The scaling is off in the image.

I suggest you look at those images closer.

The screen on ASUS is smaller in height than the iPads. Now the black edges hides that fact but it is there. The white iPad makes it very clear where the screen ends.

So again yet another massive fail on your part. Just keep grasping at straws.

It does seem to be a bigger difference in that image than it does in the video. It looks to me like the image is a bit bigger from right to left than it is in the video. But no different than Apple showing the iMac from the side to avoid showing the bulge and there was no outcry over that.

What about not showing the bulge in the back? Don't you think that they are trying to give the impression that the entire pc is actually as thin as the edge of the monitor?

They're not Photoshopping the bulge to be smaller. They're just taking the picture from a different angle. Misleading, but not nearly on the same level.

I never said anything about the height. It's the exact same image as in the OP, and that blogger did the measurements. It's scaled. It's your job as an MS defender, if you choose to be, to prove the OP wrong. I'm not going to redo that work since I don't really care that much.

So being misleading is ok and improper scaling is not. Apple is being honest and Microsoft is lying and being intentionally deceitful.

No they aren't the ad has been corrected. Why people keep SAYING the ad is a lie now is mind boggling.

I think they are arguing about the scaling of the image in the picture of the Asus, not the video. Someone must have counted the pixels and calculated it to be off.

Apple is being misleading, and Microsoft is lying. What Apple is doing is like what Toyota does when they don't show their cars' cheap plastic handles in their ads.

How is Microsoft lying? Aren't they just being misleading too by making it appear the Asus is actually bigger than it is?

Some people have too much time on their hands; are too emotionally connected to their devices; feel threatened; or just like to complain.

Take your pick.

Maybe it's the camera angle ;)

Or maybe a bit of each? :D And of course it could be the camera angle. And it could be intentionally photographed that way. That's advertising.

It was sarcasm.

That's your assumption. Perhaps they realized their mistake and quickly edited it. Perhaps they read your post and were so hurt, they changed it. We'll never know.

You know at the iPhone 5 keynote - they kept referring to the iPhone 5 as the thinnest smartphone in the world. You'll note that at the very end - they referred to it as the thinnest iPhone yet. You know why? I can guess (like you) someone googled it backstage and realized that would be lying. So they adjusted their presentation.

It happens. Accident? Purpose? Matters little since it's been corrected and the amount of people that probably saw the original is relegated to mostly those that visit this forum and the where it was originally posted. Not the general public.

Perhaps, but regardless of reason, it was deceptive and careless on their part. Arguably a cheap trick to drive traffic and conversation. M$ isn't stupid.. they know how big their tablet is...

And Apple knows about the bulge in the back of the iMac. Do you condemn them too?

So you admit that in the past, Apple has also been deceptive and careless for their errors, right?

Apple isn't stupid either.

No kidding, I've been through about 5 printers since iOS added native printer support, and I've yet to been able to print from my iPad... tho I don't really care or put much time into it since I have a computer to print from.

However, there is a tool that activates it for any printer. I think it's called Handyprint (used to be Airprint Activator)

It's really lame that you need special printers. Whatever happened to "it just works?".

it's game over for ms. It was a nice run but the days of trying to get someone to buy a bloated a** pc is over. The iPad showed that the average person can do just fine with it. No bloat ware, no viruses and no effing blue screen of death.
MS has over 5000 patents on the pc. So it is to their advantage that sony, dell, samsung etc sells millions of pcs so scan get that royalty money.

And it is to Apple's advantage to sell millions of iPads so they get all of that profit. I don't get your point. And we all know that there are an enormous number of tasks that you cannot do on an iPad like you can with a Mac or pc.

Yup. A lot of it is justifying purchases as well It may be subconscious, but A LOT of that goes on. Look at cell phone arguments on all sides.... people seem really interested in the competition at times. Somewhere they aren't happy.

Need to step up those prozac ads on the net. :D Or people need to smoke some weed or something.

ADD: I hope my whining here comes off sarcastic, rarely do I get mad and post about it. Probably have slipped a few times though to be honest. Happens.

Holy Crow!!!

This is bad, even for Microsoft. Clearly time for Ballmer to go.

Complete overhaul of Windows 8 this fall. WIN8 phone a fail due to inept MS marketing (actually a decent phone IMO.) Now lying outright with WIN8 Tablets.

Time for the Crisis Team. Too bad. I was hoping MS and APPL could work together to fight Gaggle and Samdung.

Oh well. APPL Legal will be on this by Sat. :apple:

Really? Game over. For Microsoft?

That's rich. Do you have any idea how many PCs (even if sales are declining) exist and will continue to exist/be supported for years and year?

I know companies that have 20-30 year old servers that run Microsoft software still.

And software like SharePoint is doing very well. Among other enterprise offerings.

Sorry to burst your bubble - but it's definitely not game over for Microsoft. But keep living that dream!
