Not a poke at you directly (I was just seeing the same posts regarding price).... BUT you have to keep in mind on what you're getting for $2,999. The display alone is probably worth more than half the cost if you were to try and buy a stand alone display that offered the same specs. Not factor in that its touch screen, turns into a digital canvas, has a decent powerful configuration, the price isn't really that bad. Plus you get Windows 10 Professional which does have many features over Home.

All things considered, the Surface Studio is an artists dream machine.

As for outrageous pricing... you folks complaining about the price need to think about how much Apple charges for the Mac Pro's, you guys are acting like the Mac Pro is priced properly..... that thing is insanely overpriced, and it looks like a gosh darn trash can!
This. People need to compare it to more comparable pen display systems like the Cintiq 27QHD which will run you about $2,300 just for the display, computer not included. And that one only has a 4K screen.

I finally switched over to Windows 10 from 7 after a lot of hesitation and I think it's by far the OS I've ever used. And I'm on my Mac every day.
How do you like the constant logging and reporting to MS servers of every keystroke, every file and application you ever open?

Go to emerging markets, and for many of them, their first and only computers are smartphones. Thus I can understand Apple's decision to bet on mobile.
Exactly, and Microsoft beats Apple there as well. Latest Windows phones can be hooked up to a monitor and keyboard and serve as a kind of desktop replacement.

I think the Surface Studio is overpriced for what it offers. At the same price I can get a much better pre-built Maingear PC or built one by myself. I don't care about thinness and design, a desktop is a working machine to get stuff done for me. It needs to be powerful, expandable and have the components I want. A 950m in a 2.999 $ machine doesn't scream "premium" to me.

The Surfacebook i7 looks killer but let's see how the Software and Hardware combination works this time, also jesus $ 2.399 is a lot of money for a 13' inch laptop but damn I'm one of the few people who likes the hinge.

Competition is great it means Apple has to deliver with their new MBP and no, the OLED bar alone won't cut it.

ps: Can't wait for the Ifixit video on that machine might be next to impossible to repair this thing given how thin it is and how much tech Microsoft has put in it.

If "hello again" (which sets big expectations) is nothing more than an internal hardware update to the MacBook Pro line (to current specs rather than 3 year old ones) a OLED toolbar and a TouchID and there is nothing on the iMac or Pro side of things then I will say that Apple may be in trouble on the computer side of things.

These look really nice. Starting to catch up to apple in terms of design
What do you mean starting? They did this when they launched the surface pro........
This surface studio is extremely tempting to me - I dont mind windows at all for my professional environment. Have used it all my life and is no big deal.
As I have mentioned on other threads though, drawing on that screen is going to make it very dirty quickly. It annoys me enough cleaning an ipad pro let alone a 27" display, all the time.

Great work Microsoft ! Lets see what Apple does to compete.

Please spare me the armchair critic opinion of what Apple is doing with the Mac lineup. They still command 90% of PC purchases over $1000, like they did 10 years ago.

Apple`s doing a great job, those of us that use $1K + hardware are all flocking to overpriced, under performing hardware, time to wake up and get out "your armchair"....

If they turned the 5K iMac into a touch screen, it would cost the same as this or more.

You're forgetting that the model that was demoed by MS was the $4,000 version. The most expensive 5k iMac is currently $2300.

Interesting. 580 posts in 2 hours. I wonder how many posts the Apple event will generate Friday.

There were no modern computers in 1996 released with those floppy drives. Nice try but you are off by a decade.
This is the horrid PC garbage that was available in 1996.

Price is irrelevant to a professional [within limits] if it delivers what you need.

Yes, the OLED is not going to cut it and I want to see true innovation from Apple - if not there are going to be some big decisions to make.

With this
Yes, saw this on another thread.

LOVE it.

This is exactly what I wanted the iMac to be: a TB display with the iMac G4 trick arm.

This is a HUGE cannon blast across Apple's bow. Mr. Nadella is making the right moves at Microsoft.

I'm now more excited than I've been in a LONG time for an Apple event.

But this time is not because I expect (insanely) great things, but just to see if Apple has an answer to this.

As I said in another thread:

Damn it Apple, get your head out of your iOS!!

THIS is innovation.
With this release Microsoft has really shown their greed and arrogance. Steve ( Ballmer ) is rolling in his grave.

Don't have any of that on my system - I run the enterprise version and disabled all the telemetry. But I agree I think it sucks for Windows 10 users who don't have that option.

Oh wow. Feels like Microsoft just pulled an iMac G4 out of its sleeve. They're adequately addressing the creative/professional crowd that's become jaded after years of Timmy's meh iterations and this time it might just work.

Apple, please, wake up and do something.

I have not read 24 pages of comments, so it may have been said before, but I'm surprised at the STARTING price of the PC.

People always complain how expensive Apple is and Apple haters always emphasise how Apple products are highly overpriced, especially for the hardware.

And yet, I always end up seeing similar products from other manufacturers (whether it's Google, Samsung or now Microsoft) that are in the same price range. Sometimes I feel people loose the sense of reality and mage up assumptions and complaints for the sake of it. Kinda annoying.

I'd REALLY like to know what (hardware configurations etc.) justifies this starting price.

So the entire Surface product line, which depends on its claim to be a tablet and a PC, gets the most non-tablet product yet...and that's appealing?
Huh? It doesn't depend on it at all. Hell the first Surface device was a freaking table. Microsoft has been using Surface to brand all their touch screen hardware. It was never just about tablets.

Oh, please. That was something done only during the very first public Win10 beta, and was deactivated shortly thereafter. Nowadays, the only things that sends data to MS are Cortana, and some Windows Store apps that very specifically inform you of such.
