Ok guys since it's almost Monday now(EST) so I'm finally safe to say: The update will occur on Tuesday. And BTW there will be no update on MBAs.

Hoping what you said is true.

I've been waiting to buy MBP since October 2009.

i think he means Feb 9th:)
Well, Feb. 9 would be most welcome of course :). Have the current-gen MBP and am in the market for a MBA, although of course I am holding out for what would be the main upgrade for me - 4GB RAM, at least in the top model. Would make perfect sense for both to be updated at the same time...

I hope you're right. I haven't made a computer purchase in 4 months it's driving me nuts

It would suck on 13" and 15" ones, i don't really like to have less than 1024px as the height on my screen

That would require either a change to the unibody design or a lot of free real estate on the top/bottom of the screen with the aspect ratio change.

I'm not saying no, I'm saying it's more than just the LCD switch to make it so.

Personally, assuming there really is an update, I think this will be the last round of 16:10 aspect ratio screens.

For some reason I feel really confident about the 16th, but tomorrow would obviously be nice.

Not getting my hopes up too much though.

How is Christmas morning delayed for another week? It is always on the 25th!

how about this....this wait is like a slutty woman who always puts out...but you've already been dating her for 2 months and she keeps saying next week.

uhmm i'm also waiting to buy my first mac since november and i think after the 6,1/6,2 Macbookpro leak it could be possible that we'll see this time just 2 models..6.1 with 16" 1080p and i5/i7/quad and 6.2 as the 13.1" with i5/i7duo both in widescreen like the dell studio xps?

or is it unreal that apple will release one 16"w for the old 15" and 17" versions after the iMac widescreen adjustment?

I didn't know the new models were coming when I bought it. No need to be a smartass, thanks

Not trying to be a smartass here-- I'm genuinely curious. You just spent over $2K on a computer. From the sounds of this thread, it wasn't a trivial purchase, else you'd say "Eh, screw it-- I'll buy the new one when it comes out."

So my question comes down to this: Why would you drop that kind of money without doing at least a little bit of research first? You obviously knew about this forum, why not check the buyer's guide? These forums have been aflame for months over the prospect of new Macbook Pros. If you need the computer now, obviously go out, buy it, and be happy with it-- but you don't seem to fall into that use case, either.

Maybe I'm strange, but I tend to research any purchase over a certain dollar amount specifically to avoid this kind of buyer's remorse.

I think I am poorer and need more hugs.

I ordered last week, but someone said because it is a BTO, i can't return it or cancel it or replace it with the new model even if it is still within 14 days.

Hmm, work should be ordering my new MBP this week sometime but you know... in some ways... I hope they update NEXT week.

I know that sounds weird but while performance might be a bit better with the new core i5 processors and other updates there's nothing on the horizon that's smoking fast compared to the 2.8Ghz C2D and I'm not really pushing the machine anyway. And in an odd way I'd rather have the last of the old generation, where all the problems have been sorted out, than the first of the new which is traditionally buggy as hell with Apple (sadly).

Plus, you know, it's not actually my money so I'm not as emotionaly invested this time round :D

I mean, I'm going to be doing a lot of web design, graphic design work, and I was just wondering if the new ones would do a better job

of course, without a doubt the new ones are gonna crush the current models of the MBP.
