I too had the Evo and totally agree with the OP bigtime. My iPhone 4 battery life is loads better, LOVE the apps/games and the Retina display is amazing. Only thing I miss is unlimited everything plan from Sprint.
Thanks for proving my point. Please share with us how the Nexus One out-specs the iPhone 4. And please share with us how the problems with the Nexus One from launch (3G/screen issues) make it a better product.
Your post is full of troll-like statements only made to piss people off. Please go back in your hole.
For some reason some people want to irrational hate on Apple, so they have to puff up other devices, because they have taken a stand against a company. The end up denying themselves the pleasure of using the best piece of hardware, simply because they have taken a ridiculous position on hating apple.
Regardless of who makes something, you should go with what device bests suits your purposes. Undoubtedly there are people out there where the android handsets do that. However in a lot of cases I know people are just irrationally depriving themselves of using a product they would get even more enjoyment from by switching to an iDevice.
It's not always about "specs" but about performance.
Jamarcus Russell is 6'6, throws a football 80 yards on 1 knee, strong, fast, etc.
Drew Brees is barely 6 foot, not exactly swift-footed, good arm strength, but not 80 yards-strong.
Who would you rather have as your QB?
Case closed.
how is that a troll post?
it's his opinion.
and at least he didn't say the evo was top gun.
the nexus one is probably top to him since it gets it's updates from Google directly, and not from Google to HTC to Sprint.
if him saying the iPhone is inferior to the droid = trolling,
what is with everyone saying that the droid is inferior to the iphone?
it's the same difference, and it's been dragged out an extreme amount of times.
it's a matter of preference, and no operating system is officially better than the other. they both have their ups and downs, and they're two completely different takes.

I've seen him boot his home PC via RDP with WinPE from his phone.

Who wants to run windows? Yuck
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the traditional free-market model; where I buy an operating system from a company who's prime interest is making a good operating system and being accountable for it... not one who's interests lie elsewhere.
Considering his enterprise of 4000+ users are all windows based, he can remotely boot and reimage a PC from his phone. Pretty sweet.
On a side note.. That's your response? Just because the iPhone will NEVER have that capability, and you have nothing better to say, you respond with that? It's past your bedtime, be gone.
Of course you realize 99.9% of us don't give a rat's a$$ about remotely booting or reimaging a PC. Pretty sweet huh dude?
I was one of the first in line to get an HTC EVO. For the first couple of weeks I was content. But thats when things started to go sour.
- Dust under the screen
I've had the phone for about a week and it already had dust in the upper left hand corner. With some searching on some EVO forums, apparently this is very common with not only the EVO but also the HTC Hero. Thats just unacceptable. My Palm Pre which I used for 1 year didn't have any dust at all under the screen.
- LCD screen quality
When compared with the iPhone 4, the colors look bland and washed out. For those of you who are familular with LCD technology, IPS is the best type due to the beautiful colors it can produce. Typical cell phone LCD screens are made of a cheaper kind of LCD called TN which that EVO uses. I have one of the better version of the LCD screen. I got lucky and received a 003 screen which has deeper black colors and accurate colors. However, when comparing it to the iPhone 4's screen, it looks like crap.
- Laggy screen responce
HTC decided to cap video to 30fps, but this is also affecting screen input. When you type too quick, the letters will not catch causing you to mispell words. I tried typing as fast as I could on the iPhone 4 and didn't miss one letter.
- Sprints 4G is over rated
I live in a city where 4G has been present for over a year and its not all its cracked up to be. I barely get above 3 megs at most and on average saw about 2 megs. I traveled to other 4G citities and saw about the same. I doubt Sprint will improve this since they can't even get their 3G network right.
- Battery life is terrible
I do light web surfing and text messaging here and there. I take it off the charger at 8a and by the time its for bed at 11p, its almost all drained. Thats what 4G, GPS, Bluetooth all turned off. And I manually end tasks of any programs running in the background periodically. I don't know why they included Sprint TV since it drains about 1% every 1 minute.
- Cheap feel
The whole phone is made of plastic except for the stand which looks like its made of stainless steel. The phone doesn't feel as solid as the iPhone... heck, any iPhone for that matter. I compared this with my friends iPhone 4GB 1G, and his phone is more solid feel then the EVO.
- Android OS isn't mature yet
Most of the popular apps I tried were either not compatible with the phone or they looked like crap. They are not as beautiful working and looking as the worst app in the Apple App Store. Scrolling isn't as smooth which is sad since it has the fastest CPU processor available to man-kind at the moment.
If their wasn't an iPhone 4, I would still keep my HTC EVO since it is the best phone out right now in my humble opinion. I like the LED notifications and live backgrounds. But those aren't enough to keep me. In the end the HTC EVO was fun, but its time for a better phone. iPhone 4, here I come.
Hello iAd.
This may not matter to a lot of people but I also think it's interesting to note that with all the flack Apple is getting lately for being "sneaky" and "possessive" it seems like google gets a free pass in the techno-blog press.
People like to act like Google is the Robin Hood of the software world because they give so much of their stuff for "free." The reality is that they were never a software company - they've always been a marketing research and analytics company first and foremost. They've made their fortune on collecting and cataloging your interests and selling it... so I've always been a little apprehensive about putting one of their "free" platforms in my pocket.
Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the traditional free-market model; where I buy an operating system from a company who's prime interest is making a good operating system and being accountable for it... not one who's interests lie elsewhere.
But, Apple was angry that Google came over into the Mobile Phone business. Right? Saying they didn't enter the search engine business, la la la.
But Apple hasn't been making cell phones for that long, and it's an obvious thing to do.
rookie1082, you're the classic example of the android user (though you claim to own an iphone?) who just doesn't get it. You talk about iphone users being "brainwashed" into using a device with "inferior specs" and less ability to be modded to do strange things like remotely boot a PC.
You clearly understand nothing about how and why people like apple's products. They're intuitive. They provide a good user experience by integrating hardware and software. They're physically attractive.
This is the same old debate about mac/PC, particularly the bit from the people who like to build custom PCs. Most people don't care about specs. They don't care about modding the battery compartment, and they don't care about remotely booting a PC. They want a phone that does relatively straightforward tasks that can be accomplished out of the box. If that's not you, then great, buy what's best for you - but lose the condescending attitude.
