I really doubt it, why would they not let people preorder them then? By selling them directly in stores it takes so much more time and creates much more confusion... and there is already going to be a ton of that with all the preorders.

To my knowledge the only one who said "later" this summer was AT&T. Apple (who's word matters most), said "as soon as we can". Neither of which imply "end" of summer.

I'm going to say this entire idea is ridiculous. I understand a low inventory of a product may lead to not allowing preorders, but to ONLY have them at Apple stores on launch day excludes a large amount of customers who live no where near an Apple store. I want a white one, but if I can't have it delivered then my 2g phone and I will be spending a little longer together. I can't justify taking vacation time from my job just to stand in line.

Apple lied at the Keynote, they will do it again. It's all smoke and mirrors. I learned that years ago.

Agreed. Why go through the risk of it being longer than 30 days. If I had wanted a white iPhone, I would have waited until it was available.

I wanted white, but now since they wont have white, I want black. But since white is so "rare" now, if white is available i'll get white. I believe they'll have them on launch day. It would be crazy if Apple waited until the end of summer to have white in. They would be pulling an "AT&T" like with MMS. Apple says they had 600k pre-orders, think of how many more that would have had if they released white with it. I know I definitely would have pre-ordered mine if they had white.
