You had no proof of your facts when you made that statement and my first reply to you was in response to the few posts I've seen here where you're promoting Windows multiple times along with you saying that potential Mac shoppers find out that OS X isn't any better than Windows. That's when I replied you saying, " Says the person with Surface Pro 3 and a user of Windows 8.1.

Well you've pretty much admitted that you baited him with that post.

What difference does it make if he owns and uses other tech. That doesn't negate his opinion on it's own. What was your point in pointing out that his signature states he has a Surface and Windows 8.1?

All these people are quoting this article, but it seems more like they're griping about Intel possibly dropping the ball on Broadwell M processors (which could effect MBAs) than they are about the quality of the machine itself.

Not if you read past the headline, and into the article itself. They say the jury is still out, but given my experience with PC OEMs I'd say their theory that this is basically just Lenovo mis-configuring the system is spot on.

Better yet. Wait a bit and see what happens when Apple releases a unit with the Broadwell M in it. You'll see what happens when a company that knows something about optimizing the user experience takes a crack at it.

Speaking as one of said enthusiasts, given how open-minded and tolerant we all expect the community to be with regards to other issues (not to make this a controversial thread), I would think OS affinity would be one of the things we should find least offensive. So, yes, I would expect different, especially from this group.

They're just computers. They're just operating systems. Let's get over ourselves and any insecurities we feel regarding our choices in them.

Have you visited any Windows enthusiasts forums? One mention of Mac, OS X or the iPad and the Windows fanboys go on the attack. I would say the members on MR are much more tolerant. We get news posted of Apple's competitors weekly and sometimes daily or we'll get news posted about Apple that's in a bad light.
I can tell you first hand (and I'm sure of it that a few others from back in the day will agree) that the people who support this company so passionately are Apple users from back in the day when the company was about to fold. To see it progress into what it is today will make people take offense to Apple attacks.

In terms of open-mindedness and tolerance, tell that to Microsoft's community of Windows and PC fans. They don't welcome much praise about Apple's products on their forum. I don't see why some people here expect an Apple-Enthusiast forum to be the bigger person when Apple has been the underdog for years.

Does everyone in this forum HAVE to be such a big baby about this?

All the add did was compare features to help the buyer choose.

It also pushes Apple in the right direction but I guess you're all to blind to realize that.

I'd sure like you to explain how these ads will push Apple in the right direction? I mean, these ads are basically saying, "Hey people in TV land, our product isn't selling as well as Apple's MBA so we're giving you reasons to try out our machine".
These ads are saying "Apple, You're Doing too Good of a Job, We need to Bring you Down".

I put this forth - who cares what's happening on other forums. We're talking about this forum. What happens elsewhere it their problem to deal with :)

I, on the other hand, like Windows as much as I like OS X. This forum, however, seems to want to be some kind of yes man for Apple.
I'm active on both forums. Based on your posts on both, my opinion is that you lean pro-Microsoft. That's not a problem. But it helps me to have a proper perspective on the things you post. We all have a bias one way or another... and that bias can change day to day depending upon what our latest experiences are. Having said that, I don't understand why you are getting the flack that you are.

Regarding the Lenovo Convertible Yoga 3, I still don't get the appeal of having a touchscreen on a notebook. I have 2 notebooks with touchscreens, a 14" Lenovo S400 Touch and an 11.6" Asus X200. I never found using the touchscreen to be beneficial. I'm more comfortable with a trackpad or mouse. Ideally, I'd prefer a ThinkPad trackpoint above all of them.

Someone mentioned being confused about the value of "Tent mode". I used my Surface RT and Surface 2 for tabletop presentations (fantastic for that use BTW) and I could see "Tent mode" being useful that as well.

I like Lenovo products. I paid $350 for that S400 and except for the lousy battery life, it has been quite a solid device.

It's an absurd advert. The MacBook Air is a laptop. The yoga thing is a 'hybrid'. Apple don't sell a hybrid, so there is nothing to compare the yoga thing to. It's like comparing an estate car with another manufacturer that doesn't have an estate in its range, and comparing it with a non-estate car from their range.

Dare I say that is their point!

