Some of my friends have said that a man "can't own" the gold iPhone, or that it's for ladies, which I think is ridiculous.
Yeah, that's ridiculous. The white iPhones are perfectly acceptable not only for females, but also for gay males.

On a serious note...if you put it in that case, you're not going to see very much of the gold.

My Plus in gold, and it is not "girly", love the look of it.

It's not an obnoxious color either.

41, male & hero here. Always had black phones historically. 3g? Black. 4? Black. 5? Black. Ditto for my 1st and 3rd gen iPads. All changed with iOS7 - my wife bought a 5s in gold with the white fascia and it looked fantastic with iOS7's colour scheme, more so than with my black fronted iPhone 5.

Upgraded my 3rd gen iPad to a Retina Mini last year and bought the white & silver version. Put it in a Product RED leather case and thought it looked awesome. So, come to upgrade my 5 to a 6 and gold it was. Now got the gold 6 in an Olive Brown Apple leather case - can only really see the gold body at the open bottom of the case. The white fascia with the gold ring around the TouchID in the Olive Brown looks fabulous, very happy with it.

All said it's your phone that you're going to be looking at and interacting with intimately for the next couple of years so get what you're comfortable and happy with. Seriously, don't pick phone colours, styles and cases to fit someone else's sense of style. They won't have to live with your choice; you do.

I've had more 100% grief for picking an iPhone rather than other people's Android phone-du-jour than anything to do with colour. iPhone has always done whatever I've needed from it (chiefly music) so everyone else upgrading 2/3/4 times per iPhone cycle because %AndroidPhoneDuJour% is a matter of cosmic disinterest to me.

It's ok if you come out using your new iPhone. :D Just kidding. Although they're ugly. But to each their own. I'd say do it!

I am thinking very seriously about getting a gold iPhone 6 Plus.

I've only ever had black iPhones before. I think it looks especially handsome in the brown leather case from Apple, as seen in this review: http://techcrunch.com/2014/09/16/iphone-6-cases-review/

Just looking for any other men who are proud gold iPhone owners and if you've gotten similar guff from your friends.

Not looking for this to devolve into a screaming match about masculinity and gender norms...it's just iPhones, people.

Also interested to hear whether you use it in a case, without a case, and if so, what cases can compliment the gold color. Pictures encouraged. Thanks! :apple:

Really see nothing wrong with a man having a gold iphone. I had the 4.7 and its beautiful just as my 5S gold. if you're up for the change, i say gold is the way to go. i used to by the white ones until the new color was added

If you like and want the gold one then get it. It shouldn't matter what other people think.

I have the Gold 5S and I love it :D Everyone is mostly jealous and amazed and says "You have a gold phone?!" :p

I had the gold iPhone 5S since launch and loved it, gone for the 6 plus in gold. One review did note that the gold on the 6's is a lot more "goldy" then the gold on the 5S if that makes any sense lol

I like the gold. Whoever thinks that makes me "girly" doesn't deserve to live in the 21st century.

We are not!
And I know it's true because I took a survey of 10 of my friends and they all agreed that I was not insecure. I hope you agree that I'm not insecure because I need positive re-enforcement from the entire population of the planet or I won't be able to make even the simplest decision in life.
Also please tell me if I should change anything in this post or delete it. But not because I'm insecure because I'm not, see the first part of this post about the survey for absolute irefutable proof.

Funny! Thanks for the laugh!

I personally prefer the more subtle champagne gold of the 5s over the 6 & 6 Plus more rose gold coloring. Just my opinion.

I've owned two white iPhones and now the Gold 6.

Honestly I've never encountered someone who genuinely believed that the white was girly. I've seen people hear say it, and some of my friends do joke about it with me since I am gay, but some of them have white or gold iPhones. Most people i've encountered really do not care.

I have the gold one now (I was going to buy the Space Gray one to match my iPad but, I wanted something different :) ) and my friend's don't even make the slightest implication that it's feminine. Rather, they make jokes about it being ostentatious and pretentious.
