Apple has been buying back stock like there is no tomorrow, so Market cap Is going down as you need much much higher stock price to compensate for total market cap. It will take some more years before the retail investor understands this, but when that happens, the stock will jump to 250+ dollar. The catalyst will be the launch of a new category product like the rumored AR glasses or, but less likely an Apple Car. So if you really want to make money and need to invest today Apple is the cheapest technology stock by far … as some smart analyst say, Apple investment is a longterm play, for a quick buck go to the others, though that is already to late, ones the cloud growth business runs out of steam, the hardware business is where you will see the yearly renewals paying of. I prefer Apple being second or third, it’s much easier to grow from there than being top.

Lol. I try, but I cannot empathize with you. You possess a false interpretation of reality that I don't think I could even pretend to support or subscribe to.
So you believe the earth has infinite resources we can continue to plunder so we can have shiny new gadgets every year to replace last year's shiny new gadget? And I wasn't being literal when I said "we all die." I'm sure you and I will be long dead before the bill well and truly comes due. I suppose for some people, that's good enough. Heck, I might even be one of them. What do I owe those future folks, right?

Don’t forget Windows ME ?
When Windows ME came out I was so happy to upgrade to it. I hadn't been out living on my own very long, and I finally moved somewhere that had DSL and could game with low pings for the first time ever, but my stupid DSL modem was so awful with Windows 98SE.

So, I tried Linux (Mandrake 8, Red Hat something, SuSE). I compiled an experimental kernel and got the modem to more or less work, but of course couldn't play my games.

Finally, I "upgraded" to Windows ME and ... if the machine didn't blue screen on every startup, my modem wouldn't work. Back then, blue screens were informational, so you could clear them and just keep going. But there was a period of several months where if I booted my computer and it didn't blue screen I'd just immediately reboot, because it hadn't detected the modem, crashed, hard, and recovered, thus allowing my DSL to work.

Azure and M365. Even Apple is a Microsoft's customer, because, you know, someone has to power the iCloud.

Apple this year brings the best rock solid devices and microsoft brings an windows 10.5 with a surface double laptop studio mess and takes the first place :))
Now you know how Wall Street analysts and experts think
The hardware + software model of business doesn’t work for Microsoft.

But they do really well on their cloud and business end, and are on an excellent path to provide the de facto cross platform office and development environments.

I would assume that these are their big income sources.

I don’t care about the office stuff, but as a developer I really like .Net Core, Typescript, Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. And while Azure is terrible in terms of UX, it allows me to do things that I would have a hard time doing through Apple.

Still, going to buy an M1 Pro machine - because best of both worlds ?

Awww... poor you.... Another company took Apple's top spot. What a shame! :-\

So what - this means nothing, companies will jostle their networth positions almost on a daily basis.
Won't affect your enjoyment of Apple's products.

.net core with c sharp is nice language compare to php these day.. but it kinda slow a lot compare nodejs and php. microsoft need to do something to cut some thing..

Makes sense to me, Nadella has focused Microsoft on being more enterprise focused, that’s a stable reliable source of income.

Apple is far, far more consumer focused. Pretty much everything they do is focused towards the end user, which can be fickle depending on trends.

I don’t think they really compete in the same market much anymore. Sure there’s Windows vs MacOS, but those are now secondary focuses for each company.

Microsoft is focused on WSL and acquisition of Github, and things like Windows365.

Apple is focused on Apple Music and Apple TV.

“while Apple stands with $2.43 trillion”

That’s a typo. “Stands with” refers to solidarity. For example, “I stand with Macrumors in their efforts to improve editors’ knowledge of English grammar.”

Edit: MR fixed it.
Thank goodness you are here. Stop being pathetic.

And that’s why Microsoft is worth more. They are huge in cloud computing, and apparently everyone needs that because so is Google and Amazon.

Microsoft is not really a consumer company anymore, Xbox division aside. Which is also doing quite well.

Apple is really a services and cell phone company with a few computers and consumer accessories. That’s why even though they are killing it and raking in tons of money in our safe bet, I believe the market would like to see more from them. Apple is not Microsoft or Google they are very different companies.

Apples strength is in their lock in ecosystem and the quality of their support and their hardware.

Apple depends too much on iPhones sells and they were warned years ago about it.

Reactions: anticipate
Apple has done a exemplary job. Their new silicon and computers are blowing away the competition. They have made great sales and profits over last year and I believe they will continue to do so. These analysts always estimate high, because they never considered the economic and shortage issues resulting from COVID-19. The are opportunistic and greedy with their projections! Wall street shouldn't listen to them, let alone react to these idiots!
