At least the web browser you're stuck with on it isn't Internet Explorer.I hope more than anything that this pushes Google to release a new high-end premium Chromebook for around the same price range.

Macrumors upon hearing base-spec MBP is 8gb of ram and top-spec is 16gb: "wtf Apple, this isn't nearly enough for me!"
Macrumors upon hearing base-spec Surface Laptop is 4gb and top-spec is 16gb: "Ordering one now, **** Apple!"
UC Davis has some of those things, but not the king-size bed.My only question is, what college does she attend? What kind of college has dorms of a-frame building, floor to ceiling windows opening to a nearby forest, king-size bed, and hardwood furniture???

You mean buying a MacBook at a cheaper price. Apple is getting punched on all fronts. But they had it coming. It's windows, but can't game. That's like buying a car with no headlights. Pointless.
Add the Mac Pro next to the Surface and let's see the numbers.
I just want Mojang to be its own company again.

They've done nothing to Minecraft, which is the issue, and the game has died out. I really doubt the sales increased, but even if they did, I don't care because the community is gone. They also are probably the ones who killed Bukkit. What bad things have Microsoft done to Minecraft? Seems to me the platform has exploded under MS tutelage/funding. Sales continue to be strong. I see no end in sight, 200 million sold by 2020.
What?
The OP said they use it so much that it causes them to touch screens that don't have it. My SP4 has made using non-touch laptops a pain. Touch screens are so much faster when you need to select things all over the screen, or when you need to quickly annotate content. I wouldn't want to take notes without it. Heck, OneNote can even search my handwriting, so the only time I type is when I think I might send content to someone else.
Track pad is debatable. The new ones on the 15 inch MBP are too large for me and interfere with typing, haven't used the 13 for typing long enough to tell, but I do not like the keys on the current MBP line.
I'll hold off judgment on the speakers and screen until I can see iand hear the surface laptop, but you seem convinced already. No sweat, you like the Mac, so do I. Stick with it. At these similar price points it doesn't matter, but I wish apple's CPUs stayed bleeding edge like they used to in the past.
You have to scroll down to the 4th model on the model select page to get down to the $1299 price point, which comes with 128GB.

Except the MacBook runs macOS, which is a necessary and sufficient condition for probably half the Mac owners. You mean buying a MacBook at a cheaper price. Apple is getting punched on all fronts. But they had it coming.

Yes, the last part... 4GiB was considered a huge amount in 2006. New software has managed to chew all that up without any real benefit.4GB of RAM needs to die on premium hardware already. RAM is simply too cheap nowadays. On the other hand, keeping the base RAM low forces developers to make efficient software.
Windows "Special".
I don't care about those versions. PC version is the good one. It wasn't a niche community; it was basically the ONLY community at the time MS bought it, which was when Minecraft was already one of the top selling games for multiple years. They only launched Minecraft: Story Mode & Minecraft: Education Edition. Also sales are up to 121 million from 60 million when MS bought Mojang in 2014. That's f-en amazing no matter how you slice it. I don't know anything about some niche community that they axed, but that will always happen when something goes 'Hollywood'.

Heh, yeah, at least there is no brown color available.Windows "Special".
Why can't they just have one version of Windows....
...wait... cut down version of the OS? I can't install Chrome? Sublime? I have to presumably buy a full version of Windows at Retail price?
New OS: ridiculous. More cluttered BS. Make one OS, MS.
So it comes with a locked-down version of Windows.
For education, you still need to be able to install software.Good grief. Do you people even read? And this is just from the 1st comments page. Not going to bother going through the other 13.
It's a pared down, locked down version on Win10 because that is the intended purpose in an education setting. A sandboxed desktop environment.
It's not meant for you or the average consumer.
I don't care about the sales. I'm don't own any stocks related to Minecraft sales, so they do not matter to me. The game was much more fun when Mojang ran it, and now it's over. IDK who's still playing it, probably all the elementary school kids who are just getting into video games.Yet sales increased by 100% since Microsoft owned Mojang, refuting your narrative that they ruined it.

Steve Jobs intentionally put it in the iPhone and called it iPod when he unveiled the iPhone"Why would I want my phone to play music? That's what iPods are for."
