[Merged] HTC Evo 4G / Supersonic / Sprint Evo

EVO 4.3" Screen

It has been confirmed that one does not have to move the screen from left to right in order to read each line of text on a forum page.

This is a huge pet peeve I have with the iPhone!
 
I'm thinking about ditching my 3GS for this phone - I know it has a 30 day MBG, but was wondering if there is any benefit to buying off contract for $450 if the ETF on the Sprint plan is $200 - seems to me $200 +$200 is a better deal if I keep it past the 30 days but then want to kill the contract say 6 months in - am I missing something?

My iPhone 3G barely lasts a full day when I have 3G on... So.... Also it depends on how much you use the device in real world use. Engadget said they got almost 4 hours using the device as a 4G wifi hotspot streaming movies to a laptop. So that's pretty heavy usage. http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/19/htc-evo-4g-review/

Ok, so you are mad because he posted on a HTC EVO thread (topic). So what exactly do you have to add to this thread? I'm not adding anything, just pointing it out.

I'm not mad, but he's beating a dead horse. We all know the EVO will support flash, it's just obnoxious. Every single one of his posts are just propping up the EVO, that's it.

The original thread before it was merged was about comparing the iPhone with the EVO.

Flash 10.1 and Froyo have just been released and is newsworthy in illustrating the EVO's capabilities in relation to the iPhone.

If you are not interested in the subject matter of this topic, then I would suggest you not read it.
 
I was at a Best Buy today and decided to preorder the Evo, but the saleswoman told me that the pre-orders ended yesterday (Friday). Can anyone confirm this? I went on the BB website and they still have it listed as available for pre-order, and the BB still had a sign up saying "pre-order today."

Do you think anyone here doesn't know that the EVO is flash capable and the iPhone isn't? Don't you think people here know that the EVO's screen is larger than the iPhone's? We all know.

It's just that you and all you EVO advocates are beating a dead horse, again. I'm fine with you posting links to reviews of the EVO, but the other stuff? Constantly posting pro-EVO stuff on an iPhone board? Constantly saying how the iPhone's screen isn't big enough? Some comparisons between the iPhone and its competition is a good thing, but this? The thousandth reiteration of EVO's specs compared with the iPhones? I'm not trying to stifle debate. I'm just sick of the same threads and posts every single time. All your posts are the same. I just clicked on your post history and it's ridiculous.

I have been Apple loyal since the 80's

I truely hope Steve surprises us all with something we value.

I will not be buying the EVO until the new iPhone goes on sale so I can test drive both at the same time.

I will choose the iPhone over the EVO if it gives me what I want.

Simple
 
So I got to play around with an EVO 4G today. :D

The NASCAR All-Star race was this weekend in Charlotte. I'm not at all a NASCAR fan, but a good friend of mine is and so I joined him at the race this weekend. Having never been to a race before, I thought it was sure to be an interesting experience (it definitely was!). When we got there, I remembered that Sprint is the primary NASCAR sponsor and they had a presence all over the place. On a hunch that they may have an EVO out to demo, we went hunting down the main Sprint booth. We hit the jackpot. :)

What an amazing phone! I love the 4.3" screen size, and have played with an HD2 before...but WOW! The 4G speeds are incredible. As much as I like the 4.3" screen size, I still had every intention of sticking with the iPhone. I've used it for 3 years, since Day One, and I really wasn't looking to switch. But man, that phone is just unreal. It feels so solid in your hand and the screen is just as gorgeous as an HD2.

I played around with it for a good 5-10 minutes, so if anyone has any questions I can try to answer them.

EDIT: I also snagged a couple "official" Sprint EVO flyers/brochures. I'm not sure if these are in the Sprint stores yet (they may very well be), but I'll see if I can't scan these in tomorrow.
 
Got My Evo

Got my EVO today from a dude on craigslist. THIS PHONE IS RIDICULOUS... I stare at my nexus one with pure disgust now!(just kidding, I gave my nexus some love and installed froyo today lol)

I'm really becoming a big fan of this phone. I don't think I have the credit rating to get off my parent's AT&T plan so it looks like I'll be getting the new iPhone once it drops.......But I want the EVO!! I will take an EVO and a 32GB iPod touch if I had the choice. Such an amazing device.

It's a nice phone, but there will be something wrong with it. Every phone so far that HTC has made has had some issues so I am curious what will come out once this phone starts seeing some real world use.
 
The phone looks beautiful. Almost makes the iPhone look like a toy :( Im still going back and forth on this (even though I pre-orded the Evo). I really hope Apple nails the new iPhone, but...
 
Stick with iphone or HTC EVO

I know I know, there are tons of topics on this but not of this kind.

the evo shoots in hd (720p). I also have a flip ultra HD.. Does anyone know how their video quality compares???

With the 8MP camera and the HD video camera in the EVO. I can sell my Flip and digital camera have it all on one device and make things a lot easier.

This is a solid reason for me to drop the iphone. anyone agree?

I'm doing a lot of back and forth, as well. I've heard bad things about the 4G coverage in Austin, though, which is a real bummer.
