no...he turned them off to get rid of all these useless and DUPLICATE threads taking up valuable space.

I know where you are coming from- a lot of clutter on the forums, but people come here to talk, you know, excited about forthcoming products, sharing info about stuff they just bought. You have to just accept that it does become somewhat repetitive. We are here by choice (or insomnia) ;).

Dec 21, 2012. The long awaited macbook pro refresh creates worldwide chaos leading to the end of civilisation.

I think you meant...December 12, 2012. The date you specified would be 9 days after the apocalypse, starting a new calendar, and designating that day as 01/09/01 A.R. (After Refresh)

Itll stay the same, but theyll have more special connectors so that you have to shell out a ton of money on adapters that are apple only.

Apple would never raise the price of a new product.

Wrong. The prices of Mac minis went up when the Intel machines were released. Also, the price of one of the White Macbook models went from $999 to $1099 on the release of a new model (this has since gone back to 999 with the release of the unibody Macbooks).

Ok guys since it's almost Monday now(EST) so I'm finally safe to say: The update will occur on Tuesday. And BTW there will be no update on MBAs.

My prediction is an update some Tuesday in February to the 13, 15 and 17" MBP's - performance only no change in looks ...

and the 'one more thing' will be announcing performance updates to the MBA, 4gb RAM, larger SSD and that will be it.

If no announcements/updates are done to the MBA, then I'm sad to guess it could be doomed for whatever reason ... but ... doesn't really make sense, Apple should have something to compete with the company's who copied Apple's thin and light mission ... there's new subcompact Dell's, Sony's, Lenovo's and all Apple has so far in this area is the MBA which desperately needs an update.

Does anyone think that Apple will change the MBP's display to 16:9? I'm not saying I necessarily think that they will; I'm just curious to see what others think.

No way, The MacBook Pro's are very expansive with that specs and i think that even if they make them better they will be inferior to most 1000$+ PCs so i say 5% Chances for a Higher Price
80% for the same one
15% for lower ones

I hope for lower ones!

I was just thinking today that they might do this, after all they did with their iMac range - this was a silent upgrade, too?. It would make for much better video editing and video playback.

So I am completely new to mac's and I decided to get a Macbook Pro, but I'm waiting for the new one to come out. I decided I'd get the 13" with the better processor and a few other upgrades for about $2100AUD which I am happy to pay.
But I was just curious if when the new ones come out, to get the same thing with the same specs will be much more because it's new...?
Does anyone know anything? Do they follow some sort of pattern or something, thanks. :)

They better not. A core i5 & i7 with a good dedicated GPU are very cheap if you look what others are making. ;)

For the price of a macbook 13 inch, C2D 2 gb 160 gb ram, currently there are core i7 (quad core), 4gb, 1TB HDD and HD5730 with 17inch screen from Asus ( which are the most reliable laptop makers, so Apple has no argument against them in terms of build quality )

So there is no way they'll be able to raise prices. And the LED screens of current Macbook's are just cheap ones, might have well stuck CCFL in them but it's just marketing

there is no doubt that apple will put out an "i5" in their 13". Will they put an I7? Would be interesting...

I think Apple will put an i7 in their 15 inch. They usually go for a top of the line cpu and in the dual core realm, that is the i7 ( dual core version ).

Maybe they'll put the i7 quad core in the 17 inch macbook. This is just looking at how they build the current MBP line.

It would suck on 13" and 15" ones, i don't really like to have less than 1024px as the height on my screen
