Fake story
Why would someone turn down a "bucket of money?" WHY? Are they that loyal to Apple... seems more like they're Apple's [female dog]. Stupid.

Zune HD is an impressive device, especially under the hood. More impressive tech wise than the iPod Touch and I think it looks better than it too. Not to mention the slick UI. Makes the iPhone/iPod UI look outdated.
I agree, I posted a video of the Zune HD in action in post #262 and nobody bothered to look at it. Instead they continue with their childish insults. If you watched the video you would realise this player with Tegra under the hood is going to be a wonderfull media device in a different league than the Itouch.
This headline emphasizes very succinctly my whole philosophy about who I reward with my consumer $$$.
Whenever possible....reward innovation, not imitiation.
The Zune Hd looks nothing like the Ipod it plays HD video and HD radio and has few more features the ipod doesn't. It looks like MS is the innovater if you ask me.
If you know it is a Zune, with a Z, then look at the logo from the right angle without drinking too much beer, some may realize it's a "Z". Otherwise it's just another great example of how M$ just doesn't get stuff...
There's no effort to brand everything under one logo. What will they even put on this new rumored M$ retail store? A Window/X/Z ?? Then again, I do like the Xbox and if it seemed to be in the same family as Zunes and WinBlowz, I may be turned off...

My question is, why is it that every screenshot around shows the Marketplace with the e cut off at the end ? If really this is not the level of polish of this device, why insist on showing it as such ? Makes it look like a Chinese knock off.
It's not just the branding. The perpetual sate of confusion MS is in is reflected across the board. Just look at how utterly convoluted Microsofts mobile development message is. Theyre all over the map. And thats not even mentioning their "Pink" project, which is apparently some sort of next-generation Sidekick. Windows Mobile? The Zune interface? Pink? So what's it going to be? What should people be developing for?
MS added a media player three years too late, in a s,owly dying media player market?
Duplicating the iPod Touch after the fact and adding in some sort of HD functionality and a radio doesn't add up to jack. MS pulled the same crap with the original Zune. the sad part is that this time, they're expecting a different result!
We had these same conversations back in 2007 with the debut of the Zune. And look what happened. As long as Apple exists and keeps up the pace of developement, the competition's chances are slim to none. And as long as MS is weighed down with its current management team (i.e., Ballmer), they'll always be a day late and a dollar short.
The "innovator" was Apple in 2007 with the multitouch UI on on an iPod. I redefined the whole sgement. 2001 all over again. Adding another bell or whistle to what Apple churned out three years ago (which is being killed off by the iPhone) isn't innovation. It's just lame. And late.
Watch the first 10 seconds. There's your answer. It's really that simple. That pretty much sums up the corporate culture at MS. It's as true now as it was years ago.

MS might not be as pretty as Apple in things like fonts, but they put a lot of polish where it counts. Apple and other ^nix OS vendors still can't get a polished LDAP implementation shipped like MS has done since the late 1990's. they will do a somewhat polished job for customer facing LDAP applications, but for corporate IT MS still rules with Active Directory and no one has come close.
...and the cheap fonts/interface with the missing e and then turn away in disgust, saying : "bah, 50$ won't make or break the bank, screw this crap".
Aren't these still the original photos from when the prototype was shown? They look the same to me.
Yes, it should have been caught, but a few pixels missing from the "e" doesn't really mean anything. The people shooting the pictures may have increased the font size for the photos, and didn't notice the "e". On a PROTOTYPE....
If the "e" is slightly clipped (my gord, "missing e" is so much drama) in the final product, then rip into it.
Really complaining about an e being cut off? Seriously? Get over yourselves. You people act as if you get some sort of residuals off iPod sales. Zune HD under the hood is BETTER than an iPod touch. It's screen is BETTER than an iPod Touch. Everything else is relative, but why shrug off a product just because it's made by Microsoft. You should be happy they're stepping it up because competition is good for us consumers. You people act like MS is the devil, why because they're more successful than Apple is. Give me a break.

...but I won't be buying one of them. Hopefully Apple examines the product closely and grabs a few good ideas here - like HD radio for example.
