Married with kids. I'm very much heterosexual. I own gold iPhone's.

Seriously, who the hell cares what other people think?

My wife had the gold 5S and now has a gold 6. I do notice a difference in the hue of gold color used in both devices. On the 5S, it was often times hard to tell if it was gold or silver. On the 6, it is undoubtedly gold - perhaps a bit too much so that makes it tacky IMO. I wouldn't say the gold is girly but rather just too gaudy for my tastes.

I went with the space gray 6+ and am perfectly happy with it. I will likely go with a silver 6S next year just to change things up - I've owned a black iphone ever since the 3GS.

I am thinking very seriously about getting a gold iPhone 6 Plus.

I've only ever had black iPhones before. I think it looks especially handsome in the brown leather case from Apple, as seen in this review: http://techcrunch.com/2014/09/16/iphone-6-cases-review/

Some of my friends have said that a man "can't own" the gold iPhone, or that it's for ladies, which I think is ridiculous.

Just looking for any other men who are proud gold iPhone owners and if you've gotten similar guff from your friends.

Not looking for this to devolve into a screaming match about masculinity and gender norms...it's just iPhones, people.

Also interested to hear whether you use it in a case, without a case, and if so, what cases can compliment the gold color. Pictures encouraged. Thanks! :apple:

Gold 5S here - love it. I saw the 6+ in gold and didn't like it. I can't say, why? I do like the 6 in space gray.

True. It's just a phone.

Judging by what I read here and and seeing what people do to get one, it is far more than a phone. For many it seems to be an object that is worshiped and more important than anything else on earth. :D

My 5S was gold and I loved it. I tried to get a gold 6 Plus but that didn't happen. I had to settle for the silver version which is okay.

You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. Focus on yourself and not what others may think of you ;)

It could be worse :p

I don't think there's anything wrong with the gold color phone. I would have gotten one myself but I'm a straight male.

Okay that was a joke. I actually have a white/silver iphone 5. I do think the gold is a little gaudy or flamboyant, just my opinion.

I'm a gay man who wouldn't buy a gold iPhone.

Translation: you are totally screwed no matter what colour you buy. Someone will think it's wrong. Millions will think it's wrong. And millions more will think it's wrong because it's an iPhone. Deal with it and live life for yourself.

My male friend has the gold 6+. There is nothing girly about it. It's a great looking phone.

Everybody who says that cares about expressing to people that he/she pretends to not care about what other people think.

People who don't care about what other people think don't say anything.

You're welcome.

Im a male with a gold 5s. I wondered if I would get tired of it overtime but I still think it's the best color. I've never had anyone say anything about it. Even people that I thought would say something (native born Floridans for example) didn't care at all. I think a part of me bought it to see some people say crap about it just because I think it's fun to watch, but no takers. A few years ago someone told me had a girly color iPod nano (it was green).

I don't see how some find it flashy, to me it looks like a sparkly beige, like sand. It has a earthy feel to me. I think people are just operating from their programming of gold = flashy without seeing it with their own eyes.

I'm interested in seeing the gold 6. People have said that it's a little different.

First of all you have excellent taste as that is exactly the combination I was thinking of going for. Like you I have only owned black iPhones before but I am not a fan of the space grey 6.

On the second point if it is normal to get a gold watch with a white face and a brown band I see no reason why the same colours would not be acceptable for men on a phone, they are both after all accessories in the end.

Ugh, these threads are always silly to me. Anyone can get any phone they want. Guys can wear pink now and no one bats an eye, what's the big deal about a gold phone? Since when did only girls like gold?

Haha nice

This thread is absolutely hysterical.

And for the record, my coworker (who is a dude) is getting a gold iPhone 6 Plus.
