The only reason I am concerned is because I got an email last night stating I need to come to the apple store to complete my purchase, even though I ordered via online store for home delivery. I did call Apple and they said I'd have it tomorrow shipped though

I had one of those emails before to. It was a mistake with their system. When I was ordering I went through the process first to see how much I was going to have to pay, and then did not even complete the order. In fact, I did not even say if I was going to pick it up at a store. But they sent me one of those emails as well. If you have a order number, just follow what the order number page says. Forget the emails.

I got the same email twice but I ordered for home delivery from Apple.com. I have a tracking number and my iPhone 3G S is still in KY at the UPS Worldport Hub.

Do you have a tracking number? I checked my AT&T account online (OLAM) and I see my contract date has been changed to end 06/12/2011!

no, mine isn't shipped yet. stil just says, 'prepared for shipment'. It seems like they are just pushing out the order statuses though, so hopefully mine says shipped any minutes now!

It was picked up in Memphis (about 4 hours from my house). Should definitely be here tomorrow sometime. All this concern and sweating for nothing. Gonna be a great Father's Day!

Called UPS yesterday cuz my package was "being held by apple".
They said, it will be delivered today by noon.
Uh... its still showing as sitting in KENTUCKY!
I dont live in KENTUCKY!
So it would appear, since 12pm is only 3 minutes away, that they were wrong.
If some people are getting their apple.com orders today (havent seen any verified yet) then its odd that apple would have made the HOLD for some until the 19th, and others until the 18th.
Or... UPS is just doing their own thing, and i'm going to be sitting here waiting, when i could have had my 3GS in hand yesterday if apple didnt hold it.

UPDATE: Just got a shipment email (7:26 AM EST) with a Federal Express tracking number. Ship date: Today... Delivery: 6/19.

Looks like it is coming out of Texas... glad I won't be a part of the thread on Chinese quality control in a few weeks j/k!

uhm...... your iphone was still made in china.... it just got shipped to the US before the others... ours are newer .... hot off the presses!

Just out of curiosity, what was the reason you all just didn't reserve one in the store? Seems like its a lot easier and less hassle. I will stroll in tomorrow whenever I feel like it and pick up my two phones.

It will be easy to get them in the stores too. I got my 2g on launch, I walked in to the busiest apple store around(delaware, no tax) about 6:30, 30mins after the doors opened to sell them, and walked right up and bought two from the tower of thousands of them they had.

Is it that most of you have no apple store?

the closest apple store to me is at least 2 hours away (more if you count the traffic)

Someone went over this already a while ago, but it has to do with sitting in underwear infront of your computer vs. having to talk to someone in real life at a store.

But really, in my opinion it just seems easier to have it delivered.

uhm.... wow.... i think i might get in just a little bit of trouble if i sit here in my undies tomorrow waiting for my iphone! i don't think that's appropriate work attire!!!!

i don't think it's going to be easier in stores. my roommate works at an apple retail store here in northern virginia area and he came home last night and said they have 800 pre-orders ready for friday's launch. last year he said they had 300 and it took until 3am to activate/distribute to everyone..imagine 800..and that's just ONE store in northern virginia..i can't even fathom the rest of the country or state..

activation is going to be a b!tch tomorrow... isn't it!?
