Uninstalled already. Pretty much looks the same as 2008 (bad fonts, same functionality). Just feels faster. I guess I was hoping more like Office365 web version.

Or ideally mailbox that supports map... I'm at a point where I like mailbox app so much, I'm thinking of combining all my accounts into my .me/icloud account and using one master email box for everything.

I actually have been doing this for a few years. I love having everything into one inbox and I of course mail out from other (work) email addresses.

Loaded the update, followed the instructions to remove the previous version. Running a clean install of Yosemite. No logical reason why it doesn't work. Feels like a rushed release to me!

When you say "loaded the update" and "remove the previous version" what do you mean?

Were you running the desktop version before or 365 version?

Why pay for a dated mail app?

When more intuitive simpler mail apps are coming out for free or a small cost, whats the relevance of clunky mail apps like Outlook?

Using Mailbox Beta on the Mac, and can never go back to a complicated app like Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or the likes. Mailbox, once some little bugs are killed in the beta, is a worthy replacement for Sparrow.

Because the vast majority of corporate America runs Exchange, and there really is no better client for Exchange than Outlook. If there is, and it works on the Mac, I'd love to hear about it!

They are but the real reason is that it becomes a constant revenue stream. It's a profit thing not a piracy thing. It's all about tying the customers to a subscription by the short hairs so they are stuck and have to pay. IMO software subscriptions are just a tiny step above a protection racket, (it sure would be a shame if you couldn't access all of your records any more. As long as you keep paying whatever we ask you can open those files you need for the audit. )
Piracy directly effects profits though , and considering this type of software takes a long time to create with millions pumped into it , they should have the right to protect it from people who steal it. Although in the end it probably would have happened like you say , because there are people who wouldn't buy a new version for years and years. Now they have to sign up to this deal to keep it going.

I would say the only thing that sucks is that one day we are going to be having to pay multiple companies for multiple programs each month just to do our job which sucks and yet another bill to pay.

I would say out of the office suite though , only excel isn't replaceble , that program is so powerful beyond belief. Something like word are a dime a dozen I think , sure it had lots of features and some you might miss but then you just adapt. But if you need excel your trapped.

so does anyone know where Outlook 2015 data resides?
I ungraded from Office 2011 Mac app which keeps data in Documents/Microsoft Data. My storage dropped significantly so I assume the data was rewritten into another folder, but I can't find it.

Importing 14GB identity

Kinda slow to import my 14GB 2011 identity but we'll see if this works.
It could not find my identity and it is in the default location with no name change. Had to point it to the same folder as it was looking for and said no identity found. That should have been fixed before release.

still 32-bit, including the O365 service

meh,
seems just like 2011 in new skin -but its still 32-bit, and it installs a background service (Office365ServiceV2) that's also 32-bit...

Copied data to ~Library/Group Containers

For me it didn't remove the old folder.

For anyone who doesn't need overly advanced features, the included Mail, Address Book, Calendar and Reminders clients on OS X have worked fine with Exchange for at least a few years now. The Apple applications are far more intuitive to work with than Outlook.

Disappointing that Microsoft is putting off updating the Office apps I use till next year, while upgrading the only one I stopped using for serious use over a decade ago.

That said, parts of the Office 365 integration I assume they're doing for the other Office products probably has the most exciting potential. I hope they get those things right, as it may soon be easy to create 3rd party apps that integrate nicely with Office.

The ribbon, bring the ribbon to Mac dammit !!

Is this a way to a have an extra app, or replace and get users off Entourage ?

Looks like the PC version I use at work. Apple Mail is such a breath of fresh air compared to this cluttered monstrosity.

Maybe delaying the Mac version until late 2015 means that there will be more continuity between Office for Windows and Office for Mac. Maybe they will release at the same time and have the same features.

Maybe that'd be worth the wait!

Working perfectly here!

FFS delayed by a whole year? Because of other priorities? You're a ****ing piece of **** Microsoft.

Certainly won't be renewing my annual Office 365 subscription if they're only going to update it every 5 years.

From what it seems, they're making it Cocoa. Isn't that worth the wait?
