Yep, based on a review from the Wall Street Journal.

And I have the same feeling as you about the new iPhone's battery life. ;)

Oh that's the incredible. The EVO has a larger battery.

Anyway, I think the next iPhone's battery could last quite a bit longer than the current one. For one I believe the battery is more powerful. Also if it has the new processor than it should be a lot more efficient. We could be looking at iPad like battery life with such a smaller screen. Only wish Apple had not made it look so industrial with a 3.5 inch screen. Black bars are for murders and rapist, not fine people like myself.

For the first time I may actually leave iPhone, which I thought this day would be much further in the future.

95% chance I buy the Evo. Thankfully they're announcing the iPhone 3 days later so I can get an idea of if I want to leave or not and not have to wait so long in between.

Was using my friends Incredible and it blows iPhone out of the water. Widgets, the 8 megapixel camera, the large screen, customization, Sprint's great prices and network have me sold pretty much.

I just got my evo this morning. It is taking some getting used to with android. I'm a mac user and using android right now is how I feel when I get on a windows computer. I just don't know the best way to do things. I'm sure i'll get used to it soon enough.

The size for me was one of my biggest concerns. I wanted the huge 4.3 inch screen but didn't want it to feel too big. For me the phone doesn't feel that much bigger than the iphone. Definitely feels wider in my pocket, but it still fits. The size difference is worth it for the screen.

I keep going for the iphone home button but it just isn't there.

Bought it from someone who was at the google developers conference where they gave them out. Paid $450 and get a free month of service. I'm going to use it for a couple weeks and see if i want to keep it and sprint or go with the new iphone.

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I may have misread, or maybe you did, but I thought he was referring in the first sentence you quoted to the Incredible, and in the second sentence he was referring to why he is "sold pretty much" on the EVO since that is what this thread subject is. Was your comment because you thought he was referring to the Incredible in both sentences? (Maybe he was and I read it wrong.)

[edit] Never mind. Just saw that The Incredible has an 8mp camera as well so I guess you were just being snarky.

"So the Evo 4G is about 4.5 times faster when you’re in a 4G area. In real-world terms, the Evo 4G loaded the mobile version of the New York Times website in just 3 seconds, versus 11 seconds over 3G."

Now that's what I want to hear

Speed matters

Yeah, it better be faster, because based on early reports, you won't have as much time to use it before you need to find a wall outlet to plug your charger into. Or maybe swap in one of those extra batteries that so many people seem to love toting around...

However, the data speeds I got in my tests weren't spectacular, or anywhere close to the typical maximum Sprint claims, even in Baltimore, where the company's 4G network is mature. And, when using 4G, the EVO's battery runs down alarmingly fast. In my tests, it didn't last through a full day with 4G turned on. The carrier, in fact, is thinking of advising users to turn off the 4G network access when they don't think they need it, to save battery life. This undercuts the whole idea of faster cellular speeds.

My problem with 4G? You can't use it indoors which is total crapfest. Also at this point the network is a ghost town so, it's seeing the best download/upload rates.

Sprint gives you 30 day test drive money back guarantee.

Hard to knock that.

Real world test for your turf is reality

I'm not sure how these reports are any different from the current iphone 3gs. Mine tends to run down to 25% battery in less than 2 hours when I'm using internet or streaming audio or certain apps - it seems to me that all of these phones are going to drain pretty quickly under heavy usage.

I work out of my car all day so I am the ultimate power hog.

I will probably end up with something like the HyperMac Mini to keep my boat afloat

I don't have 4G in my area, but every review I have read and everything I have read on 4G says that it doesn't work well at all inside.

For those of you who switched to Sprint or Verizon, were you able to keep your phone number. I thought I heard somewhere that you can't bring your number with you if you move from AT&T to another carrier.

Spoke to a Sprint rep in NYC, and 4G isn't there yet, and won't be available June 4th. How could they not have 4G in the biggest city in the East Coast ? I'm shocked.

Because the idea was to initially setup in 4G in smaller cities as test areas. The plan is to complete 4G in several large cities by summers end - NY, Mnneapolis, Denver, Chicago etc....

You can port your number to any carrier.

You're not sure how the reported lousy battery life of these newest Android "iPhone Killers" is "any different" from the iPhone 3GS?

How about this? The iPhone 3GS is nearly one year old. I thought these big bad Droid phones were supposed to be such a quantum leap in technology over poor old iPhone? Apparently not in some key areas that count for real world usage.

The EVO is the first phone ever to rethink my iphone and my very unfortunate relationship with ATT. The problem is that Apple makes the best device ever it just happens to be on the worst network. Lets face it no matter what the Iphone 4G is no matter how cool the new features are somehow ATT is going to screw it up. I live in 4G coverage and use clear it works great ATT is never going to be there, they havent even got the network that 3Gs was suppose to use going yet! and dont forget the rest of the civilized world is currently tethering their Iphones but not us. I love Apple and all my macs and yes my Iphone as well, but I may be jumping ship in June.

Just my two cents

Mine works awesome inside its where I primarily use it... I typically get 800+ downloads.

That's because you have only downloaded 800+ things, try 1000+. :D

No, but I have heard it's bad inside. I am sure there are exceptions.

Poor battery life has been a problem with modern smartphones for years due to their ever increasing power (and power demands). Unless Apple are using some really new, unannounced tech, I suspect battery life to be similar to what we have now (probably a little better to make the upgrade seem worth it).

You seem adamant that the next iPhone will last far longer than anything else out there under heavy use. Any reason for this? Is there something we should know?

I take it if to doesn't have groundbreaking battery of the forever, you will forget all this battery talk ever happened? ;)

LED Notification Light

It has been confirmed by users that the EVO has a LED notification light for new messages.

This may be a small feature to some, but it can be priceless for important calls. Even my old Samsung phone had it. Why the iPhone does not have it is beyond me
