My orders changed to Prepared For Shipment.
I ordered on 6/8 at 6 PM PST.
I think the Chinese workers are working overtime & overnight to fulfill the orders. They listen to our whining :)

Same thing with me. Pre-ordered the 8th, shipped yesterday but the tracking number does not work. I'm not too worried though as I live in cali so things coming from China usually arrive fairly fast.

I was told the exact opposite when I talked to them last Friday.

EDIT: "Them" being AT&T. I'll take their word over apple on this one.

I guess we'll just see on Friday..at first she said that and then I was like "oh, on the site it says you can just plug it in iTunes to activate" and she's like "from what I'm hearing you have to go to a store".. then she put me on hold to double check and she said "yeah, sorry..you're going to have to go to the store" .. I'm talking with an AT&T rep right now to see if that's true. Update coming..

What if your not porting a number? I actually decided when I made the switch from Sprint that I want a new phone number.

then you're still considered a new at&t customer too since your last provider was Sprint..I'm talking with an at&t rep right now to see which is true..

EDIT: The lady said this: you will be able to plug into iTunes and go through the process of activation.

my status just changed in last 5 min

my status just updated with a departure scan but i am confused cuz it seems like the departure scan should take place after the arrival scan. anyone know? heres a pic

Maybe if you're porting a number you'd have to go in. What about people who are getting an all new number?
 
I ordered mine last Friday from an AT&T store in my town. I have a tracking number, but every time I try to track it, it says not found. So maybe it isn't in transit yet.

Also, does anyone know how activation works in the AT&T Store? I really don't want some AT&T lackey unboxing my phone before I do. Do have to take it out of the box in the store?

The time zone shift from mainland China to HK makes it look as though my iPhone has traveled back in time. Maybe it comes with a flux capacitor and a 1.21 gigawatt power supply? :D :D :D

I hope you realize that 12:49 PM is earlier than 11:00 PM.

Also HK and China are on the same time zone.
 
"PREPARED FOR SHIPMENT!" Yesss...I was getting worried there...and so begins the wait for "SHIPPED."
 
update on new at&t customers

this is what the at&t lady said: you will be able to plug into iTunes and go through the process of activation.

apple rep said you have to go in stores to activate if you're new at&t customer [new number or porting are both considered new at&t customers]

..i guess we'll see on friday. really hoping i can just do it from home on my computer.
