I too had the Evo and totally agree with the OP bigtime. My iPhone 4 battery life is loads better, LOVE the apps/games and the Retina display is amazing. Only thing I miss is unlimited everything plan from Sprint.

Thanks for proving my point. Please share with us how the Nexus One out-specs the iPhone 4. And please share with us how the problems with the Nexus One from launch (3G/screen issues) make it a better product.

Your post is full of troll-like statements only made to piss people off. Please go back in your hole.

You get pissed off talking about phones? Jeez man. Really?

My buddy has 128 GB of storage space on his phone. How? He has 4 Memory cards which he keeps INSIDE his battery case. Pretty sweet mod, if you ask me. One card has movies, another has music, another has WinPE and other tools for his work, and lastly one is his daily driver. It's ridiculous. I've seen him boot his home PC via RDP with WinPE from his phone. Definitely cool.

From what I understand, the 3G issue was software based - which has been fixed for the most part. There are still those people with crappy 3G coverage that are complaining, but that's not Google's problem.

Screen issues? What screen issues? My friend has a nexus and with cyanogen's mod his phone is faster than my iphone from apps to browsing. He has never complained of screen issues. I can only imagine how much FASTER his phone will get with Froyo once Cyanogen gets his hands on it.

Lets be honest -- The Devs on Android are bar none better than Devs on iPhone. While iPhone devs are trying to figure out HOW to unlock an iPhone, Android devs are slipstreaming devices and making them quicker, smoother, and unlocking internal hardware to add features (i.e. Nexus one's 720p recording).

how is that a troll post?
it's his opinion.

and at least he didn't say the evo was top gun.
the nexus one is probably top to him since it gets it's updates from Google directly, and not from Google to HTC to Sprint.

if him saying the iPhone is inferior to the droid = trolling,
what is with everyone saying that the droid is inferior to the iphone?
it's the same difference, and it's been dragged out an extreme amount of times.

it's a matter of preference, and no operating system is officially better than the other. they both have their ups and downs, and they're two completely different takes.

For some reason some people want to irrational hate on Apple, so they have to puff up other devices, because they have taken a stand against a company. The end up denying themselves the pleasure of using the best piece of hardware, simply because they have taken a ridiculous position on hating apple.

Regardless of who makes something, you should go with what device bests suits your purposes. Undoubtedly there are people out there where the android handsets do that. However in a lot of cases I know people are just irrationally depriving themselves of using a product they would get even more enjoyment from by switching to an iDevice.

I hate Apple... but I sure do love my past and present iPhones!

It's not always about "specs" but about performance.

Jamarcus Russell is 6'6, throws a football 80 yards on 1 knee, strong, fast, etc.

Drew Brees is barely 6 foot, not exactly swift-footed, good arm strength, but not 80 yards-strong.

Who would you rather have as your QB?

Case closed.

I don't even know who they are ;_;

Thank you. Apple peeps are saying how Android fanboys have come out more to defend their product since iP4 has come out... But in reality i haven't seen this many iPhone 4 vs (Insert android device here) topics since i've been reading and lurking!

Seems to me like iPhone owners are the ones who feel intimidated and the Reception issue isn't making it any better.

OK. Jamarcus russel has 50 excellent devs working to improve his performance on a daily basis. Drew brees has a few known devs working to Unlock that hidden speed (jailbreak and unlock baseband) without the NFL (apple) finding out about the steroid use and suspending him (voiding warranty).

LMAO @ Jamarcus Russell comparison. But the answer is Brees by a landslide, but heck Id take Helen Keller over Russell so that isnt saying much :D

Who wants to run windows? Yuck

Considering his enterprise of 4000+ users are all windows based, he can remotely boot and reimage a PC from his phone. Pretty sweet.

On a side note.. That's your response? Just because the iPhone will NEVER have that capability, and you have nothing better to say, you respond with that? It's past your bedtime, be gone.

This may not matter to a lot of people but I also think it's interesting to note that with all the flack Apple is getting lately for being "sneaky" and "possessive" it seems like google gets a free pass in the techno-blog press.

People like to act like Google is the Robin Hood of the software world because they give so much of their stuff for "free." The reality is that they were never a software company - they've always been a marketing research and analytics company first and foremost. They've made their fortune on collecting and cataloging your interests and selling it... so I've always been a little apprehensive about putting one of their "free" platforms in my pocket.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer the traditional free-market model; where I buy an operating system from a company who's prime interest is making a good operating system and being accountable for it... not one who's interests lie elsewhere.

Hello iAd.

Of course you realize 99.9% of us don't give a rat's a$$ about remotely booting or reimaging a PC. Pretty sweet huh dude?

I tried out a Sprint Overdrive for 30 days here in Raleigh. The 4G network here really isn't that great. The highest speed I achieved was 3Mbps which is quite a bit under their claim of 6-7Mbps average. Most of the time I had 1-2Mbps on 4G which is pretty much what I get on my iPhone on AT&T's 3G.

So I cancelled. I figure if I need to connect with my laptop I can pay $20 and use my iPhone (Which is ridiculous, but it is cheaper than a $60 per month data card)

I can't comment much on Android as I haven't used it much. I have tried playing with my friend's HTC Hero but everything just felt laggy compared to my 3GS at the time. (3GS does have a faster processor than the hero though.)

I was one of the first in line to get an HTC EVO. For the first couple of weeks I was content. But thats when things started to go sour.

- Dust under the screen
I've had the phone for about a week and it already had dust in the upper left hand corner. With some searching on some EVO forums, apparently this is very common with not only the EVO but also the HTC Hero. Thats just unacceptable. My Palm Pre which I used for 1 year didn't have any dust at all under the screen.

