I gambled and lost. I was debating on which to get I even posted a thread for help. Thanks to those that posted. But I haven't been more upset with a piece of hardware. I went with the iPhone because of its popularity. Went with what I thought was the more polished company over Android. Guess I was wrong.

Talked for a whole 5 minutes out of at least 12 attempts to make calls only to find out there is a hardware flaw with thu antenna. That coupled with horrible phone service with AT&T this is a disaster. Not to mention the data cap !

I was hoping for a rich phone experience. But all I have is a glorified ipod that just looks good. I will be switching to the Evo asap. If a bad battery is my only hurdle I'll take my chances. Not many new features on this phone either. Facetime is wi fi only which I knew before but with all these other problems I'm passing on the iPhone 4. Maybe I'll try again next year.

Mmmm every phone every made has the antenna issue not just the iphone. There are videos proving this so that is a moot point... Data cap... You will have that anywhere else you go... Ill stop there since your two points are completely flawed. If you want the evo go for it just dont sit and make excuses.. And don't reply back to me that your not making excuses and not asking to be convinced LOL.

whats up with the trolls lately? people need to stop justifying them selves because they bought an android.. stop making stuff up like "i tried the iphone"
who cares use what you like.

FYI i dont even believe the OP had an iphone.

Who cares what you like?

They came and posted their opinion...agree with it or don't and move on.

I have loved my iPhones and am VERY happy to see Android giving Apple some competition.

If you go Evo, just never expect any 4G service. A friend of mine bought that phone on launch day and returned it for another android phone.

i've used both phones. Android is pretty hot. It's just a bit choppy doing multi touch but after putting swype on the device...loved it!

it's just iphone4 is just as hot. Hot vs hot battle.

I totally agree with the OP, I switched from a 3GS over to Sprint and got the Evo... long story short it was the worst mistake ever! The Evo battery sucks it would literally be at 60% 2 hours after I took it off the charger and dead before I got off work. The big screen is ok, but it's almost too big for a phone and the phone itself it HUGE (Droid X is even bigger!) The phone also lagged all the time, you can't tell it has a 1GHZ processor because it's slow, not to mention even though the camera is 8MP the iPhone still takes better pics and videos. Android has a lot of catching up to do to be on par with Apple's iOS. Not to mention the build quality of the Evo is crap compared to the iPhone.

there is a big difference between posting your opinion, and trolling..

Yes clearly nothing better in the history of the world has existed that is greater than the combo of the EVO and Sprint Wireless.

HAHA.. I almost typed it all out without laughing.

Enjoy your EVO and Sprint my friend.. Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy.

Not sure why you had to stop down and tell everyone. Please tell me you will spend this much time on an android related forum introducing yourself.

I get 4G service. Don't think I would have returned it if I didn't as I didn't buy it just for 4G service.

It is amusing the OP has 11 posts on MacRumors and 7 of them are in this thread.

You are not hinting that the iPhone/AT&T combo is something to rave about are you?

Love my iPhones in the past but as long as it is on AT&T I'm passing. If it was released on Sprint or Verizon would buy another one that day.

If your battery was dieing before you even got to work did you try to exchange it at all? That is a defect.

Before you buy an Evo do check out a Samsung

The spec is very impressive and you can pick them up new on Ebay for a good price. 4" super amoled screen,Flash compatible,5mp camera with video 720p@30fps, 512k of RAM, 1ghz processor they even chuck in an FM radio!..

I'm surprised it got this many responses -- you'd think Macrumors members would know better than to avoid obvious provocation. The best way to deal with these kind of "look at me!" posts is to ignore them or just wish them well on their way!

To the OP, good luck man! Sorry it didn't work out for you! :)

It was going dead by the time I got off work (leaving at the end of the day). My iPhone always lasted all day. The Evo is a step in the right direction for Android but its not on the same playing field as the iPhone. And having to use task killers and tweaking this and that to get good performance should not be required, the best thing about Apple is their products just work.

Love my evo. Didn't have a problem with my 3gs but was unhappy with AT&T's coverage. Im happy to see some competition against Apple

Competition is definitely a good thing to keep Apple moving forward with new features and better products.

Have you tried the overclocking to improve battery life? I use that and my battery life has been outstanding.

Wi-Fi......are you losing connection or just thinking it is a bad connection due to "bars"? Bars of course mean nothing. Don't go by those if you are.

Battery door....not sure there. Mine fits nice and snug.

Keyboard......have you tried Swype? Excellent keyboard.

Nope. Didn't try overclocking for battery life. My Wi-Fi connection was pretty darn slow (in addition to showing only a couple bars) even when I was 5 feet from my router.

The battery door wasn't a huge problem, but mine def didn't fit very snugly.

I did get Swype and I like it a lot. I found that it was a little difficult to get the correct capitalization and punctuation though.

Don't get me wrong, I think that it is possible to "tweak" an EVO into a pretty nice device. It does, however, take some significant tweaking. I used to be into that stuff in college, but now that I am very busy I personally would prefer a phone that works great out of the box. The EVO was just too much effort for me.

I switched from the iPhone to an Evo... it was a terrible experience and I bought the iPhone 4 yesterday and couldn't be happier. Thought it was worth a shot, but in the end it was just a big headache.

Exactly, it is an ok device and does have some nice features, but I don't want to have to research and go crazy making tweaks and worrying about what apps are running all the time, way too much work is exactly right.

You hit the main reason I own Apple computers. They work and don't have to be tweaked. Imjust one with poor AT&T. The evo isnt a bad phone once you get it set up but does require being tweaked. Now if sprint got the iphone I would buy one in a second.
