I just got off the phone with my local AT&T store to confirm that they will be allowing pre-orders to pick up there phones starting at 7am. (even though I know AT&T confirmed this, you never know what a random store may end up doing) She was a little clueless, and when I asked she responded with "no, you can actually pre-order now." I told her that I had already pre-ordered and just wanted to be sure of the pick-up time, to which she replied "no, since your direct fulfillment, your phone wont be shipped till later, and we will call you when it arrives. I then informed her that the phones are currently sitting in Dallas with an expected delivery to the stores on 6/18. She seemed surprised and said "well I guess you will be ok then." Seems that some of the AT&T store employees may not even be fully aware of how the pre-order process is currently working. Kinda funny to think that those employees have no idea that customers are out there tracking the movement of planes, and know more about the whereabouts of their inventory than they do, lol. :D Even if they dont call me, I'll still show up on Fri because I'll know right when my phone hits the store. Kind of annoying seeing as how I work right across the street from the store, and can see the UPS trucks when they make their drops.

Your funds were put on hold. Usually they hold for only a few days, then it's place back on your account.

It will be removed in the next day or so, or whenever they ship it to your house.

its not shipping to my house...im picking up from the store. my receipt says 'account will be charged when item is SHIPPED' hmmm....

mine was scheduled to be delivered today, but has been put on hold in louisville, ky. It says this was done by the receiver, but I sure as hell didn't do it. I wonder when it will resume shipping.

Not surprising that many of the store employees are clueless. That's why I'm going to try and con them into giving me the phone when it arrives at the store on the 18th. :D

Hey when I see the UPS truck making the drop at AT&T, maybe I'll snap a photo and post it on here for a sort of live delivery update, lol.

more weird things...my bank account was just replaced with the money they put on hold??? are they going to charge me???? this is so confusing....

Same thing happened to me. The money is magically back in the account without any record of ATT taking it.

A friend of mine said ATT will do that to make sure you have the money in the account then when the item ships, they will charge you again.

My UPS tracking just updated with a departure scan from Dallas:

DALLAS/FT. WORTH A/P,
TX, US 06/17/2009 8:36 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN

Hey guys thought you might be interested in this, it's an excerpt from a thread over @ engadget:

This is a direct quote from Mike N. in this post

"My contact at apple says all the tips from sites like engadget really helped track down the pre shipped phones and put a stop to it. My contact is high up there. Also says that a few slipped through the hole by shipping out with the bulk for stores etc - nothing they can do about those."

Please take the above info with a dash of sodium chloride...

Hello everyone, Christian here, my iPhone 3G S was finally shipped last night! (see attached image) So I woke up this morning and did some research.

Arrive in Anchorage, AK about 2PM PST....gets scanned shows its in AK on tracking info. Then from AK, it is going to Louisville, KY. ETA tongiht 6/17 around 1030PM PST.

You can follow the flights journey here.

Note: Notice I do not have a scheduled delivery time just like everyone else had when theirs was en route for AK. Its all good people!