- LCD screen quality
When compared with the iPhone 4, the colors look bland and washed out. For those of you who are familular with LCD technology, IPS is the best type due to the beautiful colors it can produce. Typical cell phone LCD screens are made of a cheaper kind of LCD called TN which that EVO uses. I have one of the better version of the LCD screen. I got lucky and received a 003 screen which has deeper black colors and accurate colors. However, when comparing it to the iPhone 4's screen, it looks like crap.

- Laggy screen responce
HTC decided to cap video to 30fps, but this is also affecting screen input. When you type too quick, the letters will not catch causing you to mispell words. I tried typing as fast as I could on the iPhone 4 and didn't miss one letter.

- Sprints 4G is over rated
I live in a city where 4G has been present for over a year and its not all its cracked up to be. I barely get above 3 megs at most and on average saw about 2 megs. I traveled to other 4G citities and saw about the same. I doubt Sprint will improve this since they can't even get their 3G network right.

- Battery life is terrible
I do light web surfing and text messaging here and there. I take it off the charger at 8a and by the time its for bed at 11p, its almost all drained. Thats what 4G, GPS, Bluetooth all turned off. And I manually end tasks of any programs running in the background periodically. I don't know why they included Sprint TV since it drains about 1% every 1 minute.

- Cheap feel
The whole phone is made of plastic except for the stand which looks like its made of stainless steel. The phone doesn't feel as solid as the iPhone... heck, any iPhone for that matter. I compared this with my friends iPhone 4GB 1G, and his phone is more solid feel then the EVO.

- Android OS isn't mature yet
Most of the popular apps I tried were either not compatible with the phone or they looked like crap. They are not as beautiful working and looking as the worst app in the Apple App Store. Scrolling isn't as smooth which is sad since it has the fastest CPU processor available to man-kind at the moment.

If their wasn't an iPhone 4, I would still keep my HTC EVO since it is the best phone out right now in my humble opinion. I like the LED notifications and live backgrounds. But those aren't enough to keep me. In the end the HTC EVO was fun, but its time for a better phone. iPhone 4, here I come.

Cool! Just dont hold your iPhone in your left hand or its useless and for sure dont drop it! The Evo may feel cheap to you but it least it doesnt shatter when dropped from waist level :) iPhone 4 is a great phone and Android is obviously not for you. Good choice.

Hello iAd.

Yeah... well I'm not exactly thrilled about that. We'll see how it plays out though.

Looks like one of two ways- Apple decides to up and change their entire business model in order to enter a whole new industry for them and compete with the likes of Google

- or -

all the outrage (like everything recently) turns out to be for nothing and iAd simply becomes little more then a popular incentive that brings free high quality apps to the App Store... as Apple claims it's intended.

you can only enter the business in one way, and that's to enter the business.
apple wasn't always a software company, they used to have microsoft make all of their software at first. but yet, you're loyal to apple now and not microsoft. why not use windows mobile?

basing a product sheerly by the company that releases it is not fair.
i use an iphone, i love my iphone. I've used an android phone, and I was very impressed by it. I like my iPhone more, but to be honest I think it's only because I'm used to it. I can definitely see the appeal in android phones, and I wouldn't really mind if I was for some reason forced to switch over to one.

And you know, not that this has anything to do with this conversation directly.
But, Apple was angry that Google came over into the Mobile Phone business. Right? Saying they didn't enter the search engine business, la la la.
But Apple hasn't been making cell phones for that long, and it's an obvious thing to do. Cell phones are all over the world right now, it's not like everyone is crazed over a search engine. Everyone uses a cell phone, and it's a device that they always have with them so it's obvious to make that of most any product, as a multi-tasker.
Sharp, Samsung, HTC, Motorola never entered the business of making computers, yet Apple has the right to enter the business of cellular devices.
Just sounds hypocritical to me.

But anyway.

Droid is nice. So is iPhone.

rookie1082, you're the classic example of the android user (though you claim to own an iphone?) who just doesn't get it. You talk about iphone users being "brainwashed" into using a device with "inferior specs" and less ability to be modded to do strange things like remotely boot a PC.

You clearly understand nothing about how and why people like apple's products. They're intuitive. They provide a good user experience by integrating hardware and software. They're physically attractive.

This is the same old debate about mac/PC, particularly the bit from the people who like to build custom PCs. Most people don't care about specs. They don't care about modding the battery compartment, and they don't care about remotely booting a PC. They want a phone that does relatively straightforward tasks that can be accomplished out of the box. If that's not you, then great, buy what's best for you - but lose the condescending attitude.

There are a lot of things I genuinely like about the Android-based phones, inclusive of the Droid and Evo. But the whole package just feels....fragmented and "under construction" to me. Nothing works as seamlessly as it does on the iPhone and the UI is pretty much the wild west for app developers with even some of the basic menu's not always being intuitive and easy to use. It represents a world that lacks many standards and those that do exist are more like "suggested guidelines."

Apple may rule their OS with an iron fist, but that at least ensures a consistent and polished overall user experience. Even the fart apps feel more finished!

Android fanboys have iPhone envy. Plain and simple. They feel like they need to invade every iPhone forum or community and spew ignorant rants in order to make themselves feel better about their purchases. They contort facts into lies in order to push an agenda. It's not hard to spot one here anymore. I am surprised that mods allow these people to continue to post when they are only trying to start a fight.

There are a few Android users who contribute in a positive nature but those people are far and few between.
