Well played. This seems like something that was at first just a joke among their marketing people and then somehow the higher ups thought it was not just funny but true so they decided to use it. Great stuff.

:apple: just got punked

Before I got the original iPhone, I was a Motorola guy. So I have to say, this makes me smile. I still have a lot of love for Moto.

I think the problem lies in the fact Apple used to produce some of the best hardware out there, However sometime around when they switched to intel the quality of their products (hardware wise) has drastically dropped.

Back in the day they would have never of released a product with such an obvious issue as the reception on the latest iPhone. It simple appears they are more about profits than quality nowadays. which does not justify the "Apple Tax" on products.

Products are now rushed and Apple as a company is spreading it's self too thin with all their initiatives, which is going to cause some major concernes in the future.

Just my 2c.

I hate to say this...I really do. But, I'm going to take a serious look at this phone when it comes out. It'll still be within my 30 return period.

Unless Apple decides to announce a fix for the iPhone reception.

I really need a phone that can make phone calls ya know?

I was in the local Verizon store asking about the Droid X. I asked about the "hump" on the back of the phone that I saw in one photo. The sales dudes started cracking up laughing. They already heard about names being made up like "Droid Igor" and "Hunchback from Motorola."

Glad to see we can all laugh at each other's smart phone. That's healthy, don't you think?

Holy crap, that thing is ginormous.

I don't know if I'd want a phone that large. However, I am a little on the fence as to whether I'm going to upgrade to iP4 or not...... I'm starting to look at other options, and this (or another Droid) may be a good one (if I could get past its size).

EDIT: +1 to their marketing team.... good jab.

It is a funny jab and the droid x will be a great phone. I'm a little unsure about the motoblur though. I had the original droid and it was a great phone.

its 14 days....

You know, everyone's saying that Apple is laughing all the way to the bank even with this reception issue but they need to be careful. Blood is in the water and if other cell phone companies can get some momentum Apple may have problems later on. They are slowly earning a reputation for shoddy quality control. That reputation is not earned overnight nor can it be shed overnight.

Will Apple stop making money? Of course not. But shareholders will be unhappy if, for example, Apple makes $350 million dollars next year when, if they had handled things better, they could've made $400 million.

Perception is reality. The advertising gurus for other cell phone manufacturers are probably catching on to the Apple mess and will (already are) take advantage of it.

And it just might work...

This has been said time and time again, it's NOT Motoblur. It's some sort of new OS skin Motorola has developed specifically for the Droid X.

Yeah, the droid looks like it might be the best phone on the market... for the next month or so anyway!

I hear they've really improved their software for this one too. The bump is a bit unsightly though, I agree.

That's what happens when you become the most popular brand. Microsoft took its share, so has toyota, so has walmart, so has best buy, and google....once you become famous, be prepared to be scrutinized.

Yea, but you can easily shake the haters away.

1.7 million in 3 days. Enough said.

Is it me or there are just too many different Droid phones out there? I've lost track of who makes which Droid. Droid X is what. There are HTC Incredibles, Android from Google, HTC EVO, HTC Aria. Too many hardware based on same OS....what a mess.

Absolutely. Having a choice sure sucks.

Everytime one of these ads come out, my friend who is an android fan gets a kick out of it by posting these links on FB page...To be honest, it is getting to me ! for some reason, I can't find images or videos to make fan of android..

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

1.7 million in early sales are great, but that's just the party loyal.

The question is, can Apple fix the issues and repair their image in the public eye fast enough to get the other 90% of their sales figures- regular Joe/Jane consumer.

Those regular folks have been the secret to Apple's iPhone success since 2007.

wont be long before it is buy one get one free

I give it 2 months and they will be begging people to buy them

This has been said time and time again, it's NOT Motoblur. It's some sort of new OS skin Motorola has developed specifically for the Droid X.

It's some reduced version of motoblur (referred to as ninja blur in some places). It's still a UI skin, few of which are praised as enhancing android.

Absolutely. Having a choice sure sucks.

iPhone fans dont like choices. A quick look at the OS tells you that. Not ot mention letting Steve Jobs play daddy and tell them what they should and should not be looking at. The censorship of classic novels in iBooks is just another example of how ridiculous it is. Very glad I stuck with my Evo and passed on iP4 :)
