Microsoft, a day late and a dollar short, as usual. Mobile IE, could it be worse than normal IE??? That's tough to do, even for them. :p
the touch tech will be terrible i have yet to find a non apple device that actually has decent touch tech
I agree with this. My brother has had a few touch screen phones, and they keep crapping out on him. All the other touch screens I have seen have been lame, and difficult to use. Maybe with Surface integration it will be ok, but I doubt their ability to pull it off successfully.

originality?

What do the 91,000 people that work for Microsoft do? Have they ever had an original idea? And when they copy they can't even get it right.

Good News!

I think this is good for the consumer. Let's keep Apple on their toes.

I mean, many iPod users have been requesting a DOCK for years so they can watch their content on TV, and via HD at that.

Apple needs to get with the program, and fast.

What I want to know is where will Zune users get their TV shows/movies?

Mobile IE? Bwhahahahahaha...

The same version of Windows people at CES laughed at? Wow, Microsoft sure knows how to listen.

Other than that all the features (excluding radio and OLED) are a copy from the iPod Touch. So nothing new here, just a device trying to play catch-up. Albeit, too late for Microsoft.

Now, it'd be interesting to see how they implement Multi-Touch, seeing as how Apple and Palm have every aspect in detail patented the hell out of. Surface may be a start, but it hasn't worked that well either.

Now, they say HD play back, *hardly* with such puny resolution screen. When will MS finally admit defeat, they are not a consumer electronic nor Internet Search engine, nor a cloud type service provider company. They are a software developing company, nothing else. The XBox has been a miracle to them, yet somehow, out of everything they, do they managed to make the XBox crash free (software wise). But thats about it.

Developing for something that already fails is even more fail. However, this doesn't surprise me, its monkey Ballmer after all.

The 480 x 272 resolution is pretty disappointing.

No, it's the best thing about it. 480x272 is 16:9, which is the same aspect as most SD and HD TV shows are transmitted in and it is good for watching movies too. When will Apple stop pretending that iPod touch and iPhone are "widescreen" and release a player which is better suited to the media which it sells?

Ugh, don't get me started on mobile IE. Absolutely awful. I used to have a Motorola Q running WinMo...talking about horrendous battery life 10 times worse than the iPhone. That f**ker also took nearly 5 minutes to "boot up"....

Alright!!! I bet this one will actually work out for MS like the zune did, Apple must be shaking in their boots!!

HA, this isn't news . . . it's another bad idea from MS. Seriously, if they couldn't break even with the Zune why do they think this will be a real moneymaker?

Beautiful

Well, to each his own I guess. I happen to find this device to be absolutely beautiful. If that casing is real metal then I'd say the design is hands down better then the iPod touch. As for the features well, not compelling enough to draw me away from Apple but this could be interesting. MS will have to really ramp up their mobile apps offerings for this to be on par with the iPod.

THEY COPIED IT RIGHT DOWN TO THE BLACK AND SILVER BACK!!!!!

There was absolutely no reason they couldn't create their own color scheme. That is simply a blatant rip off. I know they can't think of anything original, but right down to the colors of the first iPhone? Jayzus.

Actually there might be a reason it looks so similar.
MS might be trying to capitalize on the time money apple sinks into advertising. By making a product that looks similar people will automatically associate it with the "need for the product" that the apple's advertising leaves us (by advertising I am referring to tv ads as well as apple's design characteristics).

Aww, that's almost cute. Too bad it doesn't have a web browser to take advantage of the wifi, though. Honestly, I think the hardware design looks kinda sexy, and having an OLED screen on such a (theoretically) high-profile device can't hurt in terms of pushing the tech. Gotta love their new, more blatant marketing approach, in any case.

480x272 IS HIGH DEFINITION
6.1 IS 7
BLACK IS WHITE
DOWN IS UP
SLAVERY IS FREEDOM
:p

competition is always a good thing. radio + oled = ahead of ipod touch. I don't see why you would rate this negative just because you love apple to death

Maybe because they don't give a damn, I mean going by your logic everyone should be loving this thing.

I'm guessing they have a deal with Netflix like they do with the Xbox.

Wow, you guys sound incredibly bias. It doesn't look half bad. It sounds like ya'll don't like anything that tries to compete with the iPod. I prefer iPod myself, but ya'll are so mean about it. XP

I thought the "ya'll" was bad but just the fact that you tried to add an apostrophe and have correct grammar and still managed to get that wrong is worse than you standing up for the zune. It's "y'all"
