Lookin good!

Conclusion

Things are starting to finally come together. Flash and huge performance gains, all in the same release. Flash is CPU hungry, so Android makes everything about the environment more efficient.

Do you see it? Adobe wasn’t giving Apple what they needed, and Apple wasn’t giving Adobe, well, anything.

But Google thought of the problem outside the box, like the ingenious engineers to the core that they are and made Android so much faster than it could finally run full Flash without a hitch.

Oh yeah, the phone is indeed noticeably faster.

Lol, it has nothing to do with the software from Google. It has to do with Adobe getting their crap together. Plus the phone has decent hardware as well. Just because it runs, doesn't mean it won't eat the **** out of your battery.

Flash is the WORST thing ever made. It makes web pages nice and all, but Adobe has let the code go to **** for years and if you want to see just how bad it is, take a not so fast machine and go watch some youtube/hulu videos in full 1080/720p resolution. See what happens. Even on high end machines Flash sucks down resources.

Flash can stay away from my mobile.

Whether you like flash or not, it's unavoidable on the internet. Until it is no longer avoidable, I want my phone to be able to use it. The new FROYO is VERY optimized for it. Check the link I posted above regarding it.

Btw, the EVO launch party is tonight. If your a fan of the EVO or curious about it. http://www.evo4gsmartphone.com the forums there will have updated information about it. Should have a release date and price info by 6:15 tonight.

Have you ever tried to interact with a full flash site on a mobile phone before? It's not fun.

Flash on a desktop is one thing, flash on a mobile phone, is a different ball game. Remember, you use your FINGER on your phone. Most all flash sites are optimized for MOUSE gestures, not fingers.

Let me know how it works out.

No, I have not. I did however watch this vid of FROYO that's coming out. It will be on your Incredible soon enough.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/11/android-2-2-froyo-and-flash-run-like-butter-on-nexus-one-vide/

Flash is looking great on FROYO.

You need to read up on and try out how flash REALLY works on mobile phones before saying you want it on your device. It's not even close to the flash you use on a desktop.

I did and posted a link.. I don't understand how much more I can read up on something that hasn't fully been released. FROYO link about how efficient the OS is: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...-it-compared-to-2-1-oh-only-about-450-faster/

And the post before previewing flash on FROYO. Looks like a winner to me. Other than those two links, I am unaware of anyone that has hands on experience with full flash and FROYO on an Android phone.

Flash Lite on 2.1 is a not full on flash on an optimized OS for it.

This is my new phone :) After 3 years with the iPhone its finally time to move on. I cant wait!

I dont think it can be helped... the Iphone OS 4.0 is a serious flop, the specs coming out for the new Iphone are just the 3Gs with a bit faster priocessor and "possibly" a higher res screen, whoopdy doo.. the screen size is the same and the new design is a brick.

I just hope the EVO comes to Canada, I'll be glad to use it on our 3G networks...

And its 30 days no risk from Sprint. They will even reimburse you for the calls you make. Ill be buying on June 4 and if Apple somehow surprises with the new iPhone (which I doubt and I expect a larger not smaller high res screen) and better notifications. Otherwise ill be buying and loving this phone. I never thought Apple would make it this easy to switch plus im in a 4G area.

I cannot wait! It feels like the first iPhone all over again!

I will be test driving both the new iPhone and EVO before I pass final judgement.

I'm really hoping Apple has a few surpises up their sleeves

Did anyone else catch that additional $10/mo fee for 4G? Sheesh! To be honest, if the carriers use 4G as a reason to force higher subscription rates, they can keep it. In atts case they haven't even pushed the limits of their 3G yet. Im sure that while the increased subscribers using data phones uses up bandwidth (thats all the carriers excuses for higher fees these days), I wouldn't think that number to be exponentially higher than they are bring in revenue - ie keeping rates the same in the face of inflation.

Plus, seeing as how nearly no one has 4G yet, the $10 additional fee is just silly. Its one thing if you live in the hills of no where - but a major metropolitan area? In the very least I would expect an optional 4G tier for those that absolutely must have it AND want access to it. Call it fanboy-ism if you want, but I am happy the iphone wont have 4G this (or likely even next) time around.

My opinion, fwiw

Remember, you use your FINGER on your phone. Most all flash sites are optimized for MOUSE gestures, not fingers.

The trouble with this argument, is that it's true of HTML as well:

Most web sites are optimized for mouse gestures. HTML/CSS has the exact same hover and mouse movement and scrolling problems.

Mobile Safari has had to create special gestures and behavior to get around the mouse problem, just as Flash will have to.

(Well, except the Droids really don't have to, since they also have a mouse / trackpad usable in situations like this.)

You need to read up on and try out how flash REALLY works on mobile phones before saying you want it on your device. It's not even close to the flash you use on a desktop.

Looks pretty close to me, using even partial Flashlite 4 on the Incredible.

I dont like this either, but even with the $10 4G fee added to the $69.99 unlimited plan its cheaper than the cheapest AT&T plan for the iPhone and you get unlimited texts.

From my understanding the additional $10 is ONLY if you want 4G access.

Phone works fine on their current unlimited data plans on 3G. It would be insane to think they could make people pay $10 more with such a small roll out of 4G thus far. It would also SEVERELY limit phone sales.

big dot.

I've been on sprint for almost 10 years...and while they have had their bumps, their data network and prices have simply been the best offered in my opinion.

I take it you forgot about the $10 bump for the iPhone 3G. You have to pay it wether you have 3G coverage or not.