Had a Yoga 2 Pro. I'm hoping this improved on a lot but here are things that it's not showing in the commercial.

Imagine a guy talking really fast about the disclaimers like they do at the end of any commercials..

** DPI scaling not included, apps may be either unreadably small, missing elements or completely blurry. May require three or four hours of time to uninstall included value-added software. Value added software in some locations may contain malware, trial editions of software you don't need, trial of Office that you will have to uninstall and install anyway or reduce the performance of your device. Neither Microsoft or Lenovo take responsibility for burned laps. Device is neither a good laptop nor tablet. Screen may shake when typing on the keyboard and will become too narrow when using in vertical tablet mode. May not retain any value in a year. **

Outside the disclaimer, more things: When they touch the screen on the air, the whole laptop moves as a single piece, that's actually a feature. Note when they touch the screen on the Yoga the screen wobbles and the keyboard stays put. This is NOT a feature, wobbling screens are a PIA when using it on your lap. The Yoga honestly is too heavy and awkward size to be a good tablet. But then again, I think a 12" iPad Pro (if it exists) will be a stupid idea.

I think the commercial would have been better if it literally just said... look look we are trying. Apple hasn't changed the design of the Air in many years so we are definitely thinner now. Apple if you are seeing this, please don't release anything for a short while so we can make some sales.

Maybe they are hoping customers won't wait. I mean apple hides things enough that you are not sure what will come out or if you need to wait for something they will release. As an example, where the ******* are our 4k thunderbolt displays? Should we move to cheaper Dell alternatives that are plagued with sleep & tearing issues as a compromise or wait and hope Apple will release something without compromise.

No, I don't go to Microsoft/Windows forums. I don't care enough to do so. If I did, it wouldn't be to start trouble. What they think of Apple or its products or its fans has no bearing on what I think.

I have no problem with people here supporting Apple, but I would expect people here to remember the dark days of the company and have a little humility instead of hubris. They are not infallible.

There's room for legitimate debate on forums. The merits of competing computers and operating systems can certainly be debated here. The notion that just because the other guys treat supporters of the competition with hostility and so we should do it too is childish. When you start attacking the people and not the points, it says a lot more about you than it does about them.

There are Windows enthusiasts forums? All I've seen is the win 10 preview and thousands of people complaining hoping their feature (more like bug fix) will be included in the next release.

As long as its written lenovo in the back it CANT be compared with APPLE,its not about the same design or thinner or anything...

Um, I think that's the point they are trying to make.

I find this funny. When Apple talk about design and being thin, it's innovative. When someone else does it, "well, that's now what it's about".

Make up your minds fanboys.

This comparison is like a gasoline manufacturer doing a car review against a diesel offering and finding fault with the stereo.

I'm sure it's been said but, a product like this is the worst of both, it must do this as a compromise to make it one device. When you need a laptop, it's a weakly spec'd laptop, when you need a tablet, it's a huge and heavy tablet. All you really get is a barely tolerable device that just manages to scrape by doing the job of a tablet and a laptop. Oh and Windows, lol.

For what? Why would anyone demand that a laptop and tablet be with them at once and demand that they only carry one device? Carrying a MacBook Air and an iPad Air 2 for example, now that's pretty much effortless and takes up hardly any space in a bag, you could probably buy both for not much more than what you would pay for these Frankenstein machines which don't work well in the first place.

This is a product category no one asked for, it shouldn't even exist and will surely be one of those things we look back on and laugh at.

wars

The moment a company does smack ads its either coz of jealousy or envy or both and signals trouble. GROW UP you software giant and stop using other peoples pants to show off your genitals...

You don't like Windows, I get that. I, on the other hand, like Windows as much as I like OS X. This forum, however, seems to want to be some kind of yes man for Apple.
So, you are rational and brilliant and everyone else is unable to think for themselves? And you wonder why you offend.

Agreed also to add when you add in all of the free applications that you get with a Mac. It's just such better deal financially.

I have to say tho...apple should really start to work on some innovation on the OSx end of things like touch screens and such.

These ads targeting macs are ridiculous. Those laptops don't even come close and the surface is garbage.
