This google conference going on right now really has me excited to go to Android.

With Android phones, tablets and even TVs here or on the way, it's looking like a good job skill (in my case) to add.

I've semi-ignored Android up until a week or two ago, partly because of negative talk about it around here. Most of that was with earlier models, though.

Then I got an Incredible to program on. It's now a favorite device for me to use, and family members with iPhones are tempted with its widgets and notifications and universal voice input and so forth. Apps have not been a problem.

I think EVO is prob going to be the best phone for this year, but we still have to wait to see what the upcoming iPhone has to offer.

holy......

holy **** google just gave everyone at the i/o this bad boy for free.

You had to scroll right past a post that gave the same link to get to his. Very observant of you.

That was couple of posts above and not as clear as a quote, in fact you quoting is what got my attention.

Anyways, saw the camera samples and the HD video on engadget and in one word: Disappointed. Very unimpressive, the "HD" was compressed to hell and had tons of artifacts just not good, the camera has tons of noise and just isn't that good.

Camera was always HTC's biggest weakness and it's still present in the EVO.

They should just stop with the megapixel ******** and concentrate on the lens/sensor.

There really is no need for more than 5 megapixels, an old 5 megapixel DSLR takes incredible photos why the need for 8 and 12MP+ ?

Because they understand their target audience perfectly. Geeks and spec whores who value nothing more than being able to boast about their Android phone's "superior" numbers in forums such as this one. Who cares how the device actually performs, right? Four-hour battery life in the "best Android phone ever made"? Way to knock that one out of the park, HTC.

Case and point: the new TV commercials for the Incredible that actually bother to brag about the phone's "1Ghz Snapdragon processor". Does anyone actually believe that resonates with more than a tiny percentage of potential smartphone customers? Are John and Jane Q. Public going to sit up straighter on the couch and say, "Oh my...did they say it has a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor? Well that settles it, I have to go out and get that phone as soon as it goes on sale!" The new iPhone will feature a 1Ghz A4 chip, but I'll bet anyone who reads this, any amount of money they care to wager, that fact never gets mentioned in an Apple TV ad.

Wow, four hour battery life? Is that factual info? I have a feeling the next iPhone is going to be amazing with battery life.
