OP didn't say anything about using spyware. He said Windows 10.
OP: make sure you use your /s flag.
I guess you are trying to make some kind of joke. I guess I missed it. Either way, this is a fairly typical, light workload. I hope people don't try to do this on 4GB of ram.

This product at $1169 preorder for i5/8GB/256GB configuration just killed the new $1400 Macbook Pro non-emoji bar, $1300 Macbook 12" and $1200 Macbook Air 13" with its superior premium design, color options especially the blue, soft touch fabric palm rest, touch screen input and larger ecosystem for professional software.

1. Yes. My PC takes 3.2 gigs on boot.
2. Chrome isn't light. It takes at least 2 to 4 gigs.
3. Chrome IS spyware, as is everything Google makes.
4. The OP was clearly joking too.

Why add the significant expense of a touchscreen that only gets used a tiny fraction of the time? Seems like an enormous waste to me...

Kinda like the touchbar, right? Or a huge trackpad? I suppose everyone's viewpoint is different depending how they use their laptops. Personally I find a touchscreen on a laptop immensely useful, something I use every single day and I'd hate to revert to something primitive without a touchscreen.

I am guessing you don't use your machine in an enterprise setting. Chrome is pretty standard, almost all of our users use it. The Lenovo machines that are fairly standard have 20GB...because we can add the extra 16 ourselves. Does this laptop offer that? (asking seriously, not sarcastically.)

That looks very nice actually.. I had a Surface for a while but it didn't really suit me because it was neither very good as a laptop nor as a tablet.

At least this is not trying to do too much. I wonder if it runs Linux well.. That would be a must-have for me. Windows is nice for gaming but that's it :)

I have a Xiaomi Notebook Air at the moment and it's actually great too (and was much cheaper than this one and runs Linux perfectly) so right now I won't get a Surface.. But maybe in the future.

That brown though... Bwehgh. I thought Microsoft learned not to do that anymore after the Zune. At least this one comes in more colours.

And locked down Windows... lol what are they thinking o_O:eek::rolleyes:

Microsoft really needs to just forego their different "versions" of Windows and consolidate everything into ONE Windows version. For goodness sake, it's ridiculous.

Looks like a nice design, but I would rather have a MacBook. I would think they would be comparing to that, but they keep comparing it to the MacBook Air? Seems odd.

This will fail like the Chromebook Pixel. Nice hardware, gimped OS = failure.

Also fails:

* no USB-C port
* Alcantara fabric - what happens when you drip pizza grease on this thing, ruined?
* again no Force Touch on the trackpad.

Right, and I would rather pay a couple hundred extra (or not since its on sale for 1299 in a couple places) and get a better form factor, better screen, better speakers, faster connectivity, and and better track pad.

Track pad is debatable. The new ones on the 15 inch MBP are too large for me and interfere with typing, haven't used the 13 for typing long enough to tell, but I do not like the keys on the current MBP line.

I'll hold off judgment on the speakers and screen until I can see iand hear the surface laptop, but you seem convinced already. No sweat, you like the Mac, so do I. Stick with it. At these similar price points it doesn't matter, but I wish apple's CPUs stayed bleeding edge like they used to in the past.

And no the Surface doesn't have twice the SSD, since base SSD for MBP is 256gb.

You have to scroll down to the 4th model on the model select page to get down to the $1299 price point, which comes with 128GB.

Why does MS insist on have multiple versions of Windows?

Because Windows RT failed, nobody wanted a Windows tablet with Store apps. MS desperately wanted their own iOS/iPad thing and failed. This is yet another attempt.

Lol, no, I don't use it in an enterprise setting. I'll let other people enjoy using a chastity device. Chrome, while standard and popular, still isn't light. Also, 20 Gb seems about right. I have 16 GB and rarely max it out unless I launch an app that includes CC in the name.

16GB seems to be the max.

Touch screen or touch bar or huge mouse pad you accidentally press, they're all crap.

My only question is, what college does she attend? What kind of college has dorms of a-frame building, floor to ceiling windows opening to a nearby forest, king-size bed, and hardwood furniture???

And yet Apple is positioning the iPad Pro as both, keyboard, touchscreen and all. Can't have it both ways.

I know people who bought the iPad Pro because they simply wanted the larger screen + 4 speakers + fastest tablet processor on the planet. Basically an amazing HBO Now device.
