I think it's possible but unlikely. I just think Steve would have mentioned it during the keynote because so many people wish that would happen. It would be a big deal.

Interesting theory.
The biggest problem would come if a month or two from now Apple announces iPhone and iPad versions for Verizon Wireless shipping in the fall. All the Verizon fans who are locked into 2 yr agreements with AT&T will be very unhappy.
Apple's hands may be tied if they are still negotiating and testing the CMDA versions. Or they may have decided to hold off until the LTE (4G) version is ready before announcing Verizon compatibility -- since LTE is supposed to be supported by both AT&T and Verizon.

They tell you in 3 months the phone will be out. You decide not to wait and get the black model. They make a mistake and it comes out instead, in 1 month. You get all butt hurt about how Apple LIED TO YOU and so on.
On the other hand, Apple states it will come out in 2 months and you decide to wait. Apple comes back saying it will be another 3 months before it comes out. You get all upset because Apple LIED TO YOU.
Apple decides not to tell anyone whats going on. Everyone is upset because Apple is not saying anything - EVIL APPLE!
Apple releases the stock they have and it's limited to 10,000. People get pissed because THEY didn't get the phone color of their choice but others did. Apple should be ashamed for not making enough. People should be COMPENSATED. EVIL APPLE!

I just can't see it happening. Apple is too intent on creating one product and mass producing it. A Verizon version, as we all know, would need to be an entirely separate phone. I just can't see Verizon getting one until LTE. Also, I don't see Apple putting out a sub-par phone, which is what a CDMA version would be since it wouldn't be able to handle voice and data at the same time. But then again what do I know.
My business head tells me white has to be desirable to more than just a "few vocal people" or it would not be worth Apple's time to make it. Most of the girls I know are not huge techies and don't care if they have it on launch day, but they absolutely 100% want a white phone and will wait it out. It's a fashion thing for them.
I agree Apple would not make a CDMA version just for Verizon. The rub here is that they are making one for China, so if they already have the factory set up for CDMA for China its not much extra effort to make one for Verizon.
I think the white phone was a late in the production cycle change (added to the line), and they simply haven't been able to produce a sizable qty of them for a true product launch. It would be better to have "some" in all stores than just a handful at launch to satisfy only a few people, or limited availability in select stores.

So, Jobsie said, make it so, and on the 5th day of the 5th month of the 10th year post Y2K, Foxcon parted the assembly line to produce Ying and Yang iPhones. However, Yang is too premature to be let out in the wild for purchase at this time.

He conveniently forgot to mention that was not the case on the unlimited plan.
Now he shows the white iP4 at WWDC but conveniently forgets to mention (possibly) that it won’t be available for 3 more months and it will be Verizon ONLY!

The white iPhone most likely ran into some manufacturing issues. Shiz happens when your a really huge company trying to produce millions of brand new iPhones.
The iPhone 3G was available for upgrade too. Just like the 3GS, and now iPhone 4.
I agree. Apple would never do that. There is too much money to be made for them to limit both carriers to only one color. Just calm down.
