the usual dainty ladies watches in my collection but I also have some monster leather and metal behemoths matching my casual sporty or trendy outfits that go up to 40 mm and still managed to be comfortable to wear and fetch some compliments. I also used to have to wear a large Casio mans calculator watch for one job I had in college and while I thought that particular watch looked a bit silly on me I got loads of compliments on it and saw other girls start to wear them, too.

So if I were a man, even one with smallish wrists, I would not rule out the larger watch without trying it on in person. Just so you can get the benefit of a bit more battery life and a larger display. I don't think any man or teen boy will look bad in the larger watch. The smaller watch might suit a particular man's overall style and look better but it's not likely he will look bad in the larger watch if he wants the extra batter life and increased display size.

The smaller watch isn't that small so it will likely be fine on most men and all women.

I am going to try both sizes. I likely will get the smaller one but I'll try the larger watch just for the heck of it.

You're lucky. They both look great on you. Going by those pics, on my wee wrist the 42 mm would make me look like I have an IPhone strapped to my wrist. Which is interesting because I do own 40 and 42 mm watches that dont look ridiculous on me. But that's because they are funky jewelry pieces with bands designed to complete a look. The Apple Watch is a different beast. It's going to be hilarious when I try on the 42 mm!

38mm is not in fashion, unless you are a lady.

42mm is and will be more popular...

Genitalia has nothing to do with this. We are talking about the size of a person's wrist. Yes the 42mm will be more popular, among people with larger wrists.

I see lots of claims in this thread about better battery life with the 42mm, yet apple said the battery life would be the same or not even noticeably different.

That would make me think anyone choosing the 42mm for better battery life will be in for a surprise.

Am I wrong? or is that just something everyone "thinks" will happen b.c the watch is larger. Do they not have identical internals, battery and all?
