Ok guys. Calm down. No one seems to realize how good this might be for xbox owners. I have an iPhone. Writing on it now. But if this thing does half the stuff im imagining as far as intergration into live, I'm going to own both. If you own a 360, you have no excuse to not be exited. The beauty of it is that microsoft has no choice but to cram this thing full of features just to stay afloat against the iPod touch. I can't wait to hear what's in store. Open your minds guys.

We'll see. I doubt it will be anything significant.

If you have an iPhone look at the bottom. There's two down there. If you have an aluminium MacBook, flip it over, there are four there.

Indeed there are! Apple is becoming Microsoft now. :p

Wow, OLED screen. Can't wait to see it. It's about time Apple starts putting OLED screens in their iphones/ipod touches. The device also looks very cool, but I hope there are options besides Mobile IE...

Mobile Safari too, of course. Why not? :D

If no OLED in the next iPhone, PLEASE in the next iPod touch, Apple. :D

Interesting that they are using OLED for the display. That makes at least three or four small portables using OLED. Makes it seem more likely that the next iPhone will have an OLED display. We'll know in two weeks.

Interesting

This is a funky design, i think they forgot to mention it doubles as a tech deck ramp though.......

I'm surprised people here (mostly apple fanboys) aren't pissed Apple still hasn't announced they're willing to do anything with OLED screens, yet microsoft has. Instead, you guys just blindly bash microsoft like a bunch of sheep.

There's no reason to constantly bash anything that isn't made by apple. Just as there is no reason to be a fanboy of Apple or ANY COMPANY. Apple is not your family. They are a business, and they don't give a **** about you as long as they make a profit. The more competition the better for us as consumers. But sadly, a lot of people here don't see it that way..

hopefully the cometition will drive down prices or force apple to add more features, seeing as apple is moving at their own pace right now...

some good and some bad

+1 if they have a HD-based unit. I wish Apple would sell a iPod Touch as thick as the iPod Classic, with a 160 Gb drive. I could hold it better (I have big hands), and throw all my music onto it, rather than just a fraction of it).

-1 because the Zune has nothing like Apple's developer SDK for creating apps for it. If anything, the iPod Touch is WAY better at running apps than it is as a music player. This is my other pet peeve, that the iPod Touch could really use the physical scrollwheel from the iPod Classic (may on the back of the device, so the screen can remain the same size).

Well, I guess I should expect lots of negatives on a macrumors website, but I like this. I've always liked the zune, and am looking forward to see how its going to integrate with the 360.

This might have been good competition when the iPod Touch was originally released and there was no App Store.

I just don't see how MS can make this Zune compelling against a current day (let alone 3rd gen) iPod Touch.

MS is always two steps behind.

What they are doing is focusing on the media rather than anything else. I don't understand why people buy a music or video player with the intention to use it as a web browser or run some third party eBay application on it.

This device is far superior for video compared to iPod touch.

Why are they announcing it so early?

to bulid up hype to this zune doesn't fall on its feet the first week it's out.:D

and so those MICRSOFT fanboys can have something else to cut their wrists about.

It's interesting to see the vast differences in comments between here and on Engadget. Over there, people are praising this as a great device but over here it's practically hated, although that's to be expected. Personally, I think this is a bit of a failure for MS as it seems largely disappointed. We'll see as the release date approaches.

Which of course begs the question: Why are people on Engadget such MS sycophants? :D

I must be the only one who thinks that quasi-iPhone-1st-gen look it's sportin' is actually quite sexy. Doesn't help out the software end of things, though.

That is the first thing I thought when I saw it. It's like a more attractive first gen iPhone. I would never buy one of these just because it wouldn't sync up easily with any of the apple products I have, but I am happy to see some healthy competition.

THEY COPIED IT RIGHT DOWN TO THE BLACK AND SILVER BACK!!!!!

There was absolutely no reason they couldn't create their own color scheme. That is simply a blatant rip off. I know they can't think of anything original, but right down to the colors of the first iPhone? Jayzus.

About 90% of all electronic devices are of the exact same color scheme...it really shouldn't be surprising.

What do you expect from Engadget, most of them are Apple haters, so for them it's anything but Apple.
