Relax folks, it's just a freakin' phone! :p

Besides, think of all the benefits:

1. You wait to hear how everyone hates the screen's "green cast"
2. You wait to hear that reception is "no better" than on the 3GS
3. You wait to hear that the speaker is "no louder" than previous generations
4. You wait to hear that Wi-Fi reception is "worse" than previous generations
5. You wait to hear that it's impossible to hold the phone without it slipping out of your hands.

See, all the bennies you get for waiting for that white iPhone 4 you really want?

:D

Unfortunately, every time I will see Steve Jobs on a stage now, I'm gonna think what is he lying about now? What half-truths is he spewing?
What details is he not telling us about?
I'm gonna take everything he says with a grain of salt and ya know what...I think a lot of other people are now going to as well.
Microsoft did that to me years ago and that's why I'm here at Apple now.
Are they gonna do that to me now too?

So the point of this thread was what exactly?

To state something the world already knew? No White Iphone 4 for pre order today.

No, to relay info from an official, although very low level, Apple source regarding the fractionally small chance that "trying every 2 minutes" would indicate availability "soon" vs. "sometime this summer."

LOL at getting grumpy with the OP - it wasn't HIM who grinched up all the white iPhones Christmas morning.

It was Apple.

I am pissed as well - WTF with using massive amounts of white iPhone images all over the site without some simple honesty?

-waiting for my white.................

I'm not grumpy because of no White Iphone, I wanted and ordered black. The abundance of rather useless threads is getting a little annoying though. Like seriously, how many threads does one need to read about someones order not going through when 90% of the orders (just a guess) aren't going through.

So the official memo from AT&T and the fact that it states right on Apple.com that the white iphone is not available is not official enough?

It took a customer service bot to make it official?

Just checking...

;)

Had white, decided on black

I have the white 3G and really like the white. I thought about it for this phone, but looking at the pictures of it, I decided to not get white. I did it because of the better camera.

Take a photo and surround it with a white background, and then take the same photo and surround it with a black background and 99% of the time the black background will make the photo pop, seem clearer and just overall look better.

While I like the look of the classic Mac white, and it keeps the phone from looking like every other phone out there, I decided to go ahead and get black to make my photos and videos look better. It may not be your taste, but that's why I decided to go black. Plus I get mine sooner. :D Which is why I ended up with a white 3G, it was the only 16G model available when I bought mine.

Isn't the surround of the lens black...even on the white phone.
(The phone is small enough, that I wouldn't think the relfective quality of the back panel would have enough of an impact on the overall picture exposure)

Just ordered my black 32 and white 16 from BB hopefully they some how have the white by launch.

Pre-ordered one black and one white from BB. Even if the white does not come in on the 24th, I (my wife) will be first for a white one at the store.

That is unless we get a phone call later after someone at BB corporate hears from Apple no white.

Well I was getting a white 32g for me and a 16g black for my girlfriend. So I just reserved the black. And I guess I'll wait it out for the white.

sorry but if Apple isn't getting them... BB certainly isn't getting them, which means you aren't getting one (for a while at least)

If Apple doesn't have them, then nobody will. I just hope they are ready to roll them out on launch day, or sometime soon after.

Oh, I see, you're going thread-to-thread, trying to restore some order - "you there, single file and whatnot..." ;)

That's quite an endeavor on iPhone morning - best of luck!

"Isn't available now" isn't the point now, is it? I believe everyone's figured that bit out. I'm merely pointing out that while the OP was grasping at straws, they were straws of the "WHEN might the white iPhones be available" variety.

I hope your black iPhone gets delivered to the wrong house, or at least gets terribly smudged, causing you great regret, lol.:D

I like the idea of white but want to actually handle it before making-up my mind. I reserved a black 16gb to collect from store. My plan is that hopefully when I turn-up they will have white ones. If I don’t like white then I will go ahead and pay for the black but if I like the white I will try and swap there and then. If they don’t agree then I won’t buy that day – reserving means no money lost. If they don’t have any white I may just not buy and will wait for units to appear.

can we exchange the black one for a white late within the 30 day window from apple? assuming the white one gets released within 30 days after launch?

Yes, Apple is having a problem where they can't get their white iPhones shipped directly to them from China, so they're not selling the white iPhone themselves.

They CAN get them shipped to Wal-Mart and Best Buy however, so they will be selling the white model, just not Apple themselves.

In other words, the manufacturer of the phone will not be selling the white model, but all the third-party retailers will.

Makes sense, right???

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Jesus....

I'm holding out for the White. Don't really like the black, and I have enough patience to wait a few extra weeks. Maybe they'll have enough stock soon that they could at least starting selling the white in the U.S.

If you buy a black one with the intention of exchanging for a white one, you are officially a douche. I also wouldn't be surprised if they make you pay a restocking fee or just won't do the exchange at all.

That doesn't make you a douche. If you accept ahead of time that you'll be paying a restocking fee, I don't see the problem in doing it.

Expecting to exchange it WITHOUT a restocking fee would make you a douche.

If I was willing to deal with the administrative hassle and the risk of being stuck with a black iPhone if the white is substantially late, I would certainly try that. I'm just too busy/lazy to not get my iPhone in the mail.

You're not officially a douche unless vertigo can produce his ID as an official from the Douche Police. If so, you're on your own.

I've got a more plausible theory. Black iPhones are bathed in the tears of black unicorns, while white iPhones are bathed in the tears of white unicorns. While its relatively easy to make a black unicorn cry getting white unicorns to cry is proving much more difficult.

Ahhh - Science!!

A Theory on the White iPhone

I've already ordered my black one because honestly, I have no preference on the color of my phone.

But, do you think Apple/ATT have a plan to wait to release the white one till after June ends on purpose. This way, come next year, if they decided to give all the people who's contract expires by the end of 2011, the group who waited for the white will not be eligible because they didn't renew their contract before the end of the first half of the year?

Just speculation...
