That’s good to hear, alas my experience has been very different on their iPhone product line.

I like apples product design very much but Foxconn is not up to snuff getting phones out the factory without cosmetic imperfections.

Some people may not look that closely or care as long as it switches on and works but for the money apple charge and how much they bang on about the materials they use and their design I expect more.
When I buy a car I inspect the car in daylight with a magnifying glass looking for imperfections. Before I take delivery everything gets fixed to my satisfaction. All my iPhones are inspected the same way, once out of the box. And as I said my experience have been phoned without cosmetic imperfections for years.

I found a “smart” repair on a brand new car I was due to collect and rejected it, so I understand what you are saying but I’m less critical with cars as there are so many different components. Externally an iPhone is 2 pieces of glass and metal band, this shouldn’t be that difficult to put together without cosmetic damage. It’s not just micro scratches but also volume up button that was mushy and uneven screen brightness etc etc etc. Samsung make their devices and don’t outsource manufacturing so I think they are more in control of quality and I’ve not had an issue with their build. The software is terrible though. Anyhoo that’s my experience.

For what it's worth, I though Samsung used Foxconn also. But you would think FoxConn would want to please their biggest partner 100%. But 100% quality is not possible on millions of devices, stuff will always happen. For what ever reason, some people either notice more or get more than a usual run of defects in their products. But I appreciate the polite discussion.

To the best of my knowledge Samsung manufacture their own phones......being a manufacturer it makes sense.

As for the polite discussion......your very welcome.

That’s what I do. I buy a 3 pack of 3D tempered glass protectors and change them every 1-1.5 months.
some people go to Zagg or whitestone,
Helk, they cost more than the phone .
Because if you are caution enough, you don't need anything,
but if you are clumsy, you will have to replace the shxxxx every month.
49 per piece, dayum

Wow. With the type of job I have getting in and out of the mail truck and possibly dropping my phone out of my pocket, I need a case and screen protector.

In order to keep your Max in pristine condition you need a good screen protector and a case
Keeping the iPhone in your pocket or texting will result in micro scratches
Even if you already have micro scratches a good screen protector will hide them

My iPhone XS Max has had too many problems causing me to replace it faster than the rate at which scratches appear.

I wi.... oh.

Edit:
- Volume buttons malfunctioning
- Random signal cutouts (I miss Qualcomm)
- Screen issues
