Microsoft didn't exactly come up with a quick fix for it, for a while. There was also a denial period of an issue. It took quite a bit of time. To tell you the truth, the only real fix for Vista came as Windows 7.
The first iPhone had some issues to it. But nothing as easily talked about as this. The original iPhone was very slippery for the hands, making it easier to drop. When they went 3G, the change of where materials were made the thing much less prone to slip out of your hands. Of course, buying a protective case, for the original iPhone, alleviated those problems.
It was also a bit easier since those were only 2G phones as well. People chided it for not being progressive enough, when it comes to connection signal, but it caught steam regardless. The initial price point made people doubt the success of it. So I think the eye of hardware scrutiny was not on the first iPhone.
