the cases prolly turned yellow on the testing of the white iphone, why else would they hold em back? meh
In which case they should probably announce this on the 23rd before everyone starts lining up at the store as they have already sold their 3G(s) and are using a limbo phone that probably doesn't have web access.

I was half joking- but seriously man there must be 100 threads just in the last week about white iPhones. And the thing of it is, we know no more now than we did when they initially announced they wouldn't be available for pre-order. So with no new information coming in I don't get why everyone is in a frenzy.
When there is news to report on the white iPhones we will see it on this site. Until then it's just wishful thinking and speculation. A lot of people who wanted white aren't going to get it.
I'm really not trying to be mean, I just hate seeing that there are 15 new white iPhone threads every time I look at this forum. And they are all more or less identical.
Maybe because seeing all these threads of people saying why, when and where the white iPhone will be available are getting old. Nobody here has ANY idea about why there are no iPhones or when we will be able to buy them, so it would be nice if people just got over it until either A) Apple says when they will be available. Or B) Apple says nothing on the matter and they show up as available for order on the web store one day.
My guess is B. We will look at the web store one day and be able to select the white iPhone for order/reservation and it will say "Ships by X date."
There's no other reason other than the fact that there's production problems and/or supply shortages. Apple is all about numbers, so there's no reason why they would short change themselves at least 200,000 to 400,000 sales of the white iPhone unless it was just impossible to produce it. When they know, we'll know.
it's gotta be something beyond their direct control. they aren't going to announce at WWDC and just not offer it for hype.

It's just that there have been SO many threads about the white iPhone (or lack thereof) since Tuesday that people are probably getting a little crazy about them. I hope like heck you're right and that SOME info is released soon as to the whereabouts of the white ones, as that was what I'd wanted from the second I saw the leaked photos. Was HIGHLY pissed that they were pulled with absolutely no info as to why or when we might hope to see them, but I went ahead and ordered a black iPhone anyway because I'd like to sell my 3GS.
I agree--it'd just be nice to know SOMETHING.
Well, it does look like the initially planned on the white phones being available for pre-order, as they have the art assets for the white pre-order buttons on their servers:
This likely relates to the color of the button on the web page and not the phone itself. They probably designed a few different versions of the page and they place the pre-order links on more than one page on their site as well.
Most people believe there is some real-world problem that's holding up production. They will ship the phones when they fix the problem.
You seem to believe that they're not shipping them because Apple is being mean or cranky or is just in a bad mood and that they can "change their mind" whenever they want.
I find that outlook to be very, very doubtful.
Truth b told I pre-ordered 32gb black iPhone bcuz of no white availability buy u can bet your money that I'f it comes in, in the 30 day window or 90 days that apple offers I will without a dought pay 10% restocking fee to get it in white. I don't care if they loose money, they should of by now told us something. So eather way they are screwed, I have someone that has a shrink wrap machine that actually seals the box like if it was original again in the wraping so F-u apple I'm still getting what I want.

I mean hell you have plastic sandwiched between to plates of glass (awesome thermal insulator BTW), they probably had them turning *****-brown whilst in the hands of WWDC nerds.

Or they could just not release it till 30 days after the initial shipments go through - then all the black iPhone buyers remorse doesn't matter cause they can't return it.
I don't mind people stating their opinion. That's why we are all here. However there is no need for each of us to create a new thread for every opinion we have. Especially when there are already dozens of threads speculating the same topics.

My wife and I plan on waiting on the white iPhone for as long as it takes, however, I've been periodically checking to see if there have been any updates in stores.
First attempt - over the phone. Girl tells me to preorder the white iPhone online, and of course I know she has no idea what she's talking about.
Second attempt was in person. An employee told me that yes, they would have them in stock, but no, I could not reserve them and would simply have to come to the store early, and wait for one. He also told me that they received word from Apple hq that those reserving black iPhones would not be able to just automatically switch to white ones should they become available. Seemed a little suspicious to me.
Third attempt was more interesting - I called in and waited a whopping 2 and a half hours to speak with someone. Good thing it was on Skype. In any case, the person on the line said that they had received an official bulletin from Apple hq - apparently they get these from time to time - that no white iPhones would be available anywhere on the 24th.
My wife and I had planned on camping out the night before to see if we would be able to get a white one, but this person was absolutely positive based on this bulletin that NONE would be available anywhere.
So I've resigned to just waiting it out and seeing what happens. There's sure to be a frenzy when the white ones do become available. I just hope they won't be a 'limited run' or special edition type o' deal.

That would be fair if there's no online pre-orders. But because there is, Apple would piss off alot of people if the white was available for line-ups only.

So I just called my local Apple Store here in Temecula, Ca to see if they had any update on the White iPhone 4, and I asked if they would have it available on launch. She then replied that they would and I asked if she was possitive and she guranteed me that Apple stores WILL indeed have white iPhone 4's on launch! So stoked! Go ahead and give her a call if you want to give me that "pics or it didn't happen" ishh. Ha! Not too positive on AT&T stores though.
