Yah sorry for the fail on another HTC post. I didn't see any recents and I failed you all!!! :)

Anyway about Sprint, yah you'd have be 60 miles from a major city or it's a bust on the 4G, i'm about 60 miles out from NYC and supposedly we are getting 4G coverage by me, I still don't have 3G by me so this is a big issue.

Plus you can hot spot it on the fly with up to 8 devices. So i can tether my ipad without an issue. I think I'm sold..

We'll see...

It's a good phone probably. Still would never get it over the new iPhone but I'd be lying to say it's bad or something. But I'd also be lying to not say that a better android phone will come out a tiny bit later...and then another one a tiny bit later....and then another one a tiny bit later.

i think...im still getting iphone 4g!

You'll be waiting quite some time, since AT&T hasn't even started deploying LTE yet, so we're still several years away from an iPhone 4G. I'll be getting an iPhone 4 or iPhone HD this summer (depending on what they call it), but it damn sure won't be a 4G.

You know he meant 4th generation.

If the next iPhone is not on Verizon (which is not looking good at this point) then I'll consider getting the HTC Evo.

I really want to switch to Verizon, but what's more important than switching to Verizon is getting off AT&T. I used to have Sprint and they were okay. Better than AT&T that's for sure. Plus, can't go wrong with 4G. Sprint needs to bring it to NYC & Miami, both of which are on the to-do list.

What do I think? There are too many HTC Evo posts on this iPhone forum. ;)

Exactly.
This is the Iphone section.
You want to talk about HTC phones go somewhere else. Theres like a dozen Evo threads already.....

Not really. HTC has made and is about to release all of their phones for each carrier. Incredible for Verizon. Desire for ATT. EVO for Sprint. I think after that they are done for a while. The stock Android doesn't really compare to HTC Sense UI. If you wait for another phone that can do all that the EVO does or more, you will be waiting till at least the end of the year or 2011.

I don't why everyone keeps saying "I dont get 4G by me or near me"

The PHONE WORKS WITH 3G TOO!!!

That being said I have a sprint Hero only because I am on a family plan.

I still prefer the iPhone.

I have used the HD2 which is similar to the evo in terms of physical size, and the droid increddible which has the same software (android 2.1 w/htc sense) and the 1ghz processor.

However I would still use the next gen iPhone over the evo

It is the most impressive spec phone.

But the iPhone works too smoothly and the games/apps are amazing. It sounds weird but their is no clutter on the device, it is a simple, clean beautiful UI that works with out bugs or lag. And the next gen iPhone is supposed to have an awesome screen and multitasking.

However the EVO is awesome. 720P HD Video out, front camera, 8 megapixel camera (same on the incredible) is amazingly clear, 4G. Huge screen It has alot going for it.

How about we combine all the EVO threads into one gigantic one and stop wasting space on this forum?

The EVO won't gain any ground being on Sprint's network until it is released to others with a 4G network. It will fail just like the Pre did or it won't take off until Verizon's/ATT's network goes live.

Because Sprint is marketing it as the FIRST 4G device ever. Touting it's 4G speed in all the commercials and the fact that the phone can do everything minus wiping your ass. Most states in the USA don't have 4G from Sprint. Those that do are so far and few between it's a joke.

Again, just in case you missed it - Sprint is MARKETING the phone as the first 4G phone with all that BLAZING speed! Even though they have a 2h!t network and are bleeding more customers daily than they are getting yearly.

Yeah, excellent choice!

At least Sprint HAS a 4G network which is one more option they have over ATT! so its 3G PLUS 4G vs. 3G only!

...Ya but you can still use the
4.3 inch screen
8 megapixel camera
720P Video
HTC sense
android 2.1
all the apps
their is nothing you cant do with 3G a little bit slower that you would with 4G.

The point is everyone is acting like the phone is worthless unless you have 4G

Is still the best 3G spec'd and feature phone out their..

Lol - It's ON SPRINT! :p

Lol - It's ON SPRINT! :p

As opposed to AT&T which i can't get a signal from at work (in the heart of the financial district of Manhattan) to save my life. At least my co-workers at work with Sprint can use their phones as, you know, phones. Make calls and stuff.

I'm on sprint, and the service does better in Columbus Ohio than At&t. If At&t didn't suck, I would be using an iphone now. In addition, At&t is 20 more a month for the same service, so I am really hoping that the evo is a great phone as advertised. However, Columbus doesn't have the 4g yet. so I have to live on promises, and the phone is not even out, so while i love the speculation, the reality could be different.

What sells apple, is not a spec war, it is the relationship between the hardware and software to provide an excellent, or at least competent and consistent user experience. That is why so many will pay a premium price for their computers, even when windows machines out spec them. What is hardware if the operating system and applications don't take full advantage of it.

I hope google and htc can have a good relationship between the hardware, os, apps, and OS. This is a tall task, so good luck.

I'm in Columbus as well and have had zero issues with AT&T. Their 3G coverage is strong wherever I go in town. There are a few dead spots but not many. I have noticed an increase in coverage since 07. They just need to get their 7.2 mbps network up and running.

Always wondered why everyone hated on Sprint so much. In my experience their network was always in the top 2. I used to stand next to friends in a very populated area not far from downtown Dallas and have great reception when they struggled for signal. Admittedly that was a few years ago. Not sure if the network is as good today as it was then. I've had Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon and AT&T has been my worst experience so far.

I too have always had good luck with my personal Sprint line, and I live in an area with one of the first and most mature 4G deployments.

I don't understand why people are complaining about Sprint when AT&T is by most measures the worse network, at an increased cost.

Sprint as a company has issues with customer retention, but that's not because of the quality of the network, it's the availability of highly desirable phones. They've always lagged on getting desirable phones, and typically only a small selection of decent phones. The EVO 4G is big for them as it really will be the top of the heap Android phone when it hits. If they can manage to market it properly and have learned a thing or two from the Pre launch, I think it will be a huge sucess for them.

Sprint is now the number 2 most reliable carrier in America behind Verizon on call quality and customer satisfaction. AT&T is last behind Tmobile. Here is the link to the article: http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/05/05/att-dropping-more-calls-than-ever/

I love the iPhone but not so much AT&T.

The study is based off of a whopping 4,040 smartphone users which is hardly a realistic sample of all users. But believe what you want. If it forces AT&T to consistently invest in their network then I am all for these kind of inaccurate surveys.

Sure, it's problematic to look at this data as one time point. However, if you look at the data trend, it's not flattering for AT&T.

LOL. I know you are one of the biggest Apple fanboys, but have you taken any statistics course?

A sample size of 4,000 is a very large sample szie just FYI.
