[Merged] iPhone - White vs. Black (2010 / iPhone 4 Edition)

Finally decided on white. Here is why...

I have been back and fourth over white and black. My girlfriend has decided on white and now so have I.

Couple reasons:
1. Flashy and new with the white front.
2. Just looks a lot better on the hands on videos. The black isn't nearly as appealing as the white in the users hand in my opinion.
3. The main reason: I hate fingerprints and knew they were going to be bad but after seeing this it really turned me off.

Also I am starting to like the grill over the sensors on the white. Adds a bit to it.

Pointless thread but whatever. At least its not about eligibility.

Sure but:

1) Video looks better w/ a black frame. It's optical illusion, sure, but its one that works.
2) White gets dirty looking
3) Black is professional -- though if you are just a school kid probably not a factor.

I still haven't decided. The one reason that is holding me back form white is the white viewing video when I'm watching video, looking at the screen in general I feel would.look better with a black boarder vs a white, especially at night.

I want white because it's fresh and tight
Especially since itdoesnt show figurepritns and because it looks a little dull

1. I don't watch to much video on the iPhone besides the occasional youtube video. Mostly texting, browsing internet, and apps. I'm sure the white front will have my attention for a little while but what new thing doesnt?

3. I'm 19 and a personal trainer. I'm not in a profession where they will care if my phone is black (professional) or white (flashy).

I can't decide which color to get. The white looks old school Apple and won't show fingerprints, which is a huge advantage. The black looks a lot more professional but will show every little smudge or fingerprint.

I think the white looks much better based on the Engadget photos too.

1) I was thinking about this but I think the main reason that the white turned me off for so long is that LAME bubble background they chose... I don't think it looks good on the white. With a solid black background (which is what I will be using) I think the white iPhone will look great.

2) It's glass over the (whatever the white is) and not a plastic like material so the white will not get dirty.

3) This is true to an extent. As someone else mentioned somewhere, while the white is NOT a "girly" color, the black is a bit more masculine. But at the same time (IMO) it's boring. The white looks sleek and new.

When the first pics of the white started surfacing I HATED it... I think when a lot of people see it in person, they will be more turned on to it. The engadget photos are what decided for me.

If you're in a profession where people will be bothered that you have a white iPhone, you can't be in a profession where your work on an individual level makes a difference. Must be a clone profession where you all must be/look/act the same. Yawn.

I'm actually digging the white also.... will probably go black because the wife is getting white. She'll have a pink bumper of course, and if I go with white we wouldn't be able to tell our phones apart

I think black looks pretty sexy, plus bodyguardz keeps finger prints to a minimum That's right, I'm going naked again! (well almost)

I know that some people don't like the look of the white back/black front ... that wasn't what I was addressing. I was addressing the comment

"BUT I disagree that some people want white back/black front. That would just look like an oreo."

It seems like mloffa is saying that she/he doesn't think people want a white back/black front. To which I pointed out that I, in fact, DO want one. How can you think no one would want a white back/black front when I had just said a few posts earlier that I did? I was also referencing my mock-up of such a phone to point out that it doesn't look like an oreo.

I just want to make sure that no one thought I was saying anyone's opinion of what they like or don't like is invalid or wrong. It's absolutely no concern of mine what color you like or don't like.

Hey there. Sorry for all the confusion. I guess I should have worded my response different. And also, it wasn't directly at you, but your mock-up helped. There were other people suggesting two different colors. Sorry for any confusion. Didn't mean it in a bad/personal way.

What I meant was, in my opinion, two different colors wouldn't look good to me. I think this because of how symmetrical the iPhone 4 is and how similar the back and front are. Them both being glass make it seem like if they were two different colors would be odd. This is just my opinion, though. Once again, I apologize. I didn't mean to "attack" you or anything. I would even encourage Apple to at least have the option so people who do like it can get it. It affects me in no way.

The image you've posted is one where the brightness and contrast have both been increased in order to show the light sensors. See how washed-out the icons are? You can't even read the text on the screen. You should not base your decision on such an image, which of course emphasizes the fingerprints.

There should really be no difference in the visibility of fingerprints between the iPhone 4 and any other iPhone/iPod Touch.

Good for you, I still haven't made up my mind though I think both look great, but I can't decide on one. I think the black is so sleek, but the white is just awesome looking. I have two days to decide...

I know the picture brightness is increased and is not the only picture I have used to decide. Also after watching the hands on videos after the WWDC the black you could see how greasy and fingerprinted up they were and the white ones still looked fresh out of the box.

I'm wondering the same thing? I am a professional engineer and work for a very large company. If they needed for me to have a work phone they would give me a BB; my iPhone is for personal use, so it does not matter what color I choose to get it.

Just noticed, is the saphire crystal strengthed iPhone 4 glass screen that is supposed to be the same glass as on helicopters and high speed trains, cracked on the left hand side of that screen???
Lots of finger prints too but that crack don't look good!?

The white front shouldn't be a problem for me. I mostly do web browsing, texting and use some apps. Never really much video watching.

I think I see what you're talking about but I believe that's half a bubble from the wallpaper background of the iPhone.

I think thats the one of the bubbles from the background image.
