Using the search feature in this forum on the iphone is an exercise in futility. It closes as soon as i start typing. Otherwise seems fine to browse.

strange you say this lol

yesterday night, i was browsing the app store, and found a macrumors app, and it said "on the app store for 1 day only"

just looked and its gone, cost 59p (UK Store)

im guessing it was an unofficial app?

Still available on the Canadian store...."this app will be removed from the app store after today"

There is an excellent iPhone-themed vBulletin skin/style which (I believe) can be had for free. It's on vB.org and I think it was the brainchild of a Spanish or Portugese guy. I was surprised to see that MR didn't have an iPhone-optimised skin/style. :(

I have a Macrumors app on my iPhone that I use all the time and like it a lot. I don't if it's an official Macrumors app but it's pretty good.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A306 Safari/6531.22.7)

For the most part, I use the MR WAP site, as it gets me on here even when I'm on my break at work.

I don't think the OP is specifically concerned about a general MR app... just a way to view the forums more effectively on an iPhone. Currently it's a heavy mission of pinching to zoom.

What I was referring to in my previous post was the style created by this developer and updated by another at post 274 of this thread:
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=171947&page=19

I've regularly used a number of forums with this installed, and something similar for MR might help the iPhone users out a bit.

I think I use some app that relies on Macrumors and Apple Insider RSS feeds. It is better than nothing. Posting and moving between the pages is a pain, though.

Why? Using safari to view this place is better than any app could be. I'd say a better use of time and resources is making there be a minimum "wait" period before newbs can post.

hey guys.

If we did this, I'd want MacRumors to control the app as an "official" version -- to avoid conflicts down the line. If there are any developers who thinks they could do this sort of app for hire, contact me.

Link It was the 17th post of this thread...

Look at this, we had Arn "support" for this nearly 2 years ago... What ever happened with that??! Sal, did you ever email this address or just PM him? Maybe he would give better responses to the email.

The project depends on arn's time, which is split among many projects, not on which way you send him a message. He knows people are interested in the MacRumors app.

Macrumors iPhone app

Is there an official macrumors app availAble out there?? Not sure if this is the correct board to post this but figured I'd get the most responses here. Thank you good people.

It's available RIGHT NOW! :p

Here's how to get it:

Open Safari on your iPhone and navigate to macrumors.com .

Then, click on the + symbol at the bottom and select "Add to home Screen."

You're done!

For the forums, use the same steps, except use https://forums.macrumors.com/wap/index.php

Seriously... that's pretty much all a macrumors app would do at this point. Not every single item on the web has to have an iPhone app.

There was an unofficial (translation: crappy) MR app that is now gone from the app store. I, too, just bookmark the forum and selected the iPhone layout forum in user settings.

Wow I didn't even know there was an iPhone friendly version! Just had it zoomed out and strained my eyes lol

In related news, arn's other site, appshopper.com released its app today.

Since appshopper.com launched around the time the app store opened its doors, that means that MR users have been asking for an app for this site as long as appshopper has been around.

(I will say that it makes more sense for that website to have an app than this one, and, while I've followed this thread since the beginning and am genuinely interested in where it goes, I won't likely be downloading any MR app in the future. I just don't see the need personally.)

Don't hold your breath for a MacRumors iPhone app. It won't make any money so it is not of highest priority.
