Personally, I'm very happy. Refund for my Bumper would be nice - it's a good gesture.

The problem with the current consumer mentality is that most people feel a sense of entitlement. Returning an iPhone 4 is not enough - they need a grovelling apology, compensation, Steve Jobs whipping himself and crying in front of a mob... seriously... it's a freaking phone.

The idea of simply returning is just alien to some folks. I even think they derive enjoyment from being unhappy, complaining, starting campaigns... what more do you want?

I only hope people who hate the iP4 just return it, and those who are concerned about the antenna, don't buy it. Alas, though, I fear stupidity will prevail.

So what you are saying is that your iPhone works perfect without the bumper you bought? Like you can touch the black band and nothing happens? If that's the case then I want my money back for my phone cause mine loses signal when I do that and if one doesn't then all of them shouldn't and if you need the bumper to fix your signal and you don't want to get a refund for the bumper you bought then you are foolish and must have more money than you have sense!

it depends where you are buddy.. I live next to an ATT tower and cannont make the signal drop it SAT on it!

go overthe Q&A part of the conference... Steve himself even pointed that out.

Yes.

They aren't side stepping the issue. They can't fix the physical design of the antenna, but they will sure as heck make sure it doesn't happen again.

They could say 'we changed the algorithm to ensure the signal is processed correctly, so just be happy with that or return the phone.'

They have accepted it is a physical issue, giving you something that will insulate the antenna from conductive material (skin) will fix it.

What did you want? A redesigned iPhone?

A free iPad, you know, nothing too much. This is after all, America, land of the red, white, and tort. ;)

The iPhone 4 is not faulty. Saying that the iPhone 4 is faulty is like saying that a satellite dish is faulty if you put a tree in front of it blocking the line of sight. Or like saying that your wireless router is faulty if you put a microwave oven next to it and turn it on.

Get over it and make an effort to not to touch the very specific sections of the antenna. It's not that ****ing hard.

It's not at all like saying that. The phone loses signal when I hold it in the only way comfortable to myself(a lefty).
I saw a signature here that summed it up best
Patient to Steve "It hurts when I breathe"
Steve to patient "just avoid breathing that way."

We Will Not Know Anything Until Apple Releases Details Sometime Next Week!!!

Bunch of needy impatient drones...

have you even SEEN a bumper? Its molded plastic, ringed in rubber, perfectly cut to the phone, with out a doubt the MOST ACCURATE cuts I have ever seen on a case, and I've bought a lot

And to top it all off, real stainless steel buttons on the case itself cover the sleep/wake and volume rockers

worth $30? maybe not
Cheap? Definitely not.
It has the best build and design of any case I've seen

********. It's a complete piece of ill-fitting, wiggling crap. Oh, and I can't use the dock-connector cable in my car as it's not the exact same profile as the new-ish Apple cable. I sent mine back two weeks ago.

I called the apple store, they said they have no info yet, dont waste your time going to the store.

Not really happy.
I already bought a 3rd party case.
A Lance Armstrong .05 cent rubber wrist band that they charge $30 for is not answer for the problem.

Something tells me that iPhone4's that ship out in the next few months won't have this issue which will prove they know its a defect.

If we took the poll results of this thread with an error margin of 10 % which overestimated, we can see that 20% at least are unhappy with SJ's solution who by the way said that .55% have called apple care.
Correct me if I am wrong ?

I'm taking a chance by ordering a bumper now, waiting my 3 weeks, then just getting a refund later. No sense for me to wait for other cases if I have no interest in covering the back screen with anything other than my SGP protector.. anyone who wants a bumper will still have to wait until those who paid get theirs delivered, might as well get the early start..

be warned that the skin may interfere with the flash, the bodyguardz did with mine.

I think the bumpers should have been included with the phone in the first place because of the exposed antena design.

If this were people saying " I am dropping calls! Give me a bumper, an iPad, and some Chucky Cheese tokens! Whargarble!!!!!" I would not condone it.

it depends where you are buddy.. I live next to an ATT tower and cannont make the signal drop it SAT on it!

I live in Florida, had an iPhone that i could only get to drop one bar at most at my house, returned it because of a sensor issue and now this phone that I have now will drop almost all the way down at my house and my reception seems worse in places that I've usually gotten good service and I haven't updated the phone yet

Apple is a multi-billion dollar company. Accepting your refund is like taking a napkin from a restaurant.

I'm not someone who goes out of their way to dupe companies for free stuff.

I too bought a Bumper on day 1 to go with my iP4. I bought it as a temporary solution until my skin arrived and to have incase I wanted to use it.

For both my original iPhone and iPhone 3G, I never used a case, but always put a BSE - Bestskinsever skin on my iPhone for naked protection. I was going to do that but decided to dress my iP4 up with a Gelaskin instead. All that said, there are times I will or won't use my Bumper on my phone. I prefer not to cover up the design and make it look cheaper and plastic like the older generation. I like naked look, even though I have skinned it with a picture.

But I am also irked at the whole dock changing, etc. And that you can't dock unless you take something like the Bumper or other case off. So I won't buy a iP4 dock. The universal dock is appealing b/c you can take out the insert and still use it. However, the only universal dock they sell comes with the remote at $49. The don't offer a universal in the $30 range w/o the remote.

So I intend to get my refund/store credit for Bumper I already bought and put it towards a universal dock. Win-win for Apple, they get $20 more of my cash. And the combined $49, I'm sure they aren't losing money on the dock/Bumper combo I got.

I'm not thrilled about the get a case response today. I never used one with my 3G or original. But the skin may have insulated against the attenuation.

I'll take my $29.00 back (they even charged me + Shipping!!!) any day. Its over priced to begin with - but thats not my point.

I do love it though and will never turn down the money I worked for, back, if someone offers.

I also love my phone!

Edit.... It was tax, not shipping

I love my iPhone 4. And I'm tired of these haters trying to make an issue where there is none. The more high-end the product, the more whiny and spoiled the customer base gets.

Children in impoverished countries are dying of starvation right now.
But that's not important... because you bought the world's most greatest smart phone, only to discover that the cell signal degrades when you smother the phone in your arm pit, or hold it between your butt cheeks. You poor, unfortunate soul. Apple should compensate you for your suffering.

But hey, what do I know? If I stick up for a good product I must just be a fanboy.

Children in impoverished countries are dying of starvation right now. And all you are doing is funneling money to Apple Corporation.

Put your money where your mouth is, sell all your Apple products, and donate the proceeds to charity. Otherwise just shut up you moron.

Thank God Steve stood up for what's right. And along those lines, I am perfectly happy with my iPhone 4 and the Bumper I bought on Day 1 and don't want Apple's money at all. I wasn't raised to take money I don't deserve. In fact, I'd like them to charge me an additional $29.00 to offset someone else's free case if that's what it takes as a gesture to show Apple how happy we are with what they do for us.

Look what we're doing to Apple. We can't let this happen.

I have high praise for what you stand for but paying $29 + tax for a 5 cent rubber band, without even being taken out for dinner first.
Well, good luck with that.
