I'm guessing that those that ordered on the 8th and 9th are receiving shipments from a stock that had already been shipped to the US. Those that ordered a bit later are receiving units that have been more recently manufactured. So the later orders are being filled just it time from China, while the earlier orders have been all along scheduled to ship from the quantity already in the US.

nope! i ordered the evening of the 8th and both came from china!

Called UPS yesterday cuz my package was "being held by apple".
They said, it will be delivered today by noon.
Uh... its still showing as sitting in KENTUCKY!
I dont live in KENTUCKY!
So it would appear, since 12pm is only 3 minutes away, that they were wrong.
If some people are getting their apple.com orders today (havent seen any verified yet) then its odd that apple would have made the HOLD for some until the 19th, and others until the 18th.
Or... UPS is just doing their own thing, and i'm going to be sitting here waiting, when i could have had my 3GS in hand yesterday if apple didnt hold it.

Packages can overnight from KY to anywhere in the US. It will be OK.

I'm guessing the ones that are shipping from the US arrived at the same time or after the ones that were shipped from China. I don't think they were sitting around here before then.

They could ship it at 4:00 PM tonight, and you would still get it tomorrow. Everything Apple and ATT have said confirms that we'll get our phones tomorrow if we ordered before the 13th.

Mine is still "In Progress" on AT&T's site.... so I dont have a tracking number yet either, but I'm hopeful it ships soon :D

Not necessarily true. I spoke with a At&T rep yesterday who said that my order wouldn't ship until the 19th. I ordered on at&t online on june 9th at 10 am PST.

Yeah, all of this mixed information is extremely annoying. Apple should have said on their website from day one "Delivers on the 19th". Delivers by indicates that is the latest day you will see it, but you might see it before. Terrible wording by Apple. UPS has no idea whats going on, i'm sure the head honcho does, but the people you call and talk to on the phone does not know what is going on. So they tell people different things, probably to make you hangup so that they don't lose money by wasting time with you.

Everyone just rest assured that your iPhones will get to you on Friday if you ordered by Tuesday. And just know that if not the media and all of Apple's customers will raise hell. UPS will do what is does best, ship things. They will figure out the 1,000,000+ packages and how to sort them in a couple of hours at world port. Yes there will be lost packages, but probably only a few (low 50's). So figure your odds.

Apple and UPS need to get all of there facts straight next time before a HUGE product launch so that all of the customers don't freak out and second guess.

26 hours at the most, we should have our iPhones!
Let the countdown begin.

I would also like to see my UPS tracking change, I'm sick of seeing the screen saying KY! I want to see departure scan! :)

True... UPS knows it would be the worst PR they have ever seen if they miss this delivery date. Don't mess with the fanboys.

activation is going to be a b!tch tomorrow... isn't it!?

Good question. I was hoping it wouldn't be a big deal, but last two times, someone or both (apple & AT&T) screwed up to some degree. I ordered mine so I could activate it after work. I guess I'm SOL eh?

Ordered on the 16th and it shipped today. The email from Apple with the Fedex tracking number says delivery by the 22nd, but the Fedex website says "estimated delivery of the 19th." Hmmm.

Mine is still hanging around in Kentucky since yesterday.

"THE PACKAGE IS BEING HELD FOR FUTURE DELIVERY. UPS WILL ATTEMPT DELIVERY ON THE DATE REQUESTED"

I would have loved it if they had have just ignored the official release date and let the shipments go through early. They'll probably ship it out to the Newark hub this evening, and then it'll make its way to New York (where I am) to be put on truck for delivery tomorrow morning.

My phone is stuck in Hong Kong Import Scan

I no the big thread of 4000 post is there but it is getting to hard to follow. How many people still have an import scan on their order? Stuck in Hong Kong There is going to be a 20% chance of it getting to us tomorrow. How many people are stuck in the same situation as me.

Did any of the various plane trackers find out if the shipment has left Alaska yet? My tracking number has it sitting there since 1:50 P.M. yesterday.

Yours and mine alike.

I noticed someone who had theirs in AK at 1:48pm had it shipped out yesterday. No love for 1:50 pm.

Yup... true for all the iPhones in Kentucky... process and distribute to locations tonight, update status and deliver locally tomorrow AM.
