It would be a shame if they didn't at least fix the heat issue mine is running like an oven. I'm sure they've had stacks of complaints of the heat they aren't just going to leave that until 07 are they?

jameshopkins said:Apple is small fry compared with Dell/HP/Lenovo, they are priority customers.
DNSTM said:I'm sorry MattDell & BWhaler.
The Inquirer has extremely reliable sources at Intel.
The iMac's do not use Meroms but they use underclocked Conroes.
It's basically a drop-in upgrade with the old chipset but a new socket. A true mobile desktop hybrid.
gnasher729 said:I think you got that a bit wrong. Take Dell. They sell substantially more computers than Apple, but they make the big numbers by selling crappy Celeron processors; no money in that for Intel. At the high end (Core Duo and upwards) where the money is for Intel, Apple is most definitely not small fry. And of course Dell has blown it by going with Dell, so I would think that they did just slightly slide down on the priority list.

Getting the new Core 2 Duo in a Macbook isn't going to make it magic. It'll be a bit faster. Will you even notice the speed difference?
Anyway, it's quite possible that Apple will keep the Macbook on the current chips for the moment and just give the MBP the new chips. I'm not saying they will pass over the Macbook but it's not impossible.
aly said:"iMeromBooks are a 2007 product" is it just me or does this guy still seem to think apple make iBooks?
That question is the joke, I don't get it either.dunc85 said:dunc85 wrote:

donbadman said:there could be some truth to this rumor if they still have massive stocks of MBP's, judging by the numbers of people here waiting on the new one's this could well be the case. Also if they want to do a case re-design it could well wait until launching it in january. Think about what happens if they don't come out in the next weeks, many people are going to just say I'm tired of waiting and i'll just get the current model. They also might be waiting for the new chipset to launch it with that. What i'd really like to see is a low powered quad xeon laptop, maybe using the woodcrests on a slower FSB speed than on the Mac Pro, they could use the LV versions on a 800 or 1066 FSB rather than the 1333 Mhz of the full fat xeons. This laptop should blow everything else out the water in the pro market, much like the Mac Pro And I really hope they put nVidia cards in the thing ATI's are very bad for pro 3D.
ZoomZoomZoom said:Even if a case redesign could take that long, would Apple really damage its own sales by sitting on old processors for months? Besides, they pushed out a C2D 24'' iMac with no problem.
ZoomZoomZoom said:If Apple doesn't come out with C2D it's not going to be "I'm tired of waiting, I'll get the current model." I don't think that the market is going to keep buying, especially when they know that pretty much every other laptop manufacturer is using Merom and their new $2500 pro laptop is still on Yonah.
ergle2 said:Adding Merom to the MBP is as simple as dropping in Merom chips and tweaking the firmware. Utterly trivial. They could do this as a stop-gap to a case redesign and the only risk there is annoying people who bought in the window between the Merom intro and the case intro. Given Apple do upgrades essentially without warning on a regular basis, I don't see that deterring them. Besides, I'd expect a case upgrade when Santa Rosa was ready, since that will need a redesign anyway...
For some. For some it's a reason to go with Dell/HP/Lenovo instead. As I've said before, Apple already has the Comitted-to-OS-X market. It's the might-buy-Apple switcher market they're chasing now.
