Since the flash is ported from android hulu might not work since hulu videos won't load on android.

It's not the player itself that would prevent hulu from loading. More then likely it's that hulu identifies the device and blocks it.

Either way, this is pretty awesome. Looking forward to downloading this once it's out.

This all looks good from what we have seen but what is a realistic release date for it?

And what about when iOS 4.x is out for the iPad will it have to be totally rewritten?

Here we go again with another Flash debate.

But, if this actually works, then we can finally get some empirical data and go beyond speculation. We can answer the questions like, will it run without crashing or will it actually use more battery than videos or games?

We shall see!

I personally don't think it will be a problem and that it won't affect battery life any more than video or games do. But if the data proves me wrong, then I will admit it. I am issuing a challenge to all those who may think otherwise - to be able to stand corrected if indeed the proof is there.

So, why doesn't Flash work perfectly even on Mac? Adobe has failed to develop a flash player for 64bits MS Windows. If Flash became a standard, nobody could make a new system without Adobe's permission and prompt corporation.

Perhaps because it wasn't optimized for a Mac? I've never had any problems at with flash on my windows computers. One thing though, is that adobe has been working WAY too slow in updating and fixing their products. It took them way too long to get a proper Mac port, they still haven't made a 64-bit version, and only now are they doing something decent on mobile.

Uh, iplayer and YouTube working fine here...

Call me crazy but I don't really like the bizarre mobile version of iplayer you get on ipad - would definitely rather have the normal website working.

Normal crappy youtube vids work just fine, however proper tv shows / movies (4OD / Channel 5) are not supported by the native player- frash would allow you to view them in mobile safari.

It will use more battery than video or games because it will be using the CPU to render the video and a constant data connection to stream the video. It would probably similar to watching you tube videos over 3G, but probably a little worse since this won't be optimized, it and android port people have hacked to make work.

If that's true then you're probably right. Up until recently it was Mac OS that disallowed Flash from using the graphics card on the desktop/laptop, but I have no idea how that relates to mobile devices.

isn't that what a charger is for?

I'll be curious to see how they handle mouse and keyboard input for Flash games that have no idea they are running on touch screens. I noticed in the demo video that they didn't do much except launch apps...not much interaction. Could be very handy for Flash video sites though. I bet it sucks battery down like crazy.

I don't see how the virtual keyboard could be used at all, as it only will display when there are input objects. However, I don't think there would be a problem with the dock or Bluetooth keyboard.

Unless specifically coded otherwise, Flash responds to mouse events the same as the browser. The trouble is with rollovers vs clicks. I've noticed on websites with CSS menus, sometimes a tap will drop down the menu, same as a rollover, and other times it will just link to the target.

Mouse over animations have always been big with Flash content, so maybe developers will have to do away with these to make the content more compatible with touch screen devices.

...

I don't even care if it's buggy i want this yesterday so i can watch some of the videos that I can't currently see online. Most sites that have UFC videos have them in flash still

problem is for every reasonable person out there who understands that this sort of thing is bound to be a little buggy, and difficult to implement, there are hordes of people who would start with the "OMG CANT BELIEVE U RELEASE DIS **** IT DONT WORK AND U ASKIN FOR DONNATIONS LOLOL 1STAR"

This has to be some serious pie in Jobs face, it looks to be running pretty smoothly. Can't wait for this to get done.

It's going to be battery intensive! But in relative normal usage it won't be the huge battery drain/drop in user experience that jobs expects. Let's hope ;) happy!

Now how do I jail break my iPad ? ;)

Hopefully it's released with an SBSettings switch... I'd personally keep flash off 90% of the time... only to turn it on when I need to watch some flash video or animation. :)

I use imobilecinema for flash on my ipad and it does have a sbsettings toggle, very handy.

how did you load imobilecinema on your ipad? I tried 2 different package sources and it loaded fine ( I can see it in my packages list) but when I either go int SBsetting there is no toggle switch nor is there a plugins button under safari?
