Not our job to convince you. You obviously want the MBA since you posted here in the MBA section. You should probably wait now that the MBA rumors are back. See what happens to it. Maybe you will have a choice of two or three different MBAs.
The MBP is simply too big for my needs. I am torn because I love Apple but the Vaio is a better spec'd machine and I am in Windows a majority of the time anyway

relaxAre you a teenager who can't make any decisions without adults?
Yes, usually people willing to spend that kind of money don't need guidance in making a decision. I would not let somebody else spend my up to 2 grand!
Toshiba R700...3 pounds with a i5....if you are a major Windows user![]()
Just priced one out with those options. Cost is $4,319.99.Not gonna Lie, I just read the specs and options on the Viao Z and I must say theta computer alone makes the MacBook Air and <snip>
I thought apple was about CHOICE for the consumer
Where did you get that impression ?![]()

Think I'll stick with the MBA.
What is wrong with your MBP, that you plan on replacing it with the VAIO ?![]()
It can have the most magical specs on the planet, but is it still running Windows? Okay, that's a huge negative. Does it have the cheap, plasticy feel that's synonymous with Windows machines? Okay, that's another huge negative. Is there a resale market? A place where you can get it fixed? A company that will back it up with updates?
I think there are plenty of people that would groove on this box. That said, I think there's a baseline low level of quality that is par for the course when you buy a Windows machine. Maybe this one is different, but I have no faith in it.
It's a VAIO which means, there is a resale market, and there is someone who will fix it.
As for your critique of the Windows OS, whilst you may prefer Snow Leopard, Win 7 is not a "negative" for many users, it is a matter of personal tastes.
The plastic feel of a windows boxes is somewhat alleviated by VAIO design, well some vaio designs, but I don't like it, so I agree with you on that point.
Not gonna Lie, I just read the specs and options on the Viao Z and I must say theta computer alone makes the MacBook Air and Pro a Joke.
The Z can have:
512SSD
8GB Ram
It has the 330GT but with 1GB of Vram and Intel Graphics standard
Core i5 or i7
A 1680-1900 display standard
3lbs
And it has all the ports and Blu Ray all the whiners complain the Air doesn't have.
The 13inch Z series laptop Makes Apple entire lineup look dated or just lacking with more CHOICE and options for the consumer.
I thought apple was about CHOICE for the consumer, if I want a 512SSD in a MacBook Air and that option will cost 1500 then let me do so. At least give us the choice.
Yup, that's what a messageboard is - a place to share opinions. I'm not a fan of Windows, but there are plenty of people with great reasons to use it. I am expressing my personal taste, obviously.
I had no idea there was a resale market for Vaios, but it makes sense - since they're better than the average Windows box. As far as Sony backing them up, my only use of a Vaio with Windows ME. That was a nightmare getting driver updates through Sony!
