What Kool-aid? It's an observation. Wouldn't drinking Kool-aid imply I'm all on the Apple bandwagon? I wasn't insulting Microsoft, I'm just pointing out the obvious similarities in the borrowed design aesthetics. It's not an insult to Microsoft, but a compliment to Apple. And now Microsoft is showing some obvious innovation here. Just because it looks similar doesn't mean they're copying Apple. They clearly aren't. Maybe you need to drink some actual Kool-aid and chill out a bit.
What are the similarities you see? Outside of both computers being AiO, what design similarity is there? Serious question.

Having said the above, whilst the studio looks like it might be quite practical (assuming it is rigid enough to take the pressure of someone leaning on it) I think it's actually quite ugly. The other things, well they're ugly as well.

They look similar, but are clearly different. Dunno why people are getting frazzled by someone else's perspective. If you think they look nothing alike, that's entirely up to you and perfectly fine, but to deny that these types of computers don't have any ideas borrowed from Apple is just plain silly.

Those prices though...

Over $3500 for 16 GB Ram and i7 in the Surface Studio.

Not a poke at you directly (I was just seeing the same posts regarding price).... BUT you have to keep in mind on what you're getting for $2,999. The display alone is probably worth more than half the cost if you were to try and buy a stand alone display that offered the same specs; 28", 4500x3000 resolution, 4:3 ratio (best IMO), etc. Now factor in that its touch screen, can turn into a digital canvas on a dime by simply moving the display down, comes with a dial, kb and mouse, "pen", and has a decent powerful configuration, the price isn't really that bad. Most digital artists spend thousands just on their wacom drawing tablets/canvases.

All things considered, the Surface Studio is an artists dream machine. If you can take advantage of what it offers, its well worth the asking price. If you aren't an artist, this would be a giant $2,999 piece of art that you put on display.

To back my tidbit on tablets costing thousands....

And this is just a display, it doesn't run an OS. So yeah... the Surface Studio is overpriced? I don't think so.

A fugly lineup that looks like it was designed in 1996.

MS is twenty years late and heading in the wrong direction.

Those are computers designed for people who can't embrace the futures.

Poor, poor, poor.
I know right. Looks JUST like this one from 1996. I bet they will be sued for copying it. They are almost identical!

These looks great but they still run Windows and the software for Windows just sucks now days. Especially the apps made for touch screen. The screen elements are so big. Regular Windows apps never seem to get updated. They still look like they are from the early 90's.

I think Apple has a pretty big lockdown on "cool" ... but the professionals are starting to go elsewhere.
they may be a victim of their own success. go to any campus and you'll see 90% apple notebooks. So now its a herd choice--not a status choice

The iMac is not comparable to this product in any way. And are you really comparing the Apple Pencil to this? Seriously?

The Apple Pencil is easily the equivalent of any Wacom Cintiq on the market in terms of accuracy/lag/levels of touch sensitivity. All Apple would have to do if they wanted to "copy" the Surface Studio is put the specialized hardware from the iPad Pro that works in tandem with the Apple Pencil into a 27" iMac with a touch-screen. No doubt it would be cheaper than the Surface Studio and also allow connection to a swing-arm, which is actually preferred by many creative pros.

Apple's going to have to make up in innovation for the last few years of hardware doldrums and slipping software QA if they're going to fill our offices now that MS is willing to deliver the future.

If all they have to show is pretentious videos of diamond ground bezels and new ways of launching siri, they're in as much trouble as Tim sounded like in yesterdays earnings call.

If they turned the 5K iMac into a touch screen, it would cost the same as this or more.

There were no modern computers in 1996 released with those floppy drives. Nice try but you are off by a decade.

Does anyone know what song this is? I want to find who did this cover of 'Pure Imagination".

This is the original. I want to find this new intense version! Siri doesn't recognize it.
