I must be the last person on earth who doesn't see the need for flash on the iPhone. I can't remember ever needing it or being on an important webpage on my phone that didn't have it.

No, I am the same as well. Who cares?

I'd like for some form of flash on the iPhone. I don't really *need* it, but it'd be nice to have for some things. Comex's implementation is pretty good with it only loading the flash content if you click on it. I look forward to a stable and more compatible build.

Edit: just saw comex put up a new build a couple days ago. Compiled it, installed on my iphone 4, and it runs pretty decently! Not perfect, but not bad either

Yeah it's called frash and comex is working on it. The last time I tried it was about 2 months ago on my iPad. It didn't work too good at streaming videos, but it showed web elements pretty well. You have to tap on the flash logo for it to load. I don't think it works well enough at this point to be worth installing, but to each his own.

You can also get CloudBrowse from the app store (no JB required). I use it on a rare occassion, but it's good in a pinch.

Cloudbrowse is basically a network of VNC servers though, so it's way too laggy for its purposes (like viewing flash videos), and also it hasn't been available on the App store for a while now. Personally, I support Apple in pushing the HTML5 standard.

Yes I agree, I dont really have that big of a need for it either but I think that it would be somewhat useful to have something that is a semi-flash player where you can click on a flash video in safari and it automatically plays it in quicktime player

I agree with keeping Flash off of the stock iPhone, but this is the "iPhone Hacks" forum. The whole purpose is to enable people to customize their phone to their needs, not the communities. If OP has a need for Flash it shouldn't be met with people telling him it's not needed.
Frash is an interesting project that addresses my main issue with flash; it's not made by Adobe.

BTW-I hate Flash too, and even have it disabled on my Laptops :D

Its whatever comex wants to call it. (I think that is the developer)

Thats a bummer. Hopefully, it will be working soon.

W00T! I finally figured out multi quote. (Yeah, go ahead and flame....) :D

What's multi quote?

What's multi quote?

where you quote more than one person. you press the button to the right of the normal quote button on whoever you want to quote. it will turn red iirc and after youre done press quote.

installed well but i dont think its compatible with ios4 because in safari, the flash video shows the play button with a slash through it. I emailed the company to see if they could optimize it for 4.0.

Good luck, they haven't updated it in a year. It's a shame it used to work pretty well

thats too bad because this is exactly what i was looking for. But its odd, on the ios 4 compatibility list, its listed as compatible. Does someone else want to download this to see if it works on their phone? Also it could be the fact that im using an iphone 4 and it might have been tested on a different device

how did you install it? i dont get the intructions, and how can i check if its working?

Install the deb that is listed on the above...it should say like install deb right before they go into the manual instructions. Sorry for such little info as I'm on my phone now...
Flash works flawlessly on iPhone 4.....the deb is like frash .02 ... Every needs to try it ... 2 restates were needed for me...

What I did was:

1/ download the .deb file
2/ SSH into phone
3/ copy the .deb into private/var/root/media/Cydia/AutoInstall/
4/ restart the phone (it will install whatever .deb files in the folder above)
5/ once the phone comes on, Respring (through SBSettings)
6/ open safari and load up some flash games to test

I dont really use the commandline style when dealing with .deb files. I find just throw them all in AutoInstall folders and restart is the easiest way.

ps: if you do not have the Cydia/AutoInstall folders, just create them.

What are you installing with.. Ifile?

No I was using winscp. It sat on setting up frash for a few minutes then i close the window by accident and now is say this when I tried again.

/private/var/tmp$ dpkg -i /tmp/Frash-0.02.deb
dpkg: error processing /tmp/Frash-0.02.deb (--install):
cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
/tmp/Frash-0.02.deb

Try just doing the installation that the previous poster did .. Just place the deb somewhere in your iPhone( autoinstall folder ) and reboot.. I prefer to place it somewhere I remember then go in with ifile and install in ifile
