I guess you missed the part where he said "these days". Culture changes and sometimes does dictate what is considered feminine.
That being said I really don't care what size men or women get but what is bothering me is that Apple tries to pretend that the sizes are not made for gender, but then all the most feminine bands are only paired with the 38mm version it sure seems to make a statement.
Neither watch has any one gender in mind. It's not hard to understand. People, all people, vary in size. Apple knows this so they made two different sizes so people, (stressing PEOPLE) can choose what best suits their wrist size. Now having said that, men and women have different preferences. Women, typically, are smaller people than men are. Logically, this would mean that the majority of women customers will be buying the smaller watch, hence the "feminine bands" you speak of that optionally go with the smaller watch. Any gender label you apply to these inanimate objects are purely based on your social bias.
It seems like common sense, but it appears a lot of people are having a hard time with this.
