My phone is in my city. Just waiting to see it go to the AT&T store. It is too bad I probably can't get them to give me the phone tonight...

Just out of curiosity, what was the reason you all just didn't reserve one in the store? Seems like its a lot easier and less hassle. I will stroll in tomorrow whenever I feel like it and pick up my two phones.

It will be easy to get them in the stores too. I got my 2g on launch, I walked in to the busiest apple store around(delaware, no tax) about 6:30, 30mins after the doors opened to sell them, and walked right up and bought two from the tower of thousands of them they had.

Is it that most of you have no apple store?

Someone went over this already a while ago, but it has to do with sitting in underwear infront of your computer vs. having to talk to someone in real life at a store.

But really, in my opinion it just seems easier to have it delivered.

i have an apple store, but it was easier for me to just get it delivered to my office (which i have to be to before the store opens, even with the earlier hours), i'll bring my uMBP, and when I get it by 1030 i'll just plug it in and let it activate & sync and have it by lunchtime.

Oh gawd. Anything to avoid going to the frickin' mall. Plus it's really unpredictable what the lines/wait will be like. I'd rather get some work done and when the delivery guy comes with my phone, he comes. Not one second lost on my life. Beautiful.

i don't think it's going to be easier in stores. my roommate works at an apple retail store here in northern virginia area and he came home last night and said they have 800 pre-orders ready for friday's launch. last year he said they had 300 and it took until 3am to activate/distribute to everyone..imagine 800..and that's just ONE store in northern virginia..i can't even fathom the rest of the country or state..

Uh, the reserve technically isn't a reserve. There isn't one with "your name on it". Apple did this so they could get a show of hands so they know how many people to expect and how many to send to the store. On your reservation page it said that it's on a "First-come first-serve" basis and you aren't promised one.

Thats why I didn't reserve it. Why go anywhere if it'll come to my house before 10:30 on friday.

Because I'll be at work all day and dont have any interest in standing in line for hours, when the option is there for it to be at my house when I get home.

I figured that might have happened, but this thread is ginormous.

I guess Id rather go to the store, just me. Also I will save on the tax if I go to the store.

Shipping FedEx

Another ordered (Apple online) on the 9th, shipping FedEx for 6/19 delivery.

I'm guessing that those that ordered on the 8th and 9th are receiving shipments from a stock that had already been shipped to the US. Those that ordered a bit later are receiving units that have been more recently manufactured. So the later orders are being filled just it time from China, while the earlier orders have been all along scheduled to ship from the quantity already in the US.

I have never seen lines after the first 30 mins at an apple store. They seem to have there stuff together. The att stores are usually the ones with the lines and short supply.

Either way Im not sweating it, Ill get it, and if for some strange reason I don't, Ill get it later, my 2g actually still works perfectly

Getting it delivered is no hassle. If people choose to obsess and freak out at every turn, that's up to them. And many stores do run out. But honestly, I never really saw where Apple said you could pre-order one in store, where it will have your name on it and paid before you show up. That's what I did with ATT and it worked out, but I also don't have a local Apple Store.

Last year there was a three hour line at my local Apple Store.

And you also live in Delaware, which is really just a big road that connects the PA/NJ people to Maryland anyways :p

True, and Im sure there are a bunch of people who have to have it tomorrow, but as I said, im sure Ill get one, I have 5 apple stores in a 30 mile radius. And my buddy works at on of them.

Tysons? Pentagon City? If it's Clarendon that will be a sight to see for sure. But are they going to do in-store activation again? That seemed like such a clusterf* last year. One more reason for home delivery.

Yeah, last year I was in the store for 30 minutes just to activate my two iPhones...

fair oaks..i can't even imagine what tysons is going to be like. and to think i was actually *thinking* about doing the whole camping out at 5am thing for the 7am open..thank god i didn't. getting it shipped to you and activating it yourself is SO much easier. and yeah, they're going to be doing in-store activation.

lets just say this: at&t is going down tomorrow with all the new activations and activations. my roommate said while they were trying to help customers with installs on OS 3.0, at&t crashed haha..yeah so even if we get our phones tomorrow, we may or may not be able to use them depending on how strong at&t's capacity is...and with at&t's reputation, i think it's safe to say we're going to be frustrated lol

I think in this case it might actually mean they put your name on it.. I was thinking about reserving one, so I called them 3 different times.. Each time a different store, and every person I spoke to said that there will be one with my name on it there and any time I show up, it will be waiting for me....guaranteed...

I still chose to order cause I didnt wanna have to deal with the mall and the crowd..
