[Merged] iPhone 4 pre-order only available in black / not available in white

Perhaps it's the same "memo" that said that the white iPhone won't be available at ATT prior to the start of pre-orders. People claimed that the memo was BS and low and behold.. even Apple didn't have it for pre-order.
Agreed. RadioShack was taking reservations for white 4's today until Apple told them to stop it.
BS. I don't believe that for a second. Of course I didn't believe the white iPhone wouldn't be available at launch yesterday and I was wrong there
So you think that Apple would completely alienate those with FANs just to make it 'limited' at their store? Keep in mind that people with Premier accounts have to either get the FAN removed at/by ATT to go to the Apple Store to buy it, then put the FAN back on, or buy it directly from ATT. ATT will not have that, as it kills all of their corporate accounts.
With that, I call bollocks.

I went to Best Buy today to reserve me iphone or pre-order or whatever you wanna call it.
I went in asking if they would have it on launch day, that I had been hearing a lot of rumors on who would have it day 1 and who wouldn't. They assured me they would. Then I said cool, but bummer about the black only. They said quite the opposite, that they were all good on white so i put my $50 down to reserve a 16 gb white I4. Whats that about?
They weren't able to tell me the time of the opening of their doors but I plan on getting their at least an hour early before whatever time they would open.

this has to be untrue...white being released a bit later sure why not...but limited white...Apple will lose a lot of sales...especially when white on white looks pretty dam unique this time as opposite toe white on black before.
If white was ever limited = i stay with 3GS...yes im getting the new iPhone just because white looks dam clean...and I bet a lot of ppl hv the same thinking as me.

News for you. They're screwed over. There are posts here that the white phone orders at BB were cancelled. I'm sure the RS orders were, too.

Why would Apple care about AT&T FAN customers any more/ less than John Doe consumer? Your "special status" only matters to AT&T. To Apple, your money is no better/worse than anyone else's.

I have a FAN as well. I was told by Apple that it has to be taken off to order it at the Apple store, let alone from their online store.
If you go back through this forum and search for the numbers of threads about this very issue, you'll see what I'm talking about.

As a side note, when I spoke with BB earlier they informed me they were told by Apple to stop taking pre orders for white and that they were in the process of canceling all the pre orders that happened earlier in the day as there was no ETA available
Seems odd and sexist since guys tend to pick black and girls tend to pick white. Not entirely or exclusively, but it tends to trend that way.
It seems odd that best buy would have not have at least called me. I know some BB's were busy but I was there at 11 (they open at 10) and from the looks of things I couldn't have been further down the list than 5th to pre-order.
I'll be calling in the morning to see if my pre-order is still in tact, but it would be strange, even for a large company like Best Buy to take money, then cancel, without so much as a phone call. We'll see I guess. I'll post after I talk to them and let ya know though.

This whole iPhone 4 launch just keeps getting stupider and stupider.
Wait until they say, we will have to push back more. Sorry. You will get one by end of July.
