TMZ still says he died, but any other reputable media is not conforming that information.
LA Times, CBS News are confirming it.

It's a JFK type thing... he's been dead for hours but the news make it sound like he's in critical condition.

RIP, Michael.

What a wonderful talent, and what a shame he was so tortured in his adult life. ABC is one of the greatest songs ever, and Darling Dear had the best damn bass line ever (of course, that was due to James Jamerson, not Michael :D)

Still, he was the king. One damned strange king.

I'm in tears. I got to see him perform once in my life - first album I bought was his.. he's the one reason that inspired me to make music. :(

Only if South Carolina Governor Sanford waited one more day to have his news conference. But, he will still benefit from this mega news.

Tortured? He tortured himself. This is sad, but I have no sympathy for him for all the problems he had in his personal life, he brought them all on himself.

I'm not making excuses, but he was put through a lot as a kid. As a kid, he didn't have control over that kind of stuff.

edit: CNN is now citing multiple sources that he has died.

Did he? We, as the public and it turn the media, pushed him into the lime-light at a very early age and he was prevented from having a childhood. When he got older he wanted the childhood and because he was devoid from reality he didn't know how to handle himself.

I have sympathy for anybody who's life is cut short at only 50 years of age.

You don't have to show compassion to him, its those he leaves behind that we should have pitty for. Three children lose their father, and that's sad for them.

A lot of child stars had their childhood ripped away from them, but they didn't have sleepovers with a bunch of 12 year olds. What happened with his childhood is terrible, but there's the right way to deal with it and the wrong way, he did it the wrong way.

 That's totally uncalled for. Given the life that he was ushered into and the expectations people had of him, one couldn't have expected him to have lived anything but an 'unconventional' life.

Is that all you know him for? Sleepovers? Do you have any idea of all the good things he did? He was a child at heart - the world will always look at an adult acting as a child weird..
