Are you happy with Apple's decision to give out free Bumper case?

Bumper is garbage

I pre-ordered it and put it on once. It really makes the iPhone 4 look cheap. The mute button is extremely small and difficult to use. I was very happy to hear I can get my money back on it.
 
Thanks, I didn't see the comment from Steve about next week. I read Engadget's transcript and I'm not sure they included it, or perhaps I just skimmed over it on accident. I do appreciate everyone not jumping all over me for asking though 😉

With that said, I also noticed that he generalized "case" and not "bumper", but as of right now the only iPhone 4 cases online at Apple.com are the bumpers... are we expecting more 3rd party (or 1st party) options by next week?

I'm guessing Apple will determine a range of cases which will be free by next week. You can't expect all 3rd party cases to be free, but enough choices to meet the demand of current users.

This is just pure speculation on my part, but I think Apple will have a selection of 3-5 cases to choose from. We'll find out in a few days.

10% of your income is standard plus I think the IRS would bless your generous donation to such a needy charity like Apple and it will probably be tax deductible on next year's return.
 
I just read somewhere that the Apple Store can provide a receipt for the last 18 months. They just look it up in their computer.

Also, could I get a refund (likely store credit) AND still sign up for a free bumper?

I want the $30 store credit to buy iTunes gift cards. Then I will refund them the next day for cash. I need the money to pay off some debt. But I like the bumper, I still wouldn't mind getting another one for free! 😉 Hey, Apple can afford this free loading after ripping off people with $30 white headphones where the gray surrounding of the earbuds scrapes off.

I'm not drinking any Kool Aid - I think Apple's treatment of this problem sunk them to a new low today, but they made it pretty clear that customers WILL get to choose from several cases, I'd expect something to please most people (as much as any case could) in that range.
 
You can get a free Apple Bumper. Look up the bumpers on the Apple store, they're no longer selling them. Instead it says:

iPhone 4 Bumpers are currently unavailable for sale.

Apple will offer a free iPhone 4 Bumper or other select cases to iPhone 4 customers. Details on how to order a free Bumper or case will be available soon on apple.com.

Tired of haters

I love my iPhone 4. And I'm tired of these haters trying to make an issue where there is none. The more high-end the product, the more whiny and spoiled the customer base gets.

Children in impoverished countries are dying of starvation right now.
But that's not important... because you bought the world's most greatest smart phone, only to discover that the cell signal degrades when you smother the phone in your arm pit, or hold it between your butt cheeks. You poor, unfortunate soul. Apple should compensate you for your suffering.

But hey, what do I know? If I stick up for a good product I must just be a fanboy. 🙄

Bought a new Ferrari. The sleekest most beautiful car on the planet. All was good until I took my first drive. An irritating whistling noise could be clearly heard. Took it to the dealer who said it was due to the shape of the sheet metal but not to worry. Hyundai Sonata sheet metal can be bolted on and the whistle will go away. Best of all Ferrari will provide it free of charge! Whoopee!!!

Sorry but is bumber a hard case of silicon kind of the stuff

I got the cheaper silicon case but it drops the signal as soon as i start browsing the phone or start talking (i am lefty)

I don't think sticking up for a good product will get you called a fanboy, but using starving children as a shield for Steve Jobs sure will.

If you go to their website (vapor's website) it says that you will be able to get whatever you want laser etched into it, the VAPOR written on that one is just for advertisement in the photo.
 
I voted "no" because I generally don't like workarounds. They should offer a solution instead.

OTOH, I am pretty happy with their other decision, which it to refund your iPhone 4 completely until September 30.
 
For those who wonder if the bumper will solve the problem, get a big rubberband or one of those rubber wrist bands and wrap that around your phone and see if it fixes it for your situation. If it does, then the bumper will fix it too. Some people have said the bumper doesn't fix it for them, many of us have had good luck with the bumpers.
