You sir, don't know what you are talking about. No "agency" will utilise computers with consumer hardware for anything professional. Comparing a computer with mobile GPU, and low voltage Intel Core i7 with a Mac Pro running dual Intel Xeon, ECC memory and workstation graphics card is just plain stupid.

This compares to the iMac, and not the Mac Pro.

I can only speak from personal experience, but the large film studio I work at in LA does plenty of feature and television work and I have seen literally hundreds of 27" Imacs in three of our studio facilities. Most setups are a 27" Imac with a 21" Cintiq, and some of us working with color (like me) also have a color calibrated third monitor. The last three studios I have worked at have almost exclusively used 27" Imacs with an additional Cintiqs for creatives. It has been that way since around 2011.

I can count on one hand the number of Mac Pros I've seen here....

I have not read 24 pages of comments, so it may have been said before, but I'm surprised at the STARTING price of the PC.

People always complain how expensive Apple is and Apple haters always emphasise how Apple products are highly overpriced, especially for the hardware.

And yet, I always end up seeing similar products from other manufacturers (whether it's Google, Samsung or now Microsoft) that are in the same price range. Sometimes I feel people loose the sense of reality and mage up assumptions and complaints for the sake of it. Kinda annoying.

The digitizing screen alone is worth about $2.8k

As an aside, I know this is just one region, but I work in the SF Bay Area / Silicon Valley and commute on trains and buses. I occasionally see a Surface Pro but I have yet to see a single Surface Book. Macs dominate around Apple land here.
In an environment like this just the idea to look for other solutions would be an achievement

Oh wow. Feels like Microsoft just pulled an iMac G4 out of its sleeve. They're adequately addressing the creative/professional crowd that's become jaded after years of Timmy's meh iterations and this time it might just work.

Apple, please, wake up and do something.
Yea, I really hope this rattles Apple a bit. I'd love to see some serious competition between the two in this area. Big rivals competing always benefits the consumer.

Oh, please. That was something done only during the very first public Win10 beta, and was deactivated shortly thereafter. Nowadays, the only things that sends data to MS are Cortana, and some Windows Store apps that very specifically inform you of such.
Then you are clearly not knowing what you are talking about. That's fair enough.

Even Steve Jobs acknowledged that Apple couldn't stay on top forever. I'm not saying this is the beginning of the end, but we are seeing others take some chances with innovation.
Sounds like an excuse in the current context.

I'm sure at least half the price of the unit is in that screen. A massively high resolution 28" display using a nonstandard aspect ratio with pen input and multitouch capabilities wouldn't be cheap for MS to produce, and thus won't be cheap to buy.

I respect Microsoft for trying...trying to redefine people's usage, trying to mainstream the idea of tablet/laptop hybrid. Unfortunately they are going to fail at this.

I've seen the Surface and had some experience with it as certain clients have elected to "try" and make it their primary machine. Its terrible as a tablet, it shouldn't even be marketed as such, and all of their efforts to make it portable enough to be a tablet have crippled it as a laptop. And even if you're OK with a device that is a terrible tablet and a mediocre laptop...it still runs Windows, which is such a poor and archaic user experience. For a lot of people, I can see how they can look past the "Windows" part as a negative, because to them its just a necessary gateway to getting full desktop versions of certain professional software like Adobe CS.

Surface studio video is awesome! Unfortunately it is patented by Apple.

I'm confused. Why would a satellite dish need a touch surface?:p:D

The thematic similarities of the product line are obvious to all except...you.
All who? All 6 people who've purchased a Surface through its various failed iterations and not returned it?

I've always found it interesting over the years, my connections in retail particularly Best Buy, but others too, have been telling me for a while now: most returned product - Surface.

There is a lot to like about the Surface Studio if you're in the market for a drafting tablet that doubles as an all-in-one. To my knowledge no one even makes a 28in drawing tablet (they max out at 27in at Wacom) and the tablets on their own cost upwards of $2500.

I'll be really interested to see what the artists think about them when they're out. I know they love their Surface Pros.

It's not for me, but it's probably the best all in one drafting concept that I've seen.

Shhhhh…don't ruin the "Apple is abandoning creative professionals" meme in this thread.

MacRumors, Surface Studio storage is hybrid storage (HDD+SSD). that 1 and 2 TB options are not all SSD.
And just look at it's price.. 8GB RAM, i5 CPU, and 1TB hybrid drive for 2999 USD.
I'll no more complain about those hybrid drives in 2499 USD iMacs!
And if there was an Apple logo on it, most people would buy it :D
Reallyyyyy nice design :)
